Looks like Sanuks are a big hit. I was checking them out on Amazon and it seems the cheapest are around $50 right now. Is there anywhere else you can find them for cheaper?
Amazon's prices change pretty often. Keep an eye on the deals thread, too.
I ordered the June Bug Sanuks and have been wearing them nonstop since they came in two days ago, they are awesome!! I got mine from this site: www.campsaver.com/footwear?brand=3623

What are peoples thoughts on a cheap pair or cowgirl boots, as long as theyre waterproofed, course since theyre cheap it wont matter if they get messed up as much... Definitely breaking them in between now and Roo, and buying an insole with some support... thoughts?? My only concern really is how hot my feet might get... I suppose a good boot sock that wicks away moisture might do the trick...?
Cool boots! I have a pair that look just like those, only probably a lot bigger. They're comfy, but I don't wear them much in the summer except in my wood shop, since it is generally cool in there and I love that sawdust and stuff brushes off easily. I would worry about the heat, though if we get mud some hot boots will be better than no boots, for sure. I'm bringing some ugly rubber muck boots to cope with the worst case scenario, though I am hoping not to need them this year, just like last year. If you are planning for rain storms/mud/locusts/plague/etc., bring 'em. Keeping your feet dry is essential in my book, but lighter and more breathable footwear is recommended if the weather is dry and hot.

After reading a lot of good reviews, I picked up these Keen sandals for all my Bonnaroo and summer adventures this year. I'm thinking I'll also get a pair of Sanuks.

^^^ I have those exact sandals. I didnt bring them last year because I had left them at the lake but I will definitely be bring them this year and supplement my Sanuks. Will definitely be a nice thing to have if it rains and gets muddy.
Turtles are, actually quite sexy, if you think about it. I’m getting an erection just thinking about turtles. No, not a stripper named turtles, that’s not funny. Actual turtles.

Thanks to this thread I now have Sanuks on the way! I also got some Crocs today at the store. They're awesome and they don't like I thought a croc looked like. I've been having foot pain the last week cause of bad shoes and already I feel relief!
Thanks Inforoo! (Read that in the corniest voice you can to get maximum effect.)
boat shoes are great, I have a bunch of sperrys, there designed to get wet and to be durable. so there dreat even if it rains. whatever shoes you wear you should get some nice soles, really cheap at walmart, don't get the cheapest pair but the one up from that are great. I've gone running with the US Marines and half the guys were wearing boat shoes with soles. If marines wear them I would think they would work at Bonnaroo.
Here's another vote for sanuks. I own 4 pair and love all of them. They are all different styles of sidewalk surfers. I like my carpe dms, but my favorite are my chibas. I have worn sanuks pretty much exclusively on my feet for close to 4 years now. I've done multiple festivals in nothing but sanuks.
As far as holding up in the rain, anyone who was at NFF last year can attest!!

I tried on a pair of Sanuks and they just didn't "feel right". I have super high arches is probably why. Vibram fivefingers are great on the grass, but pretty uncomfortable on all the rough gravel roads in the camping area. I've been using the same pair of keens that I bought in 06. They're like having clouds on your feet that have tank treads on the bottom... just break them in BEFORE Bonnaroo.
i was looking at those as well. because of the material on the inside they look comfy as hell for casual wear but i think for roo theyd get really clammy and wont have much air flow. just my observation tho, ive never tried them out. i went with overboard sunbrella sanuks and theyre perfect.
I personally don't mind open toed shoes at festivals, but I can't stand walking long distance in flippy-floppies.
Last year I bought these Keens women's Whisper sandals for Wakarusa. They held up but I found that the ankle strap stretched quite a bit and at times my heels were slipping from the back of the sandal.
This year I picked up a pair of Tevas women's Tirra leather sandals. I have been wearing them around town, and I love them so far. The adjustable straps are perfect for me, because my feet are not really the same shape or size. My feets don't sweat and they are comfortable and supportive.
good arch support, strong soles. as light weight as possible. closed toes. boots or shoes as bad weather/ night time option. no socks. able to remove easily, quick dry. period. the end.

