For non-sandal lovers I'd highly recommend some good ole' low-top Merrils or basically anything you'd go hiking with during the summer. They have moderate water-proofing and breath pretty well, and since you'll be walking more than ever, you are going to need something comfortable. You may not want to spend $100 on a pair of shoes for this but this is the place you'd need the best outdoor footwear. I already have a broken in pair so it's not an issue... you can probably find some Colombia's (or Merrils for that matter) on sale at a discount shoe place though... I found some ugly ones for $40 one time that are perfect for Bonnaroo.

A little steep (about $70 MSRP), but the Nike Roshe Run are a great light, comfy shoe perfect for Rooing til your heart's content. They come in an assortment of colors to match your roo mood.

Been wearing my Native Corrados for 2 months straight now, and I love them. They're so comfortable and crazy light and airy. Can't wait to try them out at roo.

How does the sizing run on those? I see they don't make wides but didn't know if they maybe ran wide in general.

They actually run a bit on the long & narrow side (insert rimshot), I usually wear an 11 and I got a size 10. They were the perfect length, but a little tight on the sides at first but after walking around in them for a bit they fit like a dream. Most shoes I've owned have needed breaking in though.

March 16 Arcade Fire
April 29 Arcade Fire
Sept 4 Wilco
Sept 9 The Hold Steady

That's what I finally bought. I like them, but am hoping to love them after they're fully broken in.
I'm also thinking about buying a pair of cheap crocs as backup. Hate they way they look (doesn't everyone?) but if they're my throw-away pair for 'Roo, then it's worth it.
I mean, there is 39 useless pages of crap which all have at least one posting per page about Sanuks, I don't get it . Why is there 39 pages?
Not useless crap.
It's sort of a tribute to a great forum member who has passed away while attending the festival. He was one of the first people pushing Sanuks as the best festival footwear. Many people thanked him for the advice and he contributed to the forum in other fantastic ways. If you go to the first page of the thread you'll see his post (user name "carpedm1").
After he passed away some members here got in contact with Sanuk and enough people voiced their praises of Matt and Sanuk graciously offered a new color/style in memory of Matt.
Just read about Mr. Sloan, seemed like a nice guy. If his early demise teaches first timers like me anything is to listen to your body & not to over do it.

I just wore Old Navy flip flops last year and was completely comfortable. But after reading this thread I'm tempted to buy some back up shoes to take with me. So glad I work at Zappos.

Let me rephrase, this entire post isn't crap, but seriously Sanuks are some of the best shoes for the event.
His efforts to promote the brand is awesome and shouldn't be forgotten, and certainly not undermined, I just was wondering why the need for more answers than just the Sanuk, for your Bonnaroo experience .
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

I will never wear anything else but Crocs at music festivals. Best festival footwear ever, rain or shine, mud or dirt.
You dont get blisters? I like crocs to wear for yardwork and to run errands in the summer but I couldnt imagine wearing them for 4 days straight. I will probably bring mine in case it gets muddy but I strongly recommend Sanuks for most of the time.

I've never been to Bonnaroo but I have been to several music festivals and I would never just bring one pair of shoes. I dont think I would even stick to a single pair for one weekend. I would recommend switching it up to give your feet a break. I usually take a pair of flip flops, a pair of tennis shoes (I recommend a good pair of running shoes), and then something crocs or sanuks.

I need some help please. My husband is coming to his 1st Bonnaroo & he's trying to figure out which style Sanuk to get. He has a size 10 narrow foot, skinny ankles. He's trying to decide b/w the Chiba, Vagabond, Carpe Dm, & Hemp. He hates flip flops & almost all sandals. He lives in his size 10 running shoes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated on the best style & whether to size up or down. Thanks!

I just got some Carpe Diems and they are one of the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. They are very true to size. I would strongly recommend getting a pair. They are nice because they have ventilation of a sandal but wear like a shoe so they would be perfect for your husband.

I've only tried the CarpeDMs so I can't give you a comparison but I love mine. If you go with them get a 10 and they will conform comfortably. Don't size down because width isn't really that important.

I have a pair each of the Chiba, Vagabond, and Standard Slip-Ons. They all are awesome. The Standard Slip-On has a shoe bottom instead of the flip-flop bottom. There might be a store that sells Sanuks around you where he can go try some different ones on.

Around Knoxville, I have seen Sanuks at Sears, Gander Mountain and a shoe outlet. Since they don't come in boxes, they are usually located on a rack somewhere in the shoe department. Look around your area and he may be able to try them on. The Sidewalk Surfers run wide in my opinion which is one of the reasons I like them. As someone above stated, the Standard are more like shoes and run narrower than the Sidewalk Surfers.

Bought a pair of the Sanuk Donny's yesterday and should have them by Wednesday. They look exactly the same as the Carpe DMs, but the price was much better on Amazon.
