has anyone had any experience with hemp sidewalk surfers as opposed to the original canvas ones? they are extremely comfortable and breathable gonna be perfect for 'roo. I hope these dry out as easily as the canvas ones tho.

I busted out the Army issued combat boots...I witnessed many jealous stares as a tromped effortlessly through mud/gore at the end of the weekend chugging my malt liquor telling people to "stay hydrated". Man that was fun!
So after reading all the talk i went to buy shoes for Bonnaroo. i was lookingfor Sanuks or Crocs.
Sanuks: WAY over priced ($60 at REI) and not comfortable. Felt like wearing vans with no socks, sweaty feet and uncomfortable clamminess (a personal pet peeve of mine). they say they are sandals, but they aren't, they only have like 2 little holes for air flow otherwise they seem like shoes to me. Sorry to all the Sanuk fluffers!
Crocs: UGLY! (but i don't care, and why do so many others seem to care?), cheap ($10), and MUCH more comfortable and breathable than the Sanuks.

I wore Tevas in 06 they worked just fine, but now i need more arch support. And Teva has actually upgraded in that area recently. My vote goes for chacos if you can swing it, they are by far the most comfortable sandals i've ever owned. Z-1 unaweep
I originally ordered the sidewalk surfers, got them a size too big, broke a little bone in my foot trying to walk in them regardless of their large size, ended up ordering a smaller pair of the Donovan style and have hardly taken them off in three weeks. Love em. Yeah they make my feet sweat a bit, I wish they were more ventilated, but they are so comfortable. They really have the 'feel' of a sandal but sand and gravel and stuff doesn't get in and they don't slide around if your feet get wet - a huge problem with some of the sandals I have worn. I'm still going to end up taking my Keens and probably my Nomadic State 'JC' rope sandals, but I imagine I will be wearing these Sanuks most of the time!
^ yous gots big feet homie!! But yea, I had to order a size up as well, so anyone considering Sanuks I'd recommend going a size larger than what you normally where..
I'm bringing my Sanuks, but I will be wearing my Chacos... This will be their third Bonnaroo, and they are holding up fabulously. Most comfortable sandals ever.. They do have a slight funk to them though, hehe ;D

I'll be wearing Keen Newport H2s and Teva Mush flips. Those are my festie shoes of choice. Maybe a pair of New Balance sneaks in case I need a little extra support one day.
I don't think I'm going to bring boots...gonna live dangerously

I was just at DSW the other day and they had some cool Tevas and Birkenstock sandals ...I may need to buy a pair to switch with my Sanuks..I really don't think Old Navy flops can hold up for Roo
Chacos! I love my Z/2's. They give my feet one hell of a rad tan!
Yes, I will have my flips and my strappy chacos. I love them, they mold to my high arches so they are super comfy. But this thread isn't really about the best shoes, it's just for all the people who love Sanuck Sidewalk surfers

Then we should hijack it and spout praise for chacos! Viva el chaco!

Ordered some Sanuks to try out on your recommendation. Also the Patagonia Maui lights. (These will look cool on stage with my band as well). I'll throw my Danner Acadia desert boots in the car just in case. See y'all there.

I'm going to be the odd one out on this, but I'm wearing boots. I've worn hiking boots for all 4 roos I've attended. With... ahem... Wool socks.
Yes. Wool in 95+ degree weather. Does it bother me? Am I too warm? No & not really. And they're not some ridiculous Nanook of the North hunting socks, just simple mid-weight, wool hiking socks. Frankly, I prefer wool to cotton when it comes to socks; you can't beat the wicking action.
Oh... and I shake in a HEAFTY dose of Dr. Scholls Foot Powder to keep everything on the up and up.
Pic is my boots, but mine look far worse (or better... ) from all the trails and whatnot I've been stomping around on for the past 3 years.
Also, they happen to be the best pair of boots I've ever owned.
Edit: I'm also bring Tevas for back at the site...
Finally got a pair of Crocs and they are really comfortable. I will be bringing that and the pair of Rope Sandals I bought a Roo last year that are super comfortable. They are probably two of the ugliest shoes on the planet but man they feel good. My feet should be in heaven all weekend.

Hell... I guess I'll go order some Sanuks..... I have to try these out since they are made to seem like the miracle shoe.... I'm sure I will love them too!
I know it was mentioned in one post that Sanuks run small... Do I really need to order a size up? I wear 8.5 or 9 usually....

I saw some Sanucks at the store, and would have walked by them if it hadn't been for this thread. The ones I got are the same size as other shoes I wear, so I think sizing up just depends on your foot.
I pretty much only wear flip flops (all the time), and I've found that in 90-degree weather the Sanucks feel a little warm to me. So at Roo I'm planning on wearing my Croc flip flops during the day, and the at night put on the Sanucks.