I have an oddly-sized wide foot, 8.5 3E, and took a chance on a pair of Sanuk 9D shoes. The sole is just wide enough to not be uncomfortable, and the canvas sides have enough give for my wide feet. The length was just about right, so I'm thinking Sanuk's run a little smaller or at least shorter than advertised. This review is based on the (now defunct? got it on clearance for $25) Male Sunbrella model, which is one with a rubbery flip-flopish sole. The sneaker-type models' soles look much narrower, like Vans, which do not contain my feet comfortably.
Hopefully that info helps other rooers with wide feet.
I may decide to pick up another pair of something for Roo. Can a fellow wide-footed Rooer make a suggestion? Are Crocs comfy?
I had a tanline from wearing my Toms last year. Literally the most comfortable shoes I could have wished for.
I wore my Chucks into the Phish pit last year and still wear them with a little bit of the mud out of nostalgia.
I have a thing about being completely comfortable shoe-wise and my Toms/Chucks combo did me no wrong.
I just can't deal with the look of Sanuks :/
Oh my god, I had the Toms tanline too. Actually, I have one right now and it'll probably just get worse. My feet are two-toned.
I just started wearing my Toms again (total summer shoe) and I'm getting my line again. The fact that I had a tanline from them is proof enough how much I love them (whitest Irish girl there is).
I did see some people with Toms on last year and their big toes were hanging out -- which seriously cracked me up.
anyone wearing sanuks or similar shoes......heres what i do. they often come in even sizes (no half sizes) and sometimes they dont feel exactly right. take a straight razor and slightly cut the sides just a bit where they are snug. you can even slit the area where the small toe meets the shoe if it rubs there. this creates a shoe that is more comfortable and since they are sanuks they still look great. i dont guess you could do that with the fancier sanusk but it works with the canvas ones that are already sort of weathered looking.
i have the sanuk yoga mat flip flops. i LOVE them but i wouldnt bring them by themselves to roo because they dont have enough of a footbed in case of rain.
im bringing my canvas sanuks, keen flip flops, and teva water sandals.

My wife just came home with a pair of Tom's for me to take to roo. Never had a pair on a feet until now. They feel like a girly shoe to be honest but I'm sure it's because I'm a tennis shoe man 99% of the time. Any other guys out there wear Toms? How would these things hold up if I'm needing to walk in them all day??
I wanted to ask before I actually put them on and walk around so I have the option of returning them. Can't trust my wife's option. Anyone who can walk around in high heels is simply a different breed that me.

I have been wearing my first pair of Sanuks around a lot for the last month or two, and I'm loving them, though I am normally not much of a sandal guy. I've had a few pairs I could wear comfortably, no flip-flops, and I never go outside barefoot. I tried on a pair of Toms once, and I immediately knew there was no way I could wear them. For some reason it seems like girls/women can wear shoes like that, but for a lot of guys they are just not substantial enough. Maybe I'm totally wrong or just tried on the wrong pair, but to me Toms seem more like a cross between ballet slippers and house slippers, which means I won't buy them because I will never ever wear them.
If they work for you, great, Toms is truly a fantastic company I would love to support. Their shoes just aren't for everyone, which is true for every company, I guess. Shoes are a very personal thing. Even though we all make our recommendations (me included) and have our preferences, no one can really tell you what shoes are best for you. They'd probably hold up to Roo fine since a week's worth of walking and standing generally can't kill a shoe, but the real question is whether you'd be comfortable. If you want to try them but aren't 100% sold, just bring a back-up pair or two.

We don't have a Nordstrom's Rack where I live, but when I'm in Chicago, I'll pop in while shopping and check out their shoes. I saw a bunch of Sanuks for $29.99 when I was there in April.
Bookmarking this thread has made me reeeally tempted to buy shoes off of 6pm.com which often has great deals and often better than Amazon. Someone told me that a women's size 8 is equivalent to a youth/big kids size 6...and you can save money that way. SO tempted to try this. My real main concern is to get the right size to begin with...I feel like it could be a hassle to figure out where the shoe is in store to try the sizing out and then buy online, but I do love a good deal... (i'm horrible at returning/exchanging things in time) I'm running out of time if I want to do this. I leave for TN in a month!

Just got a new pair of Sanuks in the mail from Amazon yesterday. I got the Vagabond Yogi Loafer. Very comfortable and the new beer coozie soles are very nice.

This is actually a good idea, Ellie! I sometimes will go into the children's dept and get a size 5 (I wear about a 6-6.5 in women's). Likely going to try this if I decide to order a pair of Tom's before TN
i tried on some sanuks at the mall to get an idea of what size i am because the first pair i bought were definitely too big. the problem is finding the same style that you want because they definitely vary a bit in size. ive found sanuks in general run a bit bigger than most others so i went an entire size down from my usual and they fit great.
