Me too. Mine are completely almost completely smooth on the bottom -- best flops I've ever had. I should probably go to the store and buy like 20 pairs of them in case they get discontinued or something.
BTW, just looked on the bottom of them, and noticed they actually are a size smaller than the Sanucks I got, so sizing up was probably a good idea after all.

going with the sanuks/crocs combo this year. sanuks will be primary but if it turns into something similar to 04 ill throw on my crocs and not have to worry about mud one bit. i brought them to a small camping weekend on a lake in maine last year where it rained and made mud pits in the camping area, especially the path to get to it and having crocs was the most amazing thing lol. i never had to take them off, i could walk through the mud then go straight into the lake without blinking an eye.
Just picked up my first pair of sanuks yesterday thanks to this thread. I love them, wish I would have known about them before. I got the Pick Pockets from REI. I am going to order the Kingstons from Zappos.

Someone mentioned them earlier. Vibram FiveFingers are amazing!!! They are very thin, so you don't even have to worry about ankle support (can't really roll your ankle if it isn't elevated by a sole). However, they have padding where it counts, and you can really feel the Earth as you walk; grass feels especially good. They are machine-washable and durable too! And they're virtually weightless and VERY breathable. I'll be rockin' mine this year.

^^ those are so crazyyy looking. i bet theyre awesome though. toe socks always kinda freaked me out though, so i dont think id be ok with wearing toe-sneakers lol.
whats everyones opinion on birkenstocks at roo?? i love em but i hjavent read much about em on this thread.... hmmmmmmm?
My experience with Sanuks has not been that they run small, but the opposite. I normally wear anything from a 7-8 in mens, but a size 8 Sanuk was HUGE on my feet. Size 7, which is a bit smaller than I would normally wear in other shoes, fits perfectly
I tried wearing a Croc for the first time yesterday... I have to admit, it felt pretty great. I feel dirty admitting it, but I might have to get me some for ROOO

wow those look pretty awesome...do you need to break them in? Obviously I would wear them before Roo, but Im worried about blisters in the back and around the toes walking all day in them or are they that comfortable? I want some
I got my sanuk donny's a few days ago. I love em so far. They are kinda stiff on the top when they are brand new. i wore them for a 1 1/2 mile walk yesterday, very very comfy. Highly recommend.
Thanks thread/inforoo!! I wouldn't have bought them if not for you guys!

I didn't need to break them in at all; the only "breaking-in" period is just getting over the weird feeling of wearing them. The strangest part is having your toes separated. It's not uncomfortable at all, just a slightly strange feeling. It really is akin to going barefoot. Let me tell you: walking on grass and dirt at Roo is going to feel glorious. There's something special about going through grass and dirt in these shoes. You feel what's under your feet, but you feel protected at the same time.
I recently gave them a big test. Over the past 5 days while working at a camp, I've worn them every day. I walked all day over hiking trails, roads, concrete, grass, and (very) rocky roads. Never once did my feet hurt. Near the end of the week, I did start to have some rubbing on my Achilles tendon, but it was because I got some dirt in there. And I've never had any problems with any rubbing on/between my toes what so ever. Again, the shoe really moves with your foot, so there's nothing for your foot to rub against.
So, in summary 1) No blisters and 2) yes, they really are that comfortable.
Breakdown of the types of FiveFingers:
Classic: Barely on your foot at all. I think these would slip off too easily.
Sprint: Classic plus one velcro strap. These are open on top still, so my thoughts were that dirt would get in too easily. They will stay on nicely.
Flow: Fully fabric covered with velcro strap. These were cool looking and will never fall off, but I found them much too hard to get on, and they didn't offer much more protection than the...
KSO: Fully covered but with very thin mesh instead of fabric on top, also with thick velcro strap. These were very breathable, felt more substantial, and offered a good amount of support. They will never come close to coming off, and because of the the mesh on top they are EXTREMELY comfortable.

