tonights show in columbus CANCELLED due to illness.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I am pretty pissed, and their schedule is tight for a while. Hopefully they make it up between the irving and hamburg show and not at the end of the tour.

It appears the Columbus show won't be rescheduled until they come back from overseas in May. I drove the 7 hours from Nashville to Columbus only to be met by a piece of paper on the door that said the show is postponed. Even if I just got my money back from Ticketmaster, it won't even be enough to reimburse me for the gas money I spent, let alone the hotel room.
I just wish they would realize that Nashville is a good place to play. And no, Bonnaroo doesn't count as Nashville. They have never played here. I've traveled every time I've seen them.
I'll be driving back up to Columbus for the rescheduled date, whenever it is, but that doesn't give me back my wasted weekend. Why must I love this band only to be constantly heartbroken?
My negative rant is over. I guess now I can look forward to Ween in Altanta next week.
Best case scenario......The Mars Volta play Nashville on the Wednesday before Bonnaroo, then play the Roo. Come on! Do it! Haha.
Mars Volta played on MTV Live on MTV Canada tonight. Some very kind people at the Comatorium uploaded video of their performance of Wax Simulacra and Goliath. The Goliath performance was 100000000000000000X better than the one I saw at NYE. Here is the thread.

I know I'm late, but I just watched the Letterman performance on YouTube... man, that was bad! At least the sound was. I couldn't tell if it was purposeful or not-- the mic Cedric was using looked odd, and it made me think it was an artistic choice to make his voice muffled and echoey. But the whole band sounded bad, like the engineers weren't prepared for the band to be that loud, or something. The redeeming part was of course Thomas. I can't believe that kid is younger than me and can play 100x better than me. Bonnagod, please deliver The Mars Volta unto us.
Goliath on MTV Live Canada was fantastic. There was so much energy from everyone. Cedric was a madman, Ikey throwing in some great keys. Slowed down and jammed a bit, was really great. Can't even begin to say how much I want to see them on the farm, latenight for an epic show.

See Cedric fall on the floor into the crowd during Goliath? Haha, well that was kind of my fault. I didn't actually plan to get close, but ended up moving up to see Thomas and ended up in front of Omar. Cedric dives at me, and I'm not one to try to interfear with a performance, so without thinking I kind of step back and Cedric basically falls on me, almost seemed like he crawled down me and crawled onto the floor. Anyways, the guy was seriously scary - and posessed.
Oh and ya, Mars rocked Toronto on Monday with their set. I hope they play Roo - I hope they play a larger tour when they come back from Europe - I can't wait to see them live again.
Awesome man. Cool to hear one inforooer was at that viewing.
Word I hear is that the Columbus date is rescheduled for May, when in May I don't know, but that might be a tip off that they will be back in America for the summer maybe?
Just remember that the dates in America right now are just their club tour.

Im sorry everybody....but until i became a inforoo member i never heard of the mars volta...well everyone was talking about them, so i went out and bought the new cd, to be perfectly honest i couldnt get through the first ear crunching head pounding song..maybe i need to listen to it again or maybe some of their older stuff idk.. if they are there, i will not see them...but it will not bother me..especialy since you will all enjoy Peace
^^^^^^^If you wanted to give them another try, I'd recommend De-Loused in the Comatorium, I think most people would agree it's probably their most approachable work to date.

I personally think Bedlam is their best album, so good. I think people take the diehard fans as a sign that this band should be liked and they're missing out on something, when thats not it. This is a definitely a niche band. Its also probably more appealing to people who listen to heavier music. If you liked Clutch more than WSP last year, theres a greater chance you'll like TMV. ;D

ding ding ding....winner.
TMV = not for everybody.
Yea TMV isn't for everyone. The Mars Volta is probably the only band I know of that is an aquired taste. If you don't like it, then its no bother to me, I understand it. The length of this thread is not evident of the fanbase on Inforoo. There about 15-20 of us hardcore fans that post a shiat-ton to make it seem so.
However this small group of hardcore fans want TMV at Bonnaroo so farking bad.
Ticketmaster has more information on the Mars Volta tour later this year. Hopefully in a couple of weeks we will get tour dates. So far they have released a list of cities in the US that The Mars Volta will be performing at. Columbus is not listed, but they probably will still play there in May since they cancelled earlier this month. Also if you buy the new album on iTunes between now and Feb. 4, you will get a password for the pre-sale of these dates.
The Mars Volta tour is expected to stop in the following cities: Atlanta, GA Boston, MA Chicago, IL Cleveland, OH Dallas, TX Denver, CO Los Angeles, CA Miami, FL New York, NY Orlando, FL San Francisco, CA Seattle, WA Washington, D.C.
EDIT
Also, if any of you buys the album on iTunes and gets the password, please be nice and share. Some of us don't have iTunes.
