i had a bonnaroo dream a couple nights ago...the only thing i could remember about it when i woke up was that they were building stuff that would permanently be there like some buildings and stages and stuff like that...i'm hoping i have another bonnaroo dream again soon because i think that was my first one...
Headliners ( any one of the following ) : The Boss and the E- Strt Band Prince Stevie Wonder Beastie Boys Rage Tool ( again ) DAFT PUNK ( PLEASE- or late night) Wille Nelson Radiohead Zepp or Floyd Jay Z
Definite day/ late night: ARCADE FIRE RAILROAD EARTH HACKENSAW BOYS ROD Y GAB GOVT MULE ROBERT RANDOLPH WHITE STRIPES RILO KILEY TEGAN AND SARAH BLACK CROWS BEN HARPER MODEST MOUSE THE SHINS GALACTIC ARCTIC MONKEYS THE ROOTS just to name a few....PLEASE...
There's not a thing worth remembering When tomorrow can bring someone new Get used to the thought You can't be what you're not Life has already got plans for you
i mean seriously, those 3 could be it...its diverse...classic rocker, alternative icon, jamband favorite...
springsteen - never seen him, i like his music, i consider him someone i'd like to see before i die, i feel there's only a handful of classic rock artists left i want to see, new album with the e street band, makes sense to me
radiohead - would having only a year off from bonnaroo be too quick of a return? not in my mind, look at how often panic has headlined, among the many others who've played years back to back, radiohead WILL BE headlining an american festival next year, but i think they could get other offers next year too-coachella, lolla, maybe acl
trey anastasio and friends - trey would be a good sunday headliner, because of the fans of the jamband scene, because a lot of people leave early sunday, a good portion of the people at bonnaroo have seen trey play, and you get that option with him, you either leave or stay, or do whatever, i'd like to see him, i've seen him a few times, i don't have to see him, he would be a good closer, but if trey's involved i'd rather see phish close out bonnaroo
...but i still the think the best way to close out bonnaroo is if roger waters or led zeppelin headlined sunday night
Thanks a lot brokenlight. Whenever I make predicitions on here, I try not only to put wishlists up but also things that could be realistic. For instance, I'm a huge Tom Waits fan, and would love to see him, but I think he's more of a niche market kind of artist and don't know if he could headline.
I think last year's headliners were a little weak for Bonnaroo. I'm not debating performance here; I'm just saying that the level was nothing compared to Petty, Phil Lesh, Oysterhead, Gordon/Trey, and of course Radiohead in 2006.
I think they need to come back with something huge, and having the likes of Springsteen and the E Street Band on Friday, Radiohead again on Saturday, and Trey and Friends on Sunday would fit that. Throw in Arcade Fire opening on either Friday or Saturday, a late night return of My Morning Jacket, and maybe a late night hip hop extravaganza with A Tribe Called Quest or Wu-Tang, and you have maybe the biggest Bonnaroo in history, and yet another statement from Bonnaroo that they are the biggest and best festival in the world. Just my thoughts...
Actually, as a side note, I think two of the best headliners would be Bowie or a reunited Talking Heads, though for some reason I don't see either of those happening...

