ditto i didn't want to drive to baltimore from Norfolk, VA... and i'm glad i didn't because he lost his voice and cancelled the next night in columbus... i'll be happy to see them in DC...
It only seems right, given the location, to have them stop in Tennessee. That's the only other south eastern state that I'd think could get them. Call it a hunch.
It's official: my favorite song on the new album is "Agadez." The movements are incredible, short but to the point, and this is quite honestly the best I've ever heard Cedric's vocals sound. To be honest, I used to hate his vocals, and still think that sometimes he can be a bit overbearing with the falsetto. What really hooks me about his vocals on this, is that it seems he's learned how to do it properly... like a classically trained singer. This one song raises my opinion of him as a singer from "very good" to "one of the best I've ever heard." The rest of the band is tight as hell on this song, too. "Through the blisters of confinement!"
BTW: Has anyone heard their "Candy and A Currant Bun" cover? It rivals their "Interstellar Overdrive" and At The Drive In's "Take Up Thy Stethoscope And Walk." They should just do a special set sometime, of Barret era Floyd covers... I'd cry.

You inspired me to go look for the B-sides. I'm currently listening to it now.

My buddy and I were flying high the other night and decided to create a Volta at Roo Facebook group. If anyone else has sold out like us and has facebook please feel free to join. kctcs.facebook.com/group.php?gid=8616927098
And I think Agadez reminds me of Mike Patton a lot

VOLTA VOLTA VOLTA VOLTA! Damnit man why do they have t keep putting out albums that I can't stop listening to. I need time to listen to other cd's but they leave me nothing. I was very late in getting Se Dice Bisonte and was loving it thoroughly and then The Bedlam In Goliath gets dropped on me like fat boy on Hiroshima, really messed my world up. I hoping by listenong to both at once maybe I can evolve some new ability to be able to listenin to every Volta album at once.

You need to check out "Calibration" and "Apocalypse Inside an Orange" if you liked "Se Dice," they both came out late 07. Great, great records.
Also this thread talks about Omar releasing 8 more, yes 8 MORE albums this year. I think it includes Calibration which comes out tomorrow, I'm not sure since it came out in Japan in December.
But yea expect 8 more solo albums this year from Omar.
Nice find... when I have another to throw at you, i will... that's awesome.
So, since a good bit of the solo stuff he released in 07 was from 05 sessions, does this mean that he'll be in the studio for even more albums this year? Or is he still gonna be releasing his stuff he did in Amsterdam?
Either way, I couldn't be happier. Hell, maybe we could even get a US club tour of Omar solo, or the Quintet... that'd be the best f'n thing possible.
I think he might still have some albums left from the 05 sessions and probably will record more this year and possibly have some albums done right now.
I forget if I did post it in here, but Omar is already in production for the next two Mars Volta albums already. So 2008 will be a good year for Mars Volta fans indeed.
Oh and when I can, Karma for the Omar solo tour idea. I would farking love to see an Omar solo show.

There's a great five star review of TBIG in the new issue of Alternative Press, its no where to be found online yet, so check it out if you happen to be near a bookstore. I would type it out, but I am hella lazy.
A couple of quotes:
"....revel in the majesty that is The Bedlam In Goliath..." "Cedric and Omar have created a masterpiece that is a true follow-up to Deloused." "....new drummer Thomas Pridgen is positively relentless..." "The Mars Volta have created the first great record of 2008."
side note: while I usually dont care much for Alternative Press anymore, I've had this subscription for like 8 years, and they do throw a good read out there everyonce in a while.
