Wasn't she the reason he quit smoking? I thought I read that he gave up smoking after working with her, because he was embarassed about how limited his voice was compared to hers.
ha. you're doomed from the start if you're comparing your voice to loretta. especially if you're Jack White (no offense, love the guy, but technically not a great singer.)
I know he was intimidated by her which is hard to believe. His guitar still smokes. I am holding out for a white stripes or racounteurs set. Not critical but it would be fun

i would love to see the racounteurs there, they opened for dylan for a few shows at the end of last eyar (not that far in the past, last year ended in dec)

well i wont go into asking how the hell anyone could dislike john butler. but i will ask where the leak is. i cant find it anywhere and would be very happy if i could find it.
Just a heads up on Tom Waits. Over on the Rain Dogs list, his road manager has personally said that he won't be there. He's always been good on debunking rumours for the hardcore followers on that site. As much as I wanted to see him at Bonnaroo, sadly it doesn't appear to be on the table.

what's so hard to understand about that? there was a time in my life where i liked that music, but the scene has gotten stale, and my taste has changed. luckily, bonnaroo seems to be getting less jam heavy every year. that's why i prefer it over, say, a festival like wakarusa. it's just different tastes.

All I have to say if you can rise up from being a street musician and get to the level JB(T) it says alot especially when you can pick like a crazy man on a 12 string.
11 string* I have sunrise over sea and it lists him as playing 11 string guitar. I don't know exactly what that means, but I like his playing. The songs...not as much. However, I'll probably check him out, cuz he can pick like crazy.

yeah no ones dissing john butler, and if they did i would be angry cuz he is very very talented. its cool if he's not your thing, but there's no doubting the fact that he has talent
