is there really 37 pages needed for a best shoes thread? i can see 2 maybe.
hey I thought shoes were a pretty important and from the way it looks 36pgs agree. Mines suckeded last year and I had strap bruises I will taking all the advice here to have a more comfy experience...
I wore bikila Vibram FiveFingers last year and the only thing I didn't like about them was sand would get in them, but I don't think there is a shoes that wouldn't. They were great though. Many people told me they were a bad idea but my back as knees felt great.
I'll probably switch between those and New Balance minimalists this year.
Not dealing with socks is big, sprinkle some gold bond and GO
I was wondering if anyone had done roo in FiveFingers. I'm obsessed with mine. The lack of arch support was managable after a hard day of walking?

It is worth at least 37 pages if even one person doesn't make the mistake of going to Bonnaroo with bad shoes. My friend wore some awful shoes in 2009 and I had on a pair of old sneakers and both of us were miserable the whole time. Last year I went with a pair of Keen's at it was a world of difference.
after reading this thread last year, I purchased my first pair of Sanuks before last years Roo. I have fallen in love with them, and will probably own at least one pair at all times for the rest of my days!
In 2009 my feet were destroyed after wearing chucks all weekend, and I tend to always wear chucks, or did at least until my affair with Sanuks began.

My friend did those FiveFingers shoes. He said they were great and didn't give him a problem at all. I'm thinking of investing in a pair for this year actually.
Thanks to the recommendations of this thread I just bought a pair of Sanuks Yoga Serenity for cheap on ebay! I'll switch between those and my tried-and-true New Balances which have travelled the world and still shed dust from last year's Roo.

I went barefoot about 90% of the time i was at roo. I think i wore my crocs a few times to shakedown street but i mainly did it fred flintsone. The rocks by the arch kinda suck ass but other than that no complaints!
i did the five fingers last year in TO and hated every step i took! i was so greatful i brought another pair of shoes with me. I could feel every rock i stepped on.
being an avid bare foot person and owner and wearer of FiveFingers... you have to condition your feet to no support and the rugged terrain that your feet see.... you cannot expect to go from Newbalances to fivefingers and them feel the same... try wearing the Fingers more often and adapting your feet.. getting the souls of your feet tougher......... or just man up...
just bought a pair of sanuks today and they are so comfy i may not take them off again until there is no sole left on them.
That's what I've been doing since 08. I actually want to buy a different pair of shoes (for non-bonnaroo parts of the year) but I don't know where to start. Sanuks are all I know now.
I bought a pair of sanuks for my first Roo in '08, wearing them right now, almost worn through the sole, might have to get a new pair, but the best $20 I've spent (before they got uber popular and started selling for $60+ at places like EMS and Dicks Sporting goods).
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
I tried on a pair of those yoga mat sanuks this weekend at Abadabas in Little 5 Points. They were super comfortable and reasonably priced. I liked them a lot! And from what I can tell in my moderate noob-ness, Sanuks mean a great deal to you Roosters for causes other than just footwear, which is great. I commend that greatly!
THAT said, I am seriously considering a pair of the flops, BUT my concern is--have you ever seen a wet yoga mat? Its as though it'll never dry and it makes weird squishes. I am concerned that may be bothersome if they get wet on the farm. It may be an uncomfortable weekend with squishy shoes. Anyone encounter this with the yoga flops?
These were about $5 cheaper. I grew up in tevas when I camped as a kid, so I'm already partial to them. They were almost as comfy and they have this cool feature where the straps adjust like shoelaces do, so you can tug on it on one area and it'll give in another, which makes me think it'll provide some great foot support throughout the day.
I'm going to chew on both pairs for another week or so and I'll probs go back and pick up a pair. Or maybe I'll get both! Who knows?!

I love my Merrels I have almost worn through the soles on my jungle mocs. they are definitely worth trying out.

So I own a bunch of pairs of Sanuks already, but I was planning on wearing something a little more durable/with more arch support. Should I just nix that plan from what I'm reading and go with my oh so comfy sanuks? I've walked around a city for a few days before wearin my sanuks and my feet were doggin me badly. Is that just because I was walking on asphalt? Also, I really don't like the idea of them being exposed to the mud and "other" brown substances on the farm.
Any words of wisdom on a pair of good hiking shoes would be welcome.
^^ Do you have a pair of sneakers? If they're broken in, they're way more breatheable & light but still offer arch support and protection from wacked-out dancers. Of course if it's a mudaroo we're screwed but that's when you go all Lord of the Flies and lose the shoes and cover yourself in mud anyway.

After my first bonnaroo I had blisters on my feet for about a month. This will be my fifth year and from my experience the thing that works best for me is to wear a really light tennis shoe for the walk in and take a pair of flip flops in and change. I always have a bag going into centeroo so what's a pair of shoes added to my bottles of water that i'm carrying in?

reef flip flops. that is all i take. i took a pair last year and they were extremely comfortable. the same pair are comin back with me. and theyve got bottle openers!
I Bought these at Target. They are Target's own brand Mossimo supply Co". I paid $18 on sale although they are normally $22. I have been wearing them for two weeks now & they are extremely comfortable. No problems with blisters. The soles are thick & they actually feel like walking around on sneakers. At $18 I wont even be upset if they get ruined in the Bonnaroo mud.
I have been wearing Mossimo sandals for the last 4 summers and I love them. They are cheap and pretty durable for less than $20.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Does everyone wear the Sanuk sandals or the beach shoes? I have been wanting to purchase a pair for awhile but this might give me a reason to actually do it.

Any thoughts on wearing hiking boots in the evening, assuming it's dry? I was thinking that these would come in handy as I try to get in close to see the headliners. These are the ones that I plan on bringing:
For daytime walking I plan on investing in some Sanuk's as others have recommended, and I'll have a pair of Vibram Chaco sandals strapped to my CamelBak in the event that I encounter some Sanuk gobbling mud.
BTW, this will be my first Bonnaroo and I'll be driving in from Austin, TX. Very, very excited about this and doing all that I can to prepare myself for the festival so that I can enjoy it to the fullest.

I will be acquiring a fresh new pair of Sanuks to ruin at Roo for the 4th time. They never fail me... well actually they DID fail me in the craziness of Gogol last year, but that's inevitable with a slip on shoe. Sanuks = my feet feeling amazing all week
