Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
edit 6/7: YES, THERE IS STILL ROOM! We don't have any set number of spots.
I'm putting together a camping group (aka "Camp Inforoo") for the tent only camping area. Last year we had a cool group of some folks from the listserv and some people who flew in and it was a blast. So I figured I'd float the idea here. For those who might be out of the loop, the tent only area is right across from centeroo and there is as much space to spread out as you want. The campsite we had last year was ~2 min from centeroo and you could see and hear the main stage from the campsite. The Details: Who's welcome:everyone*. If you are a 5 yr vet or this is your first time, if you post here every day or you just read the posts once a week, whatever, if you play well with others, you're welcome. *the one exception we unfortunately have to make is dealing drugs. Personal use is a personal matter, but we're not cool with dealing out of the campsite. Not an ethical thing, just don't want the random foot traffic or the attention from the man. Where: the tent only area right near centeroo. I talked to someone from 'roo who confirmed that the tent only area will be set up the same as last year. Here's a last year's map w/ Camp Inforoo's location marked (just a note, the names of the campsites may be changed from last year, but the layout should be the same).
and here's my flag, which should be up by noon on Thurs at the latest (check the thread for the discussion about setting up camp and getting together before that)
When: the group usually makes camp Thurs am or early afternoon, but showing up later shouldn't be a major hassle. taraanne81 has a stickied thread in logistics about getting people to hold camping spots. Why: well, we're pretty cool. The more the merrier, trade beer, bbq together, yada yada yada.
If you're interested, first read through the thread. It's gotten long but there have been lots of questions asked and answered and you'll get to know some of the group. Then introduce yourself here (the email list has been scrapped as most discussion is happening here). If you have any questions feel free to ask them here or PM me.
Here's a list of who will probably join us. The actual number may be more as most people aren't coming solo (that sounds like it belongs in the "Sex at Bonnaroo" thread...). I'll try to keep it updated (with the emphasis on "try")

As we're getting close I just wanted to mention a few things.
New people are still welcome to join us in Camp Inforoo, there is no email sign-up anymore (got unwieldy) so no need to PM me. Feel free to introduce yourself in the thread though. It's a good idea to at least give the whole thread a glance over as well, lots of questions have already been asked and answered. When (or rather, if) I have time I'll update the list of people in the first post, but that's a very informal list, so if your name's not on it, don't sweat it, it doesn't mean you're not invited.
Lastly, we need to get the early arrivers organized. It sounds like lucid isn't going to be there hella early so we need to find out who the first ones will be. I should get to Manchester around 8 am and with the way traffic has been at that time should have my camp (and the flag) set up by noon on Thursday at the latest (again barring something weird). So let me know (PM or just reply here) if you are expecting to get to Manchester BEFORE 8 am on Thursday and we can figure out how to identify each other (I'm easy to pick out, I'll be wearing a very loud Hawaiian shirt). Thats right where i've camped the past 2 years... Last year i camped with a great group of 10 or 12 people that i met on the greyhound along the way... I plan on going to the same spot again and i may be going solo or with one or two buddies but either way i'd love to join... Its so worth it IMO to set up there early and be a short walk from the entrance unless you really need to be near the car...
This sounds like it could be a lot of fun. I will talk to my wife and see if she is interested. We are leaving from Cincinnati and planned on showing up early Thursday morning.
Count me in. A few of my friends and I are planning on getting there at about 6 a.m. thursday... I could honestly care less about parking, I just want to get a good camping spot.