Bought a pair of Sanuks today at Sun Diego. The hemp ones, too. They are SOOOOO comfortable. I didn't realize just how great they were, though, until I had to put my old shoes back on for work. Then I really appreciated them. Sanuks are win. I also started something up with a cute girl because of it (if you don't want to hear the rantings of a drunken man, stop reading now)
Basically, the convo went like this:
Me: Yeah, I'd like to get these maryjuana shoes, please? She: What? Me: They're made of pot! She: You mean hemp? Me: Yeah, sure, whatever you wanna call it I guess.
Then she said I could grab a Monster if I wanted, I asked if it was cuz of the purchase or if I looked good, and she said a bit of both.
So I put them on outside, felt awesome, and walked back in and said
Me: These feel great, thanks. She: I'm glad you like them Me: Do I have to return them to give you guys my phone number, or can I just give it to you now? She: You can give it to me now
And that's the story of how Sanuks hooked me up with a hot chick
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
Last year @ Roo I switched between two pairs of Sanuk Kerouac's and it worked out great! Was thinking of picking up a new pair for this year but am going to try on some Vibram Fivefingers first.
Dude, I seriously can't concentrate on anything but bonnaroo right now. . .It's to the point where I'm poking myself in the eye with foreign objects. . . I think I just need to be sedated until Tuesday. . . . Dystopian Dream
Just put my Sanuks to the real test a couple nights ago, went camping by a lake in the rain. They stayed firmly attached to my feet, without sliding or letting the edge of my foot roll over the sole, no matter how soaking wet and mud covered they got, unlike Keens and Tevas that I've owned. The only way in which they maybe weren't as good was in the traction-on-steep-gravelly-hills department, but that will hardly be an issue at Bonnaroo. They also dried quickly and don't hold mud stains. Awesome.

but up the steep gravelly hills is where all the cool stuff at Roo is

I wore a pair of Birkenstock sandals in 2007. They were very comfortable and didn't give my feet any problems at all. However, they did get extremely dirty and super smelly, rendering them pretty much unwearable after Roo. I'm going with Tevas this time around.

I just bought a pair of Sanuk Hepkats that are leather off ebay for $27 shipped, I plan on getting some kerouacs later, but should be fine for roo with my vagabonds and the hepkats. I will say that the stitching on my vagabond is coming undone uptop, but it should make it through roo fine. i might get it restitched somewhere, otherwise they have been used heavily and are great.

I am new to Roo, but I have done the New Orleans Jazz fest for 22 years. I usually end up with mole skin all over by the end of 6 days of walking, but this year I found a great shoe and only had one bandaid by the end of the fest. They worked great for 4 days at Summercamp. Merrell Waterpro Maipo are normally made for use around water. I got a pair for both my husband and myself. We put them on and were able walk long distance without any blisters. They have small holes in them so water will flow out. You can completely wash the shoes and insoles. I see many wearing Crocs and they are very comfortable. I am a little biased, because my mother broke her hip from a fall when her Crocs stuck to the walk. I also have high arches and so I have to wear shoes with soles that are sturdy and supportive. If you have any feet issues the softer shoes can lead to Plantar Fascitis, a painful heal and arch inflammation. Anyway, I will be walking the Roo in my Merrells. I am a convert.
I purchased the Sanuk "Yoga Mat" flip flop a couple of weeks ago. Though really comfy for casual flip flops, standing on them for moderately long periods of time, my heels began to really hurt. This is common for me & I'm thinking they just don't have enough arch support for me.
Since I prefer to wear flip flops at roo I think I'm going to order the Reef "D-lish" and give them a try. They have great ratings on various websites for arch support and they're a decent price.
Got 3 pairs of Sanuks for me and 1 for hubby. We haven't worn any other of our shoes since. He's looking for some he vcan get away with @ work now. I have never had shoes like this before. We have been tryin to tell people of their greatness but noone seems to understand.

Alright you Sanuks kids, I'm new to this and having a hard time deciding....
Getaways or Sidewalk Surfers?
I really like the idea of the Getaways but looking at them makes me nervous about losing them. Sidewalk Surfers looks like the safest bet but I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the Getaways before I purchased.
