all i have to say is that the only that would devistate my roo is if mmj and tmv had dueling shows...i would die.
that would be a tough one. i listen to tmv way more than mmj, but i have also seen tmv 4 times and mmj only half a show, so i might choose them. but then again, to avoid that mess that was the which stage last year, i may choose tmv in the tent. who knows? hell, at this point i'm not even going this year and i'm still thinking about how hard a decision that would be.
I can easily say that I'd see TMV over MMJ... MMJ tour rather constantly and TMV would just seem like more of a special thing for me..
What I'm worried about, schedule wise, is, if TMV is added, it were against Levon Helm, ABB, or Sigur Ros. That would devastate me, and it seems possible, especially Sigur Ros.

This thread will be bumped until the day The Mars Volta are added to the Bonnaroo bill. Even then we will continue to bump this glorious thread because we are that crazy for this farking awesome band.
will you be seeing them at the tabernacle?
Yes I will, will you be seeing them at the Tabernacle as well?

I would be the same. I will be seeing ABB and Levon Helm at Wanee this year, so missing them two won't be that bad, but Superfly better not make me choose between Sigur Ros and The Mars Volta.
I tried to get tickets to the Tabernacle show, but had no luck... just have to go to the Myrtle Beach show.
House of Blues isn't a bad venue... Saw AIC there in 06, great audience. It was a tight fit inside the club, but I doubt TMV would draw as many people as AIC did.

tabernacle holds 3000 and it will be sold out(i think it was 3 years ago), hob 1200, so it should definitely be soldout as well. you will packed like sardines for that shit, but it will be fun.
I have heard that The Tabernacle was made perfectly for The Mars Volta.
tabernacle is made perfectly for everyone. every show i have seen there has been awesome. there is just something about the place. might also have something to do with the bands i have seen there:tool, tmv, primus, muse, coheed (with dredg opening), deftones, audioslave, mute math, damien rice, there may be 1 more but that's all i can think of right now.
"Larks' Tongues in Aspic II" "One More Red Nightmare" "Fracture"
would all be killer, I think.
I'm not quite sure how it would be though... but they pull off a decent Soft Machine cover and good Siouxie and the Banshees cover, so anything's possible.
I have always thought that, compositionally speaking, they are incredibly similar. They just don't have similar sounds.

There are some moments on Bedlam that are very Crimson-y. Kind of like the Starless and Bible Black or Red kind of Crimson, though. Not the really early stuff.
About to watch a bootleg dvd of an Omar Rodriguez performance in Tokyo... awesome stuff.
Omar and the Quintet should seriously go on a tour in the states. I said this a looooong time ago in this thread, but I believe the Quintet would be an even cooler show for Roo than TMV.
Give us The Mars Volta, Roo.... We know, You know, everyone knows... you want to.

I agree mothersky, and I have even gotten to the point that an Omar Quintet show would be a suitable replacement for TMV. But with all the members of TMV that play with him on the solo stuff, I guess that would make it that much more painful. Hehe. But I would love to see him do some solo touring through the US.
Have you heard the new Omar CD Calibration? They said they won't release the vinyl until the cd has sold a certain amount of copies. This displeases me so. I don't buy the Omar stuff on cd, Vinyl only. I feel the glaring omission calling me every time I look through my records lately.
And that's not even to mention The Bedlam in Goliath vinyl. Where the hell is it? Haha.
Callibration, Apocalypse, Se Dice, the yellow record, Manual Dexterity... all awesome full albums by him.
My favorite solo record of his has to be Se Dice, just an incredibly well rounded album. Callibration is fantastic also, and the yellow album is like listening to Mahivishnu in our current day.
Yeah, I'm also dying for the Bedlam vinyl... even my trusty record shops have nothing for me.
EDIT:
"El Bufalo De La Noche" is now available on "certain websites," this is a film with all the music done by The Mars Volta.
