Has anyone else tried Samuel Adams cherry wheat? I bought some tonight and it was one of the best tasting beers my tastebuds have ever had! I'm contemplating bringing this as my beer for bonnaroo(and the rest of us at the inforoo camp), the only setback is that im positive it doesn't come in a can.
im going to try to bring glass into camp in my sleeping bag... as long as im responsible and pack it out....and dont break it while im impared i think it should be fine.
I've drank a number of rogue beers mostly Dead Guy Ale. They used to have a kill the keg night at my local in Seattle, where they would sell pitchers of Dead Guy for $4. They even gave me a shirt, not sure why though maybe they wanted some drunken advertising.
a.) im not too sure how much of the fine beer everyone is expecting to bring in, but some of the beers that will be brought, such as rogue, is some potent beers. and if everyones gona be bringing some high alcohol beers, and everyone wants to try them... it could dehydrate and destroy a day for some fellow campers. but im sure everyone wont be going like 12 beers of dead guy, or ommegang (some local belgian 12% brews). just a word to the wise of what is brought and what is consumed. b.) its hot, haha.
just wanted to give a heads up, me ill be bringing some saranac black forest and lots of utica club, the local stuff. and i might have a special little something for the group, private specialty labels made... "bonnaroo broo" for the black forest. provided i can get the bottles through security. we make special labels too, so, itd be somthing to take home. imo
yeah my thoughts are the same. i want to bring beer for you all to try. and probably drink lighter beer to get loaded. dont want to be passed out at 8 pm
We love beer but also enjoy booze. Is anybody interested in bringing liquer? I tend to drink Stoli w/ a mixer or tonic, or Cruzan/Captain & Coke. My husband mainly drinks beer or scotch. He's super into trying new scotch if anybody else has the same interest. I'm sure we will bring a variety.
amber and i will be visiting the jack daniels distillery but its a dry county so mabye if they have a store outside the county we will bring some gold medal jack!
Have you guys been to the distillery before? We went a couple of yrs ago. Nice tour, pretty grounds but weird that you don't get a sample. We didn't know that it's a dry county until after we started the tour (duh!) Anyway, no big whoop because neither of us especially like JD. The who dry county thing baffles me...here in NC we actually have dry counties that have colleges within the county. What the frig? Blows my image of a college party! Maybe cops turn a blind eye, or maybe people who live there are just odd. who knows.

It's not usually illegal to possess alcohol in dry counties (assuming you're of age and don't have a business'-worth of stock), just selling it is illegal. At least this is the case in dry counties in Kentucky.
If I remember there are two different bottles for sale. They are in sort of fancy bottles and over priced. The 'master distiller' is present and he autographs the bottle. I think it cost like $35-$40 bucks. My husband got sucked in...I guess he figured we drove all that way, we might as wel buy a bottle.
Check out the thread under General Roo - "Ever Visited the Jack d. distillery?". (It was on page 3 of the list today). You can purchase some JD at the store at the end of the tour - you just can't taste. The tour will explain why the area is still dry and why they can sell certain bottles (took an act of the State Leg.). the tour is completely worth it, especially if you get their early and the tour group is small. My friends and I are actually going late in the day Wednesday before roo. We are hoping for a small group.
I've visited once and purchase one of the 'special' bottles. It really was different than what you get on the shelf - taste wise. Worth the price, if you like whiskey - and not overly priced. They do serve fresh squeezed lemonade at no charge.....
I would definitely like to have some more people to hang out with, for sure. I'm Stephanie and my friend Jason is going with me. Not sure who else (if anyone else). It would suck carting stuff around, but if it means more space, cooler people, and less of a walk to centeroo, then count us in! This will be my first year, too.. so someone who knows what's going on would be excellent. About how far is the tent only area from where the cars are? ..Or perhaps that's a question you can't answer, because I'm sure there's a ton of parking. When should I show up, and what nights are people allowed to camp? Thurs., Fri., Sat., and Sun. night?
The primitve camping is first come first serve. Gates open on Thursday, between 7-9am. The bonnaroo personnel directs traffic and you park wherever they take you. You can either camp there or cart your stuff to primitive camping.
Last year we were parked across the street from primitive camping; we could see What Stage from our campsite, centeroo was a 5 minute walk. It was killer.
Year before we were in the boonies, like 20 or 30 minutes from centeroo, depending on the crowd. It sucked.
I've seen the gates opened as early as midnight on wednesday. They definately don't stay open from that time; but they open them for a little while to speed things up.
Awesome. Well, it's official - I bought the tickets for my friend and I. One more might be coming. We're going to leave around midnight or so Wednesday.. so it should put us there sometime Thursday morning.. say 7:00 or so? Not really sure how long it'll take and if other people will be stacked up at the gates.
We're going to camp in the tent only area. Definitely keep me posted on when to meet up, if there will be a flag or sign of some sort, etc. I have no sense of direction, sadly.. so big bold images are crucial.
In the tent only area, can you bring shade tents? We are bringing a regular tent, but I was thinking about a shade tent too, to put over my tent and expand a bit so that I can set some chairs under it and have a place to be out of the direct sunlight. Unless of course someone else wants to let me get all up in their space and sit under theirs!
Is anyone else actually planning to get there in the morning Thursday? I've seen a lot of talk about Thursday night.. I'm afraid I'll get there Thursday morning, go to the tent only area, and not find anyone. Let me know if you're coming in the morning.. just PM me! Thanks!
I would bring the shade tent. We were planning to make a tent circle with the shade tents in the middle. I picked one up last night and might get a second to put over my tent as well.
My crew will be arriving around 5:00am give or take Thursday morning. There are some others arriving early as well. Leo is looking for ideas on how to have the early birds meet up and mark the spot. So far eschanging cell numbers looks to be the best and use Leo' s flag.

we will have a phone, like everyone else there it will be long distance to call, we plan to get there really early if needed we can make it a point to be even earlier to be a contact as people come in
ka mai asked me how I'd feel about having the tent camping group as a meeting up place for the inforoo meetup(s). I don't have a problem with it but I wanted to get everyone elses thoughts on it. If you don't want to post in the thread just PM me.
Sounds like the obvious thing to do seeing as most of us are from inforoo. I also don't mind people barging in. I guess it increases the security, or whatever. Increases the fun anyway!
sounds good to me the more the marrier. like amber said i'll have my cell phone on me. it'll be long distance, but it might be easier to have contact numbers of poeple in the group.
perhaps we could start a phone tree? whoever plans to be there first, or whoever is, starts calling the first name on the list, then they go from there... we all have voicemail right? leo, ill be contacting you with where i am since ill be there early thursday... and anyone else, im there to help. we might drive down all the way wed night, but we have hotel res if we get tired.... hope to be there early, lets get a phone tree together, and call before we are inside the roo....
