i use a mineral based makeup (powder stuff) i think its called mineralogy or something along those lines... anywhoo its blended to my skin tone and I've discovered that it doesnt match now that i've gotten some sun so i've got to go back to have it readjusted but thats not the point... point is... it blocks out like all sun my face is a completely different color than anything else cause it gets no sun due to the makeup (other than the past few days during which i havn't worn any, hence the color change) but i think physicians formula makes a cheaper virsion of this (as do several other makeup lines now) ... and since its so easy to just dust on I think I'll be wearing that (obviously over a good layer of spf moisturizer as well) ... oh yeah point again (i deviate alot) because all it is is a talc free mineral powder it works with your natural oils and so it doesnt run or sweat off and it is pretty water resistant as well, and you can adjust how much coverage you put on whether its a light dusting for evening out skin tone or a dab of powder (even adding it to your moisturizer) to use it as a concieler... love the stuff it will probably come with me, though i dunno if i will actually use it in my lazyness
someone already mentioned these but hippieshop.com and gypsyrose.com are cool sites. I got two of my three skirts from ebay just by searching for hippy/gypsy/bohemian skirts and they were cheap - $15.00 for one and $10.00 for the other
Old navy's dresses never fit me... they make me sad ... cause their stuff is always so cute... its what i get for being miniature in the breasticle region... wish i could say the same for my hips lol
*sigh* I promise, you have a much easier time finding things that fit with that problem than the opposite. Old Navy is one of the few stores where I can actually find dresses that fit Usually I have to stick to skirts and tops.....makes it kind of boring after a while. Or makes you want to learn how to sew.....nah. I learned long ago I don't have the patience for such things
i use jergens natural glow, it's subtle but it makes your "tan" look natural, and you build it up rather than turning orange after using it one time.
I've used the jergens too and it's better than most of those self tanning cremes, not as obviously orangey. I end up getting somewhat of a farmer's tan from weekend activities outside too, so it helps even that out. I am so bad about not wearing makeup on weekends or sunscreen so I usually have more sun on my face than anywhere else all year round. Loose powder with SPF is what I swear by in the summer, throw the suncreen on first, then go over it with the powder. Works better for me than anything else I've found in the awful humidity down here.
If you have started to age (like me) and have some small lines, avoid the mineral-powder foundation. The powder will stick in there and make them appear worse.
Which is a bummer because the coverage is so light and thorough. You young girls live it up

Well, makeup is a no-go for me. I'm going to be with a bunch of boys, sweaty with no mirror to put it on, so what's the point? Plus, if I start sweating I'll look like a raccoon after the mascara melts off (even with waterproof). So I'm not worried about makeup...but SPF is a definite! I'll probably buy a little bit of tinted moisturizer....I hate wearing lotion and then sweating, so non-oily sunscreen is a must.
As for clothes, I would love to wear skirts but I know I'll want to sit down on the ground which is a lot harder to do in a skirt (and still look like a lady at least!) so I'm going with shorts and tank tops. I'll probably bring a couple of long sleeved shirts and a pair of jeans too, but I wound up not wearing the jeans last year. Shoes...I just ordered a pair of green mary jane crocs, which I am super excited about! I might buy the ballet flats too, and bring a pair of flip flops if it stays dry. Last year I had some pretty awful blisters though...and Roo dirt in a blister is probably not the most sanitary thing on earth!
A word of advice: Don't take clothes that you care about getting messed up! I have several shirts and shorts that are so stained I can't wear them anymore. So keep that in mind!
I definitely thought I was the girliest girl ever @ Roo, but this definitely makes me feel better!

If I had a vote I would love to see as many ladies in skirts, the more skirts the better in my opinion. Also with the SPF/suntan lotion, if you need help rubbing it in, I will be glad to volunteer . Just look for the guy following skirts...lol!
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."

what is up with that? like roo isn't fun for all genders? ... like its impossible to go without your curling/straightening iron for four days? who am I kidding I'm already contemplating how the logistics of mascarra work at roo, but that is like number 84 on my priority list... that and if it isa at all possible to stave off aunt flow for a week... or have her come a week earlier maybe... one of the two cause I'm thinking she is going to visit at an inopportune time as is her usual temperment
That's a cool thread girls! I usually use powder because when I use the sunscreen my face shines too much. Any suggestions of a good non-oily sunscreen?
I just bought this dress on ebay, instead of one from frever21... Its longer, which I like... Also got a turquoise giant brimmed floppy hat to keep the sun off... I'm excited!
