Poop I know you didn't just ask this question....."question for roo this year
should i rock crocs or settle with sneakers? "
You know the answer already! There seem to be so many crocs rockers on here with all their testimonials. Well here's another one I read on the Crocs site: There is a guy who has run 3 yes 3! 26 mile marathons in the same pair of blue crocs. That just blows my mind!
My husband has a hook-up on crocs so I have an opportunity to get some but I've always had my Tevas / Chucks and they've worked really well but I have never encountered the big mud and I want to be prepared (just in case), I have a question about them...
OK, do your feet slip around in them? Like when they are wet... or do they pretty much stay strapped on pretty good?

Because of the (ultracomfysoftashelldamn) material that they're made from, they can be a little slippery at first. After a week or so, you learn how to "grip" them and it's no problem at all.....whatsoever......period! They are the best Bonnaroo shoe you can imagine!
My Mom bought me fake crocs that were stiff, and not spongy at all, luckily they didn't fit, so they weren't subject to sitting in the back of my closet collecting dust for the next 2 years until I decide to throw them out after Mom forgets about them.
While Crocs are comfy and are probably my favorite shoes to wear to work (I'm a nurse)...Crocs are sweaty. Mine are coming, but for when it rains. It's sneaks for me if it's sunny.

and where do Birks fit into the debate?
I wouldnt recomend your birks for Roo unless you dont care waht happens to them. If it rains they will get ruined by the mud.
ANY shoe makes my feet sweat. It's guaranteed that feet are gonna sweat out there in the 90+ degree heat...that's why I will be bringing my Crocs. If they get stinky, all you have to do is rinse them off and they're good as new!!!
I have found that when my feet do sweat in the Crocs (and I'm NOT talking about a river of foot sweat, but a gentle morning mist), they do not slip around. Before I bought them, I thought they would slip because of the material, but they don't. I'm going to buy 2 more pairs this weekend because I love them so much. I recommend them because they will be great for mud and protect your little piggies from getting stepped on more than sandals would.
Every time I have worn Birks at a festival I have had a problem with mud building up between the sandals and my feet, and if it doesn't rain, i always get blisters from the straps. I love them for day to day wear at home, but they don't make sense for festival wear when I have crocs.

I got this pair of psudo-crocs the other day they are made out of the same material as crocs but look like little ballet flats (i dont remember the name of the company though) ... anywhoo I have a feeling those are going with me, and since those have little ventalation holes they wont do me much good if it rains... so welly's are a must

I worked at a Crocs Kiosk last summer in an airport. I loved working for them (they pay sales associates very well haha). And I was way skeptical of the shoes because I thought they looked sort of weird, but then after I started wearing them, I was hooked. They ARE NOT made out of plastic or rubber, they are made out of "croslite"- fancy term for resin. For them to melt they would have to be placed under ridiculous strained heating pressure (like dryers will shrink them.) They have nonporous so your sweat won't gather in them (makes them anti-bacterial as well) and they are easy to clean off (hose, under a faucet.) They are really comfortable, except if you have really narrow feet they tend to feel big. All the sizes tend to run big for women; the sizes in men run pretty accurate. I normally wear a 7.5/8, I wear a crocs 6 or S. Although 10s and 11s in women tend to be accurate. They sell a lot of different styles (the ballet flats are more true to size and fit narrower feet better). They come in all sorts of colors. Part of their charm is their ugliness. ;D ;D
I'll never turn away from my birks. 5 years old and still going strong. Although I'm going to need to replace the sole on them it's almost completely flat. Outside of work it's all I wear from spring till fall. Birks forever, crocs never.
I'm definitely all about the Birks, but Crocs are what I will wear when the weather is wet. Birks, and any sandle for that matter, have been such a pain for me at fests when there is mud.

Gonna put an update in here. I bought my purple crocs size 8 and realized after wearing them a while that they really were too big for my feet. So I delegated them to my yardwork shoes and ordered some orange size 7. They fit my feet perfectly but when I put the strap around the back (which is how I would wear them at Roo) they push my feet forward too far. It seems I probably need a half size - which they don't have.
Anyway, I found a solution. They sell Velcro adjustable straps which will attach to all the Crocs, so I ordered one of those so I can adjust the back the way I want it I have spoken to some others who had this problem also and didn't know about the velcro straps, so hopefully this info will help anyone else who is having that issue.

Ok. After reading this thread, I am almost convinced to actually buy some crocs. I am a dedicated flip flop person. My husband and I have been buying the same pair of flip flops from Hawaii for 14 years now at this link. They are awesome.
But after having to go barefooted the entire 04 Bonnaroo due to the mud (picture mud flipping all the way up the entire backside of your body with every step you take with flip flops on), I'd like to know about the mud with crocs.
Do the suck down into the mud when you walk? Does it flip mud up the back of your legs? Does mud get all caked inside and if so, is it tolerable?
Just got myself a pair of crocs.. I got a pair of closed-toe'd ones but.. they just didn't feel quite right.. so I cut off the toe part entirely and now they rule

Thanks, Daisy! What shoe size(s) do you normally wear??
I have been trying them on and having a hard time deciding on the 7 or the 8. I usually wear 8 - 8 & 1/2 in all my shoes. The 8 Crocs are really floppy, but even the Crocs site says they're supposed to feel reeeally loose. The 7 feels good, I'm just not sure. I've gone ahead and ordered a 7, and I'll just give 'em to my smaller-footed Mommy if they end up too small. I guess the only way to know is if they end up blistery & uncomfortable.
Also, in the store, the lady told me if they fit good with the strap up, but then you put the strap down & they're tight - - - to take the strap off and stretch it real good. But yeah, they sell all the other cute little straps for 'em too. And my store has these funky little beady-things you stick in the holes; I forget the name, they're like charmlets or something.
Question: Does anyone buy/use the Croc Butter to clean theirs? Is this stuff basically like ArmorAll for your shoes?? Is it necessary - does it make them happy, shiny, & new? Does plain old water do just fine? -Thanks

I normally wear an 8 in everything. But the crocs in an 8 were just too big even with the strap around the back. The 7 feels like a much better fit but just too tight with the strap. I tried stretching the strap with no success..... I am pretty sure the velco strap will fix that problem. It should be here next week. I actually bought a small Beach pair before these 2 pairs and they were too small so I also gave them to my Mum
I heard about the cute beady things to go in the holes...... Almost a little too girly for me though I think!

i havent had any problems in the mud. if you put the heel strap back they work great. i couldnt tell ya if they flip the mud up. i always get that. just part of a fest i guess.
and as for croc butter i didnt even know it existed. i have put a lot of hard use on crocs and with i rinse they look like new. i wouldnt spend time or money on buttering them up.
and a 15 week old pit bull put a few dozen pokes in mine and that dosent seem to hurt them either.

I have embraced their uglyness and gone with the bright orange and the purple ones I never thought I would wear them because I was a diehard Birks fan but here I am with 2 pairs......
