Biggest K-Pop snub was definitely Aespa. Sweeping the awards season over in Korea and arguably had the biggest year of any K-pop group this year. They’ve refined their performance skills a lot and most importantly sing their asses off, plus the visual direction would’ve been amazing.
They do a great job of booking unique bands, but let's not act like Djo, Sam Fender, Still Woozy, and even forum favs like Japanese Breakfast and Clairo wouldn't fall under the umbrella of "typical indie"
This is true, but I think the gist of his point is that they book fewer, for lack of a better term, Pitchfork style indie bands than they did in 2017 as compared to more shoegaze/emo/hardcore bands. I believe Tom is also partially making this point because I’m fairly confident he has no idea the Sonora exists.
They also need to fill out a lineup for Just Like Heaven, so that's where those bands went. If the one-day fest market ever dries up, you'll see a return to form.
Yes in 2023 I got a ticket for like $340 with a shuttle post fees on stubhub/tickipick like a week or 2 before
But I saw last year that wasnt the case iirc. Maybe it was for around FV post fees or a bit higher, but I forgot
Anyone have last years historical data on resale?
I literally sold tickets for way under face last year because it was selling like complete ass. If you can get tickets under face in 2023. You can get tickets under face in 2025. If you need the piece of mind just grab first tier Amex tickets, but again, I am extremely confident that tickets will go under face and this thing is not going to truly sell out.
We all know GV is going to try and cut things off and say it’s “sold out” at som point, but it will be disingenuous and not indicative of second market.
Looks like W1 is gone, but W2 still stands....hope I got some more time to get everyone on board
Amex W2 shouldnt sell out for a long time right? Hoping its there until around the fest

Maybe they’re headline or bust category
I don’t think so, I think it might be a mix between a bit of hesitance since their last performance (the surprise during 88Rising) wasn’t received super well because their performance chops weren’t nearly where they are now, and the fact that they’re subheadliner/late Sahara territory which was already highly contested this year. Plus there’s already 2 members of BP on the lineup rounded out with Enhypen as the boy group pick of the year. I could totally see them in that type of spot next year.

Ok I’m reading the Stereogum piece. Tom Breihan is fully on the “Coachella needs to book the exact pop stars that are popular this second and everything else is a legacy act” train now, which is fine, that’s his opinion, but then he says stuff specifically designed in a lab to rile me like:
“ At this point, the inclusion of K-pop idols almost feels rote. I haven’t been to Coachella when K-pop acts were on the bill, so I don’t know how they go over, but it just doesn’t seem that special anymore. The point, from what I can tell, is that it’s cool for these groups’ teams and fanbases to trumpet the fact that they’re playing at Coachella.”
TOM!!! It’s because they draw big crowds!!!!! That’s why they book them!!!! I don’t think you’re actually paying attention to festivals in your role as the guy who’s supposed to pay attention to festivals!!!!!!!!!!!!!
actually Tom Breihan’s job is to block my view at interesting hardcore gigs around central Virginia, dude is 6 foot 15

garageland texted me moments after I made this post to defend him and later said “I’ve known Tom for years. He’s a great guy…Tall AF though.”
Wasn’t there a rumor the yuma was getting a makeover? That it was going to be bigger?
The only acts here that would need it to be bigger are Eli Brown and Amelie Lens lol
what I had heard was that it was "slightly bigger" and that the area around it would be "a little larger".
But I also heard about a new stage last year that would be a smaller tent and that turned out to be quasar so what do I know.
To be fair I heard last year that there would be a new tent added in 2025 from a reliable source. That was also told to me before Quasar so maybe that was it and wires got crossed. I half expected to see 8ish extra names per day because of this but that clearly didn’t happen so doubt it’s real unless it would be announced later.
