Sanuks were my best investment for Roo 2011. At the time, the style I wanted wasn't available on Amazon so I payed $55+shipping from the Sanuk site. Totally worth it though. They breathe easily and are VERY comfortable after they've been worn a few times. If you are in-between sizes go down because they tend to stretch. Now, I have two pairs of Donna Sidewalk Surfers that I wear frequently and I'm close to buying a 3rd pair just so I can have a variety of colors. I promise you will wear these all the time and not just for Roo!
Sanuks have to be some of the most comfortable footwear on the planet! I got a pair when they first started selling them in the PX-now they are the only thing I wear outside my Zemgear!
I wore them my first Roo and they were fine but keep in mind that as a guy I wear the same shoes for years until they wear out. They were really well broken in. I wouldn't wear a newer pair because you will be putting a lot of miles on your feet and may blister. After 2008 I switched to Sanuks and have never worn anything else (on my feet, I mean).

I wore these last year, because I was able to get them through work for 40% off. I'm glad I did, as they were extremely comfortable. Plus, they made me feel like I was 9 years old again, haha. I'll definitely be taking them this year as well.
How do you think these would be at roo? this is mine and my girlfriends first year going and that was the first thing i thought of was my shoes.(I sorta have a attachment to my vans.)
Those should be good bc they look comfortable and would dry out quickly after getting wet (which is almost a certainty). I love the reviews where some people like their durability and others say that they wear out quickly.

Mine last me at least 6 months if not longer I'm really ruff on my shoes but I just usually get a new pair when a pair gets a hole in the canvas or whatever it may be.
You guys are really making me want to buy a pair of sanuks. I wore tevas to both years I went to bonnaroo, but I just didn't feel comfortable with them. Even after wearing them out. The whole walking on rubber feeling was just not for me. I wore TOMS to Wakarusa and it was definitely better than the Tevas, but my feet still were somewhat swollen. Figured it was from all the walking.
I have my pair of Sanuks I bought in 2010 for Roo. I think the bottom heel is starting to peel off now. Any ideas on how I should repair this These are the Carpe DM's and I hate to have to buy myself another pair.

Keens are the best sandals for 'Roo hands down. I have the willow model, which is also marked as being a water sandal. I also was very comfortable in a pair of hemp sandals that I bought while at 'roo last year. The brand name of them is escaping me at the moment. I also brought a pair of mary jane Crocs for when it rained. I was more than comfortable in all of these. They all washed up nicely after the festival, and are ready for this year. :-)
Hands down? I respectfully demand a show of hands before this will be decided so swiftly, as Sanuks are now the only sandal I will wear!
I don't know how anyone could tolerate open-toed sandals at Roo. Admittedly, I'm not a huge sandal guy, but I do wear them when appropriate on hot summer days. I tried in 2011, and I got 794 stones under my toes - on the first walk from camp to Centeroo. The sun on my tootsies was nice, but after a day and a half I gave up and put my running shoes on. Lesson learned.

Does anyone know? Would Sanuks work for wide feet? Thanks.

I'm really digging the Sanuk ballet-flat sidewalk surfer - "Trippy Toes". But I'm concerned about how they will hold up at Roo; the sole is very thin compared to the other sidewalk surfers. Anyone have these, or know someone who does, or just have an opinion on wearing these at a festival?

don't know anything about them but they are really cute! I just ordered some Sanuks, the June Bug style, and I can't wait to get them.
also, I don't know if it's been mentioned (there are a few too many pages to go back and read) but I am wondering how Sanuks hold up in rain/mud? I am also considering bringing my old-school Teva sandals and will definitely be bringing my Keen trail shoes since I hope to fit a run in somewhere. I always overpack and am trying to avoid bringing too many shoes, so any input is appreciated. I did bring rain/mud boots in 2010 (since I was miserable in the mud of 2009) but it was way too hot and dry to wear them, and they take up valuable room in my bag so I'm looking for a better option in case of rain

Oh, GREAT. Now we know where to point a finger when it rains like crazy and we have Mudaroo 2013! I will certainly be bringing my muck boots even if I have to tie them to the roof of my car, because they have proven to be magical items capable of preventing rain. There is never excessive rain anywhere I take them. Should I bring extras? Not to share with the ill-prepared, but to make up for other people angering the rain gods by NOT bringing boots?

that is hilarious and also true! any time I have ever packed serious rain gear for a trip, there is nary a drop of condensation to be found. on the other hand, when I flippantly decide to trust a 0% precipitation weather forecast I end up looking for an ark. thanks for bringing me back in line on this one, consider my boots packed!
i just got a pair of sanuk overboard sunbrella and they would fit perfectly except they chafe the back of my foot at the achilles horribly. what would be the best way to fix this? im thinking somehow attach a different/smoother fabric in that spot that wouldnt chafe. a patch sized bandaid would probably work but im not sure id enjoy having those on for most of the weekend.

On Sunday night last year while leaving the What Stage area, I stepped in a giant mud puddle with my Sanuk's. They hold up fine but I would recommend rinsing them off with water right away. I didnt do that and mine stained. If I would have went to a fountain and rinsed them off, they probably would have been fine. You can wash them by throwing them in a pillow sack and into the wash machine. Just allow them to air dry rather than put them in the dryer.
The more shoes, the better IMO. I plan on taking my Sanuks for daytime wear, my Keen sandals in case in rains or is muddy, some running shoes for the evenings, and some flip flops for walking around the camping area.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

I have a pair of brown leather Chuck Taylor's I wore for my first Roo. I then wore them last year. I wanted to wear them again, but the straps for my snowshoes fucked them up. I will still wear chucks this year, and I may bring the old ones and bury them somewhere at roo
Looks like Sanuks are a big hit. I was checking them out on Amazon and it seems the cheapest are around $50 right now. Is there anywhere else you can find them for cheaper?

Amazon's prices change pretty often. Keep an eye on the deals thread, too.
