My Sanuks (the hemp ones) were fine for water, but mud got them really nasty. Mine were covered in mud after the first day last year, and then they got really gross after they started to dry. I didn't try to clean them at Roo, but just spraying them with water would work fine (thats what I did once I got home). The other problem I had was a lack of traction. When it was wet, I slipped everywhere on the mud.
Unfortunately, I wore my sanuks out at school this past year (walking everywhere with them killed the soles) so I need to figure out new shoes for Roo. I'll probably just bring like 3-4 pairs of old running shoes. I wore a pair of them last year after my Sanuks got super dirty and they were perfect. They had great tread, had good support for my feet, and it didn't matter how dirty I got them because I didn't plan on wearing them again after Roo.

i'm running super low on money...I'm the only one out of my group that has bought stuff, and I need some great comfortable shoes...can I get away with some cheap chucks with Dr. Scholl's inserts?? Any suggestions?

I bought some Rocket Dog Chuck-knockoffs, I have an old pair of DC skate shoes, and 2 pairs of flops...I'm buying some rain boots, and I guess some sneakers...I wish I had some old sneakers, but I threw all of my old ones out when I moved last...like I said, I'm poor as dirt, at least until the middle of Bonnaroo, when I get paid via direct deposit (eek, atm lines...). Being a chick, I want to be comfortable and look at least half-way cute...possible?

I had thought about this (cheap shoes route with inserts), but now I'm hearing possible storms every day - so mud probable.
Maybe need mud/rain boots in addition to the cheap stuff, switch about halfway through the day.

Crocs were cheap enough for me. Yeah...theyre not the prettiest sight, but they've got different styles (especially for girls), some Sanuk imposters, and they're much cheaper than the better quality stuff. Gonna save up for a good pair for next year hopefully.

Keens are great! I have a pair that are like shoe/sandals. They are waterproof, and the inner soles are cloth-like (resistant to bacteria and smells) so they won't give blisters when wet or dry! They are very adjustable as well, to conform to your foot better. I love them. They were a bit expensive, but will last for 5+ years, and stay clean!

Function before fashion! I love my CROCS but I just bought a pair of Vibram Five-Fingers to try at Bonnaroo. They seem like they would be great to feel all the music that emanates through the ground.
We just got these at work, so I tried on a pair, and HOLY CHEEZITS, they are comfortable! I will probably buy a pair eventually, though not before Bonnaroo. But I couldn't definitely see myself wearing them at Roo. The footbeds are incredibly comfy and squishy.

mmm yeah. if i had the money this year, i woulda gotten the fivefingers too. i think you needa make sure you break them in *before* Roo though to make sure you dont get blistered and whatnot. Or maybe they're comfy enough to not wear out your feet from the start? *shrugs* I can't remember what I've read, lol
I just bought a cheap pair of of croc rips offs at walmart for $7. Been meaning to buy them the past 3 years, but put it off cause they are sooo ugly. But i have rocked flip flops every yr. Will be nice!!!
I wore Crocs every other year and they were ugly as hell, but comfy every day. I also have a pair of boots with sheepskin lining, and I put waterproofing on them and have worn them with knee socks and found them surprisingly comfy. Similar to Frye Harness boots, add a pair of insoles.
My husband just bought a pair of Vibram Five Fingers; wore them all yesterday and today took the dogs for a hike/run through the woods, on a gravel path, around a lake, in puddles. He said they were amazing - very comfortable on all terrain. He wore old skate shoes or Vans in the past, even one year wore Chacos but found the Vibrams far more comfortable and breathable.

I'm bringing old trail runners to hike our leno from BFE to tent-only and back, sanuks for daily, dry weather use, and rubber boots for the rain, mud, and muck.
In my experience, that's the one weak point of Sanuks. They're not very comfortable once you get them wet/muddy. The good thing is, you can just spray them off and dry them out and clean up fine, but until then, they're not the shoe you want for poor weather.
Other than that, my Sanuks are my usual shoes when the weather is nice. I'll be wearing mine for the Roo this year and I'll bring my pair of boots for a backup in case of mud. I can't recommend them enough!
A Thieve's Parade 2/24 Conspirator 2/26 Kevin Smith 3/11 Keller 3/17 Papadosio 3/18 JJ Grey 3/25 Bela Fleck/Edgar Meyer 3/26 Toubab Krewe 3/27 O'Death 4/11 Budos Band 4/22 EOTO 4/28 Summer Camp 5/6-29 All Good
I got my Sanuks a few days ago and have been wearing them trying to break them in. I do really like them but I'm not sure they were worth $50. Oh well.

i accidentally solved the ugly croc problem...I left my black ugly crocs in the sun and they literally shrank to a perfect size, that is slightly more snug but they don't have the backs anymore...however, they stay on much better with all their rubbery awesomeness.

Just for those considering buying a new pair, I thought I'd share my little bonnaroo shoe test run. I am bringing one pair of Sanuk flops (the kind like JHOinTN just got for work), a pair of Teva flops that have super cushy bottoms, a pair of crocs (the semi-mary jane style with the holes in the top), and a pair of rubber boots. I've had all of these shoes for a couple of years so they're all broken in real nice. I've been doing yard work all day and I wore each one for a couple of hours to see how they compared. The Tevas and Sanuks were tied for most comfy. The Crocs really weren't too comfy, almost like going barefoot because of the little support. Obviously, my target rubber boots came in last. I'm really just taking the crocs as backup. Also, in dusty conditions (and probably wet ones too) my feet get SO dirty in the crocs. Even more than flip flops. I'll never forget how wearing flip flops in bonnaroo mud will get your whole body dirty! The shoe will suction to the mud and when it breaks, mud gets slung all over you. We came home with muddy hats from this. Never going without mud friendly shoes again!
I bout a pair of keen Venice yesterday and wore them for about sixteen hours on my feet. Very comfortable, and afterwords my feet felt fantastic. They were 75.52 out the door and well worth it.
