My first Roo I wore boat shoes that did the job but they stunk so bad that they went from the garage to the trash. This year I'm going with the CarpeDM's and I'm pretty sure my feet will be comfortable. I just hope they don't follow the same fate as my boat shoes when I get home.
You mean like Sperry's?
Yeah but they were a cheap knockoff of Topsiders. They were well broken in before I got there. I like to wear topsiders all year because they're comfy and easy to kick on and off and actually keep your feet warm enough when there's not a foot of snow on the ground.

This is probably Inforoo blasphemy, but I don't love my Sanuks. They're Ok for lounging around. But they provide no support at all. So I don't know that they'd be great for standing around for hours on end at Roo. I think my go-to footwear will still be the Keens.

My Honey took one look at mine and said the same thing. She needs arch support and that is one thing Sanuks will not do. I love em.

I've always wondered about that because they are totally flat and it's the reason I have not purchased any yet. I think I will stick with my Keens.
I've got bad feet, really really, orthotic made, prescription using, handicap placard for Roo bad feet and want to just share a little advice.
If you have any problems with your feet at all wear what is comfortable for you the rest of the year and just plan ahead. About the only shoes I can wear for any amount of time are Dansko's which get the arch right, New Balance with my orthotics (which I ain't doing on the farm, those suckers are too expensive to get wet or muddy!!!) or I swear to God my prescription Crocs. BTW crocs are ugly as sin but they do work for the weather.
Anyway find what works for you, break them in before you get to the farm and bring extras you can change in and out of. If you want to wear flip flops but your feet can't take it, save them for when you get to Centeroo and can chill.
So are Toms completely out of the question? I haven't really been able to find anything about them on here. All my friends that have them love them, say they dont rub blisters, but they may not have very good support. I've been wanting to get some for a while, but its between them and Sanuks. Any insight?

I've never worn Toms but if you really need support don't go with Sanuks. They are flat sole. From what I've seen of Toms they seem similar to Sanuks that way. I'm going with Sanuks but have no problem with needing arch support. Got duck feet!

I have pretty flat feet as well. The only time I have problems is when I'm standing still for long periods of time (I'm a cashier at Publix, UGH!) and even good tennis shoes can't stop the back pain! I'll probably go with the Sanuks, they're so similar in price so that's not a problem, but they probably breathe easier...which is good for my sweaty feet. Thanks!
This is my first year going to roo and i plan on wearing toms... i have been wearing my toms on college campus for a couple of months now and ive never found a shoe so comfortable.. and as flat as they look they do have a bit of arch support. after reading all of these other posts, i may also get a pair of sanuks or crocs to bring as an extra pair of shoes.

I love my toms too much to risk getting them muddy and/or dusty at roo. They are super comfortable (not much support, though, as mentioned) for walking around town, but I don't know if they're a good option for roo.
I'll stick with specimenq5 and say flip flops (preferably Havaianas because they are the most durable) and Crocs are my choice. They are just the most practical for the mess and the heat. Nothing is worse than have stinky feet in a tent at the end of the day.

i keep the keens whisper as trail shoes for breaks on hikes, theyre amazing! too hot for roo, ill be rocking the barefoot look again
i just posted this in the fashion thread but wanted to mention it here. im the type who is much more comfortable in heels. my arches kill me in flat shoes - especially if im standing a lot like at a show. by the end of the day i feel like i have bruises on my arches. someone gave me these hints and they really help if you have arch pain. a couple of times per day sit down and strech your legs out front. now grab your toes and pull them toward you stretching your calves. this will take some strain off of your arches. now stand up and then squat deeply balancing on your toes. this will stretch out the arches of your feet and feels GREAT. these are great exercises which can be done most anywhere and which can really rest your arches. the other thing that works is to take a tennis ball sized ball (rubbber one works fine) try balancing on the ball with the ball in the arch. if you cant then just roll your feet over the ball focusing on putting as much weight as you can on the arch. if you have arch issues this will feel GREAT and will rest your feet a great deal.

I wore sandals last year and had no problem. However whatever they sprayed the grass with created an allergic reation to my feet and walking, wearing anything hurt bad. This year I'm trying the Sanuks, as suggested. I got the holy moly hemp style.
I can't see myself wearing anything but flip flops. Thats all i wear summer spring and fall.
you may not see it now. but if it rains like crazy like in 04 and ther is mud to ur ankles in areas of centeroo ur REALLY gonna want another option than flipflops. i promise.

are crocs really that comfy to walk around in?
yes, except i heard that the black ones get really hot in the sun. so when u put em on it can be kinda ouchy.
really their unattractive and not stylish but i will never again go to another roo without mud boots never ever ever. i dont wear them with high socks either just high enough to go over my ankle. also a plus is also that you feel like a total badass when you plow through 12+ inches of mud while a few thousand people behind you cling to their foot wide path of semi-dry ground. and if they get hot i fold them over and the go like shin high i love them the only roo footwear for me.
Finally bit the bullet and ordered a new pair of shoes. Teva let me down and I like the look of these Keens. I like Keen but haven't worn a pair in years.

Hopefully these will work like magic.
Just make sure to wear them in first. I had a newer pair last year and they made my feet sore. My worn in pair were wonderful though.
