i wore teva's on the first day and they were terrible, got blisters and they were uncomfortable (mind you i never wear them). the rest of the weekend i just wore my indoor soccer shoes which worked fine for me : )
Hey Everybody! I went with the two big recommendations before heading out to my first Bonnaroo this year. I went with Crocs and a pair of Sanuks. I did get blisters from the sanuks after walking around for like 4 hours straight the first day. After that my feet were pretty much wrecked for the rest of the trip but I made sure my corn intake was raised and everything went by just swimmingly. I must say that by the last day I really wished I can brought some good sneakers and socks!!!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
I got crocs after reading the Girly Post...everyone said they worked great for Roo. Mine were too wide so they kept sliding off my feet. I wore my ratty old navy flips that I have had for years and they were so comfortabe. After the rain I wore knee high socks with rainboots, and man that was comfortable...especially since the camping area had super high wet grass.
May try crocs again next year if I get a smaller size.

Some styles of crocks are slimmer. Caymen crocs look about like reg ones, bit are narrower. That might do the trick.

I feel like i should offer a refund or something...damn. Thing is, SO many new styles of Sanuks have come out since this thread got started, I doubt they are all as comfortable as the original Sidewalk Surfer canvas ones I rock. In fact I bought a second pair this summer that took a day or so to really break in. They never game me blisters, but they werent super comfy until the second time I wore there.
Still, I stand by my claim - Sanuks are the greatest 'Roo shoe out there... ;D

the thing with shoes is, you could get the most "comfy" shoes in the world, but if the FIRST time you ever wear them is walking around bonnaroo all day, you WILL get blisters
you gotta break em in for weeks before, and only then will they fulfill your podiactic needs
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Still say the need for Bonnaroo shoes is overstated. Well broken-in flip flops work just fine for me & other folks I know, though maybe we are particularly spry. Anyhow, we all know CarpeDM is getting a commission from his sales here, so take his rec's with a grain of salt

Maybe if SOMEONE got OUT more during Bonnaroo...instead of, you know, sleeping in their tent all of Saturday night instead of coming out and dancing their butts off @ Tiesto or MMJ or any late night show, they would appreciate the value of a dedicated 'Roo Shoe more!
And P.S. - If I were getting commission for this I'd be able to just be a festival junkie for the rest of my life. Maybe I should work on that.

Now I don't know what these sanuks are but they are sounding better and better...I take my Tevas with me every year and they have been great. Unfortunately this year I was going with a previously fractured ankle that hadn't healed all that well, so my foot was, I don't know, shaped differently...so I ended up with a blister. Fortunately it didn't really bother me too bad. But I don't want to chance it next year.
I didn't bring my crocs but I think I am going to this year, cause they are pretty comfortable...Now I have a question for the people that wore crocs all weekend.... I am a pretty clumsy person, did anyone trip while wearing them on the uneven ground out there?? I mean crocs have a pretty thick sole, which makes me nervous about wearing them out there. Cause it's almost a given that I would be the one to break my ankle at roo and leave on crutches

Yeah...I did a lot of tripping over my feet in my crocs. They were too wide for my feet and kept slipping off causing me to trip over them. I ended up wearing a crusty trusty pair of flip flops....until it rained, then it was tall socks with rainboots, which was amazingly comfortable.

i just found this product. its a product to prevent you from getting blisters when you are walking a lot of breaking in hiking boots. its sorta a cushy slick thing that you wear under socks but i notice on the site that it can be wore instead of socks. i think its a great idea. i just ordered some for my new hikers!

Sanucks gave me blisters also, no good in the heat. I use them for slippers now which they are good for. Had sneaks and socks also which served me well.

Get the adjustable velco strap which fit on any Crocs and they will fit better and stay on your feet. I have worn them for the past 2 Roos with no problems.
Last year I bought a pair of Keens and I loved them also - no blisters!!

Sanuks are STILL the way to go...as far as people reporting blisters - there is a small break-in period for most models. Maybe more than that for some, I cant keep track of all the new styles. As a rule though, the simple Sidewalk Surfer style can be broken in in 24 hours, and are ideal for 'Roo, at least in my experience.

I wore the mary-jane style Crocs and had no issues whatsoever. They stayed on my feet perfectly, and I didn't have blisters at all. I tripped sometimes, but that was because of my own clusmy issues and the giant holes I always seem to find in the ground. My legs were sore by the end of the weekend, but I don't think it had to do with my shoes; it was being up and on my feet for long periods of time, which I'm not used to.
Purplefuzzystuff, if you have a podiatrist (or whoever your ankle doc is), ask about getting custom insoles. I had that custom insoles made on two pair of Birkenstock clogs (they were also purchased through the podiatrist), and they are the most amazing things EVER. I wear them all of the time because they are so comfy, but only comfy to me! The podiatrist I went to had Birkenstock sandals available as well as the clogs. If it is a medical necessity, and your doc would be able to tell you, insurance should cover it.
