how are the sight lines from the VIP section for What Stage? Last year the VIP guidelines mentioned an elevated platform (which I believe I noticed during the Oysterhead show)...will we be able to get into the bleachers?
Virgin roo here wondering the same thing. Is the view good from the VIP section? And is there enough space in the VIP section for everyone? (I'd hate to spend all this $ and never be able to actually get into the VIP section.) Is the VIP section close to the front?
I've just read through this entire thread (SO helpful -- you guys are amazing), but I do have a couple of questions:
Does anyone know (approximately) how many VIPs there are? 100? 1,000?
And did you find that the lines for VIP amenities (toilets, showers, food, bleacher section) were really long or not too bad? Were there a lot of bathrooms? Again, I'd hate to spend so much $ and discover that we're going to spend an hour in line (and miss lots of stuff) every time we're hungry or need to pee.

On the bleachers: Both bleachers are a good distance away from the stage- so we're not talking about amazing close views here... that said, I did use the Which Stage ones more than a few times, including a great relaxing bit during Death Cab. I haven't used the main stage bleachers, but I also hear they have a concession stand for free VIP food below them. I've never seen it so crowded that a VIP'er couldn't get on.
On lines: the only real lines were for the food-- and what's interesting is that this year they look to resolve that by having two different buffet tents, which should help that ALOT. Other than food though you'll find moderate to NO lines at the bathroom/showers; and lines to get through to Centeroo were non-existent. Many times I'd just go back to VIP to use the restroom or have a drink because it was nearly as close as any vendor/porta-john.
On #: Someone else correct me here, but I'd say there are about 1,000 VIPs. But that could be far less or more depending on RV space versus car space. Given that RV passes went up in cost, they may be offering more car space (and therefore VIP tickets) this year based on early RV numbers. Last year there was a TON of unused RV space, which made for nice open areas, but clearly a missed opportunity for revenue.
On Time: I believe you can pick up your pass as of 9am Thursday. You'll sail into your camp soon after that.

Hi,
Quick question about VIP, do you know if we have freinds that do not have VIP passes will they be allowed into the VIP campgrounds? We were kinda hoping not to have to ditch them.

Thx, jparks
no, they won't. you'll be able to visit them in GA though! and of course, everyone is allowed in centeroo

hmmm ok, I guess that makes sense. It sounds like even if that is the case that this is still the way to go. We were considering bringing an RV but it sounds like that really wouldn't be necessary given all the ammenties. Would you agree?

I'll be in an RV in VIP. i guess it depends on what you'd want the RV for, if you want it for nice bathrooms/cooking meals/showers it would be pretty unnecessary. but if you want it for an actual bed to sleep in/some privacy/air conditioning/being able to sleep in later than you would in a tent/ and basically anything but what was mentioned above, it would be worth it
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this
Hey all, I know there is a lot of chatter going on about VIP so I figured I would ask this...
1) Does anyone know, can you still buy regular price and then upgrade to VIP? I know that was available a few years back.
2) When you say food and drinks is that enough food and drinks to sustain you for the fest or is it just snacks?
3) Am I correct in assuming there are showers, real bathrooms and potable water?
This is my 5th Roo, so I'm trying to get these questions answered for some friends who are weighing going, it will be their first, they want to go but I think the cost scares them, I know from previous experience that this is how my wife and I will be going this year. Appears to be a no brainer, cost is a wash.
So, from what I'm reading there is a special entrance for VIPs coming into the fest? You don't get caught up in the mess? I guess no need to make a mad rush down there huh? I'm pretty sure I'm buying VIP tomorrow at this point. Dropping the kids off at the grandparents around Memphis and then heading east!
just a quick thought... if you are worried about late night or early morning food in VIP, grab 2 plates and throw one in a cooler or fridge for later. ;D
So Im a third time rooer but a first time VIPer.........I dont need convincing to go VIP, Ive paid my dues in GA and both years we were stuck in BFE as far out as possible just on opposite ends. So my questions about VIp would pertain to the bathrooms/showers.....how well are they respected in the VIP area? I understand alot less people will be using these but are they kept clean or at least tended to often. Also the showers, are they respected as well....I know they have to be better than taking a showers behind a garbage bag, but do people generally clean up after theirselves a little more in VIP than GA?

Hello Everyone. A newbie to the boards! Thanks to everyone for convincing me to go VIP! And thankfully i purchased the tickets last night, because i recently went back this afternoon and it appears as if VIP is SOLD OUT! This has to be a new record. I hope everyone that wanted the tickets got them, and if not, i hope that its a glitch in the system!
Question: How loud is the music from the main stage in the VIP camping area? I wonder if it is even necessary to bring a boombox for chilling at the campsite if the live music will always drown it out anyway. And if some night I'm lazy and don't feel like getting closer to the stage, will I miss much (audio)? Thanks!

Real loud. You can hear the shows really well from camp. IN fact, I could hear the shows while I was inside my RV.
I definitely encourage bringinga boombox though. You have Radio Bonnaroo running all weekend, and it's a great station to chill out and listen to during morning downtime, or whatever. The main stage is loud, but it doesn't have music the entire time.
