My kids video chat woke me up this morning, so I'm functioning. OFF! was stellar last night and glad I got to make it. Apparently Come played an 85 person capacity venue not far from me either.
Halsey commented on an IG post that she begged the organizers to let her play a venue and they said no.
Excited for Day 1: Holter > Swans > Metro > Shuttle > Avalon Emerson & The Charm > Beth Orton > The Delgados > Volta > Depeche Mode > Kendrick > Christine & The Queens > Yves > Unwound

Dodgers hat and Sumac shirt.
Did the DM>Kdot>Chris>Yves>Unwound run at Barcelona, and it was extraordinary. Hope Yves' sound and crowd is better for ya in Madrid. Enjoy!
Gotta say, Mordor really isn't that long of a walk lol. Took ten minutes to get to Kendrick from Four Tet at Amazon, and I wasn't hustling. Remember getting a decent spot at the set by 11:30, exactly ten minutes later.
Last year Bits to Mordor was definitely a hike but no one should avoid Mordor because of travel time. It's like a long walk at basically any other festival. North to South at Lolla is much worse, iirc.

Yeah, I expected it to be a lot worse! Having done that North to South at Lolla a bunch of times, sometimes at a full sprint. The grounds and layout felt good to me, even at 32. Lol.
My shuttle driver got lost, I shit you not. The 30 minute ride becane an 1 hour. He dropped the entire bus off 15 minutes from the site and we literally Lord of the Flies it.
The astro turf is beyond fucked. Mostly wet and broken glass everywhere near the Pull and Bear.
"It's kinda like if Primavera tried to do a Bonnaroo without camping" - Mrs GL.
She was spot on with that. There was astro-turf everywhere but a good bit of it was dirt/gravel. People seemed more concerned with getting fucked up vs watching bands.
Everyone stayed at the main stages and left the others virtually uninhabited. I walked into both the Boiler Room and the Warehouse with no queue. Part of that could be people couldn't find it (I never found the Tous yesterday) but the space itself isn't that large. You could walk front to back in 15 minutes.
Volta slayed. I had so much fun seeing them and meeting ianto right before.
Enjoyed The Delgados and Depeche Mode. Kendrick sounded so good.
All in all a great day but with a few hiccups.
- Shuttles. There needed to be training or more training. Our driver got lost twice and he also didn't he have a pass for the toll. We got off easy from what I gather. The return was smoother. 35 minutes to Centro and a taxi in under 5.
- I don't know if I am spoiled by BCN but there was always a line for beer/ water/ redbull. Untill I found bars on the outskirts that never had anyone. Seems like they need to rewrite the planning there.
- VIP Do not (I repeat) DO NOT BUY VIP. The entrance is further away than GA and literally nothing is marked. It's a ridiculous guessing game of where you're supposed to be. They did not give a welcome pack and probably the scariest of all, never got a bag check or scanned in to the festival.
Never used the main stage stuff as it was scary overcrowded.
Past that, we'll be back today and just gonna suck it up and taxi it both ways.
I'll be the drunk dude in a Dodgers hat screaming SAOKO, PAPI, SAOKO to a woman that desperately wants him to shut the fuck up.
