Mars volta please!!!! It's great to see so many people crazy about the volta...I only have two friends who are as crazy as me about them, and they live way to far away....everyone else, well they just haven't came around, and they don't understand me b/c of my obsession.
I just recently bought an album by the Omar-Rodriguez-Lopez Group feat. Damo Suzuki from iTunes(since its only been released on vinyl) called Please Heat This Eventually. And to be honest, if you like Damo Suzuki's vocals you will love this album. Its basically TMV with Damo Suzuki instead of Cedric. I love it.
I would be a very happy camper if SuperFly added TMV to the bill.
Nice avatar, karma for that.^ I honestly think that there is a very slim to no chance of TMV, now. Maybe it's just the pessimist in me, but it doesn't really seem likely this late into the year.
As my festival plans shape up for the summer I have pretty much given up hope for TMV. If they do go on a real tour I will still go to great lengths to see them. I'll just have to be content with the All Good bands (esp. Les) and SCI this summer; though I will sorely miss TMV if they don't come around.
Man, that new Omar stuff is killer.
EDIT: the clips off of myspace is to what I am refering.

Just giving everyone with IFC a heads up.
They will be airing a special performance by TMV on the Henry Rollins show this Friday. As we all know, they very rarely do any kind of live televised performances, so this should be pretty special. It was recorded late last year, so they have Blake on drums.
And for all of you who either don't get IFC or don't feel like staying home to catch it, here's the link to the performance.
Btw. My apologies to whoever said Paul plays guitar occasionally. He does in this video, and it's the first time I've ever seen it. Step right up and get some karma.
The performance tears some sh*t up. Nothing beats SBD Pro-Shot Volta baby.
Ohh yeah. GIVE ME SOME MARS VOLTA SUPERFLY!!!!!!!!
I was born in the back seat of a Yellow Cab in a hospital loading zone and with the meter still running. I emerged needing a shave and shouted 'Time Square, and step on it!

Yes that is a particularly nice performance, can't wait to see how Viscera Eyes comes out. I hope they don't cut it to hell and back.
I hear ya. Let us not forget the L'via radio edit disaster. I could never stand listening to it. To cut down a TMV song (No matter how unbearably long) is to sin.

Thanks for the link. We'll be out of town Friday, so we may not be able to catch the show. Are you sure that this is the performance that is going to be on the show? TMV's website says that the clip on Rollins' show is 13 minutes long but, this version of "Tetragrammaton" is over 16 minutes long. During the clip a message keeps popping up, saying people can catch 'another' performance by Volta on the 27th. Am I just over-analyzing this?

Thanks for the heads up. I love that these guys feel the need to pump out so much music. They are constantly releasing new material. I don't think many artists other than Ryan Adams churn out anywhere near as much.
God.... just listened to it, I think it's my favourite of all his solo stuff, and I'm including "Please Heat This Eventually," which I loved. This is simply awesome, yet another great release from a fav this year...
on another note: Listening to something like "Acrobatic Tenement" and then "Se Dice Bisonte" is like night and day. I'm so glad that these are evolving musicians, also, not standing in the same place too long. Thus not allowing their music to get stale. Great, great group of artists.

Hey! You know what would be great? If The Mars Volta were added to the line up! I haven't heard the new Omar disc yet but, from the way you guys are talking it up, I can't wait to get my hands on a copy!
Had the disc downloaded a few days ago, but haven't really had the chance to listen to it until today, and man am I impressed. How I would love to see these songs live! =)

They've been doing Rapid Fire Tollbooth for a few months now. Sounds much better live. Word is that Omar wants to rework it into a TMV song.
The last track on this disc could put a hole in a steel wall. Feels like its got a little ATDI in it.
and this thread will never die. When they're announcing Roo '08 this thread will still be on page 1.

I'll let everyone in on some inside information. Blake Flemming is really a Chupacabra that Omar and Cedric found eating goat intestines out of dumpster in El Paso.
