Thanks for the advice guys! Just got some Sanuk Carpe DMs and they should be arriving either monday or tuesday... Hoping that's enough time for them to be broken in!
I've got two pair and both were awesome from day one. No worries on breaking em in.
Agreed. Comfy as hell the second you put them on your feet.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

The other thing I love about Sanuks, which is especially good for post-Bonnaroo is cleanup. They usually come back muddy and/or dusty, so I just take them outside, spray them with a hose, let them dry, good as new.

Another vote here for Tevas...I've always really loved sneakers and wear them all the time, and sneakers were ok for my first two Roos, but this year I invested in some Tevas and wow! My dogs were in heaven all weekend. Plus they're super easy to get on and off if you wanna do some barefoot dancin'!

My Tevas decided to mutiny at Roo this year. I have worn them plenty and for extended periods of times. I wore them Thursday this year and I could already feel multiple places that would hurt like crap for the rest of the weekend and/or would turn into blisters. Goes to show that you always bring back-up pairs of shoes.

I've had this happen to me as well, for some reason Tevas(as great as they are) seem to go rogue at the random, worst, possible times.

Is it bad that I am a straight guy and I brought 4 different pairs of shoes to Roo and wore 3 of them.
Sanuks during the day, tennis shoes at night, flip flops for the bathroom, shower, and food runs. Crocs never got uses though.

Chacos kick ass. For people that are Teva fans, this is right up your alley. I've had mine going on 6 years and they have been nothing but the best. The continuous strap that goes through the sole eventually conforms to your feet, meaning you won't have to strap them down after a few months. Lightweight with a big enough sole (thats a Vibram sole for those hiking fans out there) to cushion/protect the bottom of your feet from just about anything.

I wore Teva flipflops again, the cross style. I brought my worn in ones from last year and purchased a new pair with sparkles on them. The sparkles dug into the sides of my toes so those will stay home next year and I ended up wearing the same pair from last year. After two Roos, Freefest, and all 2011 summer they are still going strong.
I've worn Sanuks in the past, but this year I wore a pair of Adidas kicks most of the time and they worked out great. They were already broken in and kept my feet comfy. They're made out of canvas so I just tossed them in the washer after roo. I like the comfort, support, stability of a solid pair of shoes, but sanuks are awesome to be able to slip off your shoes easily and dance barefoot.

Just wondering, I haven't been through the entire thread (it's very long), but has anyone ever thought of wearing like, Dr. Scholl's inserts? In all my pre-Roo researching that I did I never saw anything about gel inserts. How come? Bad experiences? I've honestly never worn them, so I don't know if they are bad in general.

I bring along a pair of boots every year just in case the weather takes a turn for the worse. They're my US Army standard issue warm weather boots and I have Dr. Scholl's in them. They're nice, keep the weight on your feet and ankles spread evenly. But I wear Chacos all weekend long usually, they're supportive, easy to slip on and off for dancing and you can run, pull them through mud, etc. without worrying about the infamous sandal blowout. I also have a problem with my feet getting too hot with shoes and socks on out in the heat. But hey, some people would rather wear shoes. If you go that route, get some that are broken in, some you're not worried about getting abused / fucked up and I would suggest a good inner sole like Dr Scholl's and an awesome outer sole like Vibram or similar. You're gonna be on those feet a lot.

All right. Thanks! yeah, honestly the only time I would ever wear chacos would be to Roo, and they are pretty expensive so I don't want to spend the money. I have some Sanuks, which are good, but my feet did hurt last year so I feel like Dr. Scholl's would be kind of a cheap alternative instead of buying more shoes.
Btw, I'm not saying Sanuks are bad, I would definitely recommend them. I brought a couple of other shoes and Sanuks beat them. I'm probably just a wimp

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before, but I'm a HUGE fan of the sandals Nomadic State of Mind sells. They've been through six festivals (plus basic everyday wear) with me, and while they're wearing out, they've still got some life in them.

I've found that just a comfortable pair for flip flops for the day time and a good pair of tennis shoes for the late nights is the best plan, for me at least.
Well my first year I wore cheap Old Navy flip-flops... huge mistake, the straps cut into my feet and I had open sores and it was just gross.
Last year I bought Sanuks because I read on a similar thread that they were the greatest... I don't really like wearing anything other than flip-flops anyway (I live in Orlando, can get away with it) so I bought the Yoga Serenity version.
Ohmygod. Best shoes ever. Not only did they last through Bonnaroo, but I wear them almost every single day and they still look brand-spanking new. It's really worth the $30, but get them on Amazon. If you have a Prime account there's usually free 2-day shipping options
The only downside is if it rains. Last year we left Monday morning and it was pouring down rain (try putting away a tent in that... yeah really quacking fun) and they tend to soak up water, so that when you're in a dry place again they squish and squelch out and it's pretty weird... hose them down, squeeze them out, let them dry and you're good to go.

I like to put a little Dawn in my sanuks so when they get that squishy they release bubbles and make your feet nice and clean.

After two Roos, I still confirm that Chacos and Crocs are the way to go. Chacos are great for the long walks, mud, whatever else you might be stepping in. Crocs for standing around and enjoying the shows!

As far as Merrells, I like the Moabs. I like the look of the Moab Ventilator, but don't know about that one specifically. The last couple of years I wore the Keen Alamosa, which is a really good waterproof hiking shoe, similar to the Moab. I usually take a couple of different shoes, but the Alamosa is awesome

I wear a pair of old leather boots with sherling interior, sort of like Frye Harness boots. Waterproof them, they have been to half a dozen festivals and do me well. Each year I replace the insoles with Kiwi work boot ones for women (can find at Target, Walmart, etc.). The sherling keeps my legs cool, the insoles really do help (get the kind you can cut to a custom fit), and the boots work rain, shine, dust, and mud. Think they also look cute with dresses and denim cutoffs.