i can't thank you guys enough for the comments i've received recently on my input...bonnaroo is seriously something i think of every single day...its been this way since the lineup got announced in 05...05 was my first roo, although i do remember hearing about the very first one, i just never pictured myself actually attending something like this...i am 26 years old, but i got a late start compared to some people in going to shows and festivals...for me, bonnaroo is like heaven on earth...my life pretty much revolves around music...i live and breath it...i have even taught myself how to play guitar and piano and read music, but i'm sure many of you have done the same...there's this joy i get when the lineup gets announced...as soon as it happens i start checking out the bands i don't know...and the ones i do know, i listen to what i have of them...bonnaroo and other festivals, have introduced me to some many different types of bands...and i'm fans of pretty much all of them...i have been to the roo twice, and ACL once, not to mention i attend shows on a weekly basis, mostly local bands, which has depleted my bank account, but i feel that it has been worth it, while people i know, think i'm crazy...i don't know what i'm really trying to say here but i just want to keep writing...the band that i have seen the most live is DMB...22 shows...i have been going to there shows for 10 years, and yeah, i'm finally getting a little burnt out, but i still love them...the grateful dead are one of my favorite bands of all time...when bonnaroo so-called "changed" from 05-06, at first i was a little upset...but then i became a fan of bands like bright eyes, wilco, panic, string cheese, galactic, m. ward, the hold steady, talking heads, decemberists, rodrigo y gabriela, tom waits, ornette coleman, elvis costello, moe, the slip, cold war kids, white stripes, the nightwatchman, the roots, david bromberg, old crow med show, ollabelle, ryan adams, the shins, peter bjorn and john, the whigs, jonah smith, john paul white, heartless bastards, the gourds...the list could go on forever...and all those bands may not have played roo, they may have played other festivals, or they might be up on archive.org, or anywhere for that matter on the internet...i guess what i'm trying to say is that the bands that play each year become important to me and well to be honest, i don't know what the fuck i'm trying to say...i'm just rambling but i feel i have a point to get out...the people that run these festivals know what they're doing...they bring it every year...some, not all, but most are some of the best live bands out there...each festival year you will find yourself with new favorites and your music tastes change a little...and thats okay if i used to be into just jambands...apparently it went "indie" but i'm cool with that...i love whatever "indie" music is...i know what it means, and that its not really a scene, although the world today thinks of it as a music genre, but whatever...my point is that bonnaroo is the best of the best not just because of the amazing live shows by the incredibly diverse lineups...but the people also...and all the things bonnaroo has to offer...i don't think i'll ever get to see and do everything at roo unless they extend it to a week long, maybe two...the people that go to bonnaroo, in my mind, have wonderful taste in music, and i'm sure the people at ACL and lolla do also, but i guess the music really is about the fans...and i guess that while the full lineup may not be my entire wishlist every year, they are bands from my wishlist that make it every year...i think warren haynes said in one of the bonnaroo dvd's that we, the fans, go out of our way to find great music, and thats exactly what bonnaroo has to offer...and thats exactly what it has given me, or given all of us...all 80,000 that attend every year...thats why i consider it heaven on earth...because when i die, should i go to heaven, i want it to be like bonnaroo...of course it probably won't be...but in closing, i just want to thank everyone for continuing to make bonnaroo and these festivals such a success...not just the people that run the festival but you guys...the fans...i mean, remember what a tragedy woodstock 99 was...that wasn't even 10 years ago...thats one of the reasons i was so if-y on attending bonnaroo in the first place...10-20 years ago having a large music festival like this year in and year out would've seemed impossible...so once again thank you everyone for continuing to make bonnaroo what it is...and i'll see some of you next june...
that was a bit of a ramble - heh - but i agree with it. im not sure why / how i became bonnaroo obsessed, but i guess i am. just yesterday, i thought "how awesome would it be to own one of those houses right next to roo!!!" (granted, if your not a music fan, and not willing to accept a few spun hippies on your lawn, it would probably suck).

yeah, all my posts are like that...i guess when i'm writing them i just don't realize how hard it is to read...until i go back and read it after its posted...then my eyes hurt...whenever i'm writing anything, i have a tendecy to write like this, i always write in lower case letters...if i took my high school english class again now, i would fail...i'll try to getter better with my grammar and stuff...this will be the last post written like this...

Friday - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band (with that guy and girl from Arcade Fire making an appearance)
Saturday - Radiohead or Pearl Jam
Sunday - Phil Lesh and Friends (with either Jackie Greene and/or Ryan Adams and Trey Anastasio, among others)
...and if these come true, I'd like to see Arcade Fire latenight on the Which Stage, Jackie Greene play a show with his band, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, and Trey, possibly latenight on the Which Stage.
If we get Springsteen, maybe Tom Waits could play before him. Maybe Tom Waits could make an appearance with him on "Jersey Girl" or something.
If we get Radiohead, well, I'm not too sure who would play before them. Last time it was Beck, I'd love to see Oasis play before Radiohead. Definitely some type of "European" or "foreign" band. Blur or David Gray would also be good in this spot.
If we get Pearl Jam, maybe Ben Harper fills the same time slot as this past year. Remember Lolla this past year, Eddie joining Ben for a song, and Ben played with Pearl Jam. Maybe My Morning Jacket could also play, possibly the second slot that day.
If we get Phil and Friends, maybe Allman Brothers Band before them, and maybe Ryan Adams before ABB. Ryan Adams would be such a great Sunday show, mellow and relaxing like Wilco this past year. ABB would fit as a jamband, and of course, Phil and Friends would too.
So something like this:
Friday - ?, Tom Waits, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Saturday - ?, My Morning Jacket, Ben Harper and the IC, Pearl Jam or ?, David Gray, Oasis or Blur, Radiohead
Sunday - ?, Ryan Adams, Allman Brothers, Phil and Friends

Not only is it kind of a wishlist for me, I think it looks realistic, with maybe the exception of Tom Waits, not sure on the chances of him playing. And I just thought that maybe the Violent Femmes would be good before Radiohead or something...

i was just listening to VF on my ipod the other day - that would be an *excellent* addition to roo.
plus, gnarls barkley is putting an album out sometime soon - that would make for some awesome late night shit. say - one of the acts that ends early and allows you to catch the last hour of some marathon performance.
i know neil young just released a new studio album, not sure how he is holding up for extended live sets but i could see him being booked with pearl jam for roo

The two times I have seen Neil live have been recent (3/04 & 9/06) and both were over three hours.

first post. pearl jam is unofficially confirmed. i am part of the fan club and frequent their boards. their bassist did a guest lecture at the university of montana during which he stated they had one show booked for 2008 and that show is in fact bonnaroo.