Sounds like lots of fun. My girlfriend and I are coming to our first bonnaroo this year and are looking forward to meeting lots of cool people. The tent only area seems to be the way to go.
One question, my girlfriend was a little hesitant when I told here we should set up in the tents only area because she is afraid things in the tent might get stolen. I can't imagine this happening much, and we would mainly only have food, beer, and a weber grill in the tent. Theft is not very common here is it?
Hi there! Correct me if i'm wrong, but you are the Leo who wrote the "Bonnaroo Survival Guide" right? You're a celebrity in my books! I'm a newbie to festivals in general (and this year Bonnaroo will be my post-grad MSc adventure), and wasting time in the lab, I've reread your guide countless times in premature preparation! Thanks for it! I think my boyfriend and I will be driving down from Canada, but we would like to camp in the tents only area, so it would be wonderful to join your community (from what i understand we can leave our car in the camp/car area, let me know if i've made a mistake about this please ). Thanks for setting this up, Steph

If we get enough people and establish a camp of sorts we'll be all good, people are good for the most part and i'd be more worried about theives far away from centeroo during the shows, the tent only area stays pretty active all the time so that you can watch peoples stuff and people can watch yours without being directly on a shakedown.
If someone could supply a shade tent of some sort we could circle our tents around we'd be in style, i might buy one but if i end up backpacking i might just have a tarp or two with me. Last year me and some of the greyhound bus crew had a real nice set up with a shade tent in the middle and a tarp slanted off of one side like a lean-to. We had a nice blanket one girl brought spread out under the shade and had room for everyone. I even slept under the lean-to tarp two of the nights, alot cooler than the tent.
There's been a lot of interest in the idea so far, should be a good size group. I'll contact everyone who's interested, I'm a little under the weather now but I'll get to everyone in the next couple of days and get contact info. As far as things getting stolen in the tent area, I haven't had or met anyone who has had anything taken. Not saying that it can't happen, but I think it would be less likely if we're in a group. Yes Steph, I'm the guy who wrote the guide, I'm glad you like it, and yeah you park your car just like if were camping there and then you just carry your stuff over to the tent area. Leo
I talked to my wife and we are up for the tent only area. I need to buy a new tent and was planning on buying a canopy as well. I don't think it would hurt to have a couple in the center.

yeah shade tent really makes the campsite... keeps a patch of ground dry and gives people space to stretch out on the ground out of the sun... i'll definately be joining you guys just keep me posted on the plan...
i'm down to join the group. you guys sound like some good people and making new friends is one of the great things about festivals. i'll be coming from st. louis (actually wakarusa) with a good friend from pennsylvania, arriving early in the afternoon on thursday; i'll stay in touch.
OK, I think I got in touch w/ everyone who has shown interest, if I missed anyone, sorry, just send me a personal msg w/ your email and I'll get you in the loop.
I was just talking to some friends about this the other day and I think it's the way to go for me as well. I have some friends coming in from different states/at different times and there is no way we are going to be able to all meet up and get in line together. Plus I was in GUAM last year so it would be amazing to be that close - plus I would actually have room for my big tent then and I already have a canopy! COUNT ME IN

Sweet im backpacking in from Wakarusa so it will be nice to have some peeps to pool together with, i bring alot of small but very usefull items so im sure i can contribute to the group... Shade is the biggie though, i cant fit one of those canopy things in my pack...
My plane lands in Nashville at 3:20 pm Thurs, and I'm taking the shuttle, so I guess that puts my arrival at the Inforoo camp somewhere around 5 or 6? Maybe 7pm at the latest? Save me a spot for my 3-person tent, Leo!

Hello all you bonnaroo freaks! This year will be my first time up there. Coming from sunny FL with a friend. Planning on driving up Wednesday, staying in Nashville and heading to Manchester fairly early on Thursday. I'll probably do most of my sleeping in my car (a 93 Cadillac Deville). A halfway house sounds like an absolutely wonderful idea though.

Yeah Leo sorry i was unclear. My friend and I are planning on bringing tents and staying in the tent only area. "halfway house" was just a term I used to refer to the idea of having a closer place to grab some shade, drinks, and food. Being with a cool community of people I can talk to beforehand will be fun.
The tent only area is very big (at least it has been the past 2 yrs), room for a thousand or so, no problem. On another note, anyone who wants to join the group should sent me a personal msg and I'll get you in the loop.
