I'm honestly not sure how Incubus is any better or worse than Kings of Leon or Black Crowes. I'm not a huge fan of any of those bands, and my main annoyance with Incubus has to do with how they play up their "intellectuals of rock" image on MTV.
Honestly, though, I don't see Incubus fitting into Bonnaroo at this point in time. I don't really see them fitting into any of the major festivals outside of maybe Lolla. They're a successful major label band. Successful major label bands generally don't play music festivals like Bonnaroo or Coachella.
Unless a radio station or a major corporation is sponsoring it, I don't see Incubus playing a festival setting...

Hey, if Coldplay can headline coachella, than Incubus could definatly play Coachella. also Virgin Festival, Jazzfest, even Vegoose. That's why I'm leaning more towards not wanting them at Bonnaroo, because there are a lot of other fests that suit them better. However, if they were announced as playing roo 2008 I would not pitch a fit about Roo going down the "slippery slope."
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
i'd for sure hit up incubus if they played at bonnaroo. i enjoy their music and i've seen them live a few times- all great shows. i don't really get how they don't "fit" at bonnaroo though... they have lots of different material to choose from and i'm sure they'd choose appropriately. although, i wouldn't want them as a headliner. preferably after a headliner.
as for my headliners...
prince (...everyone likes to get a little funky)
CLAPTON (...would be simply amazing)
the allman brothers band (... sounds just peachy to me)
i'd also like to see some jamiroquai on the lineup. wishful thinking, i know, but they're just groo-vay.

Speaking of Eric Clapton...
What about Cream? The sets they played in London were awesome.
I know it's only a dream, but I'm a drummer and it would be SO amazing to see Ginger Baker live on stage.
Cream would be so much better than Clapton, who bored the heck out of me the one time I saw him in LA about 6 years ago... though if he did happen play Roo solo, I guess I would give him one more chance to WOW me the way I thought he was going to in 2001

Clapton bored you? weird... I saw him this past spring and was a bit worried going into it because he had cancelled previous shows on his tour due to illness. Robert Cray opened for him, blew me away. Then Clapton came out and made Cray look like an amateur. Then Cray came out with Clapton and I'm pretty sure the people next to me noticed the drool stains on my shirt as I watched in awe. Clapton, as of late, seems to love playing with extremely talented guests... I'd be very down with seeing him come to the Roo. Although, it's possible it might boost ticket prices a bit high... seeing as how I paid $100 for average seats when I saw him...

cream would be awesome. then maybe clapton would play a solo set as well. clapton and friends would be cool. i saw clapton once and it was great. it was a really mellow, laid back show, so if you're bored easily you may be. but his guitar tone is pure gold. it literally made cry. a guitar tone making someone cry. now that's brilliance.
I saw Clapton about 8 years ago. I thought it was a very good show. It didn't blow me away, but then again my expectations were pretty high. My parents went to see Cream at MSG last year and said it was phenominal, they also saw him on his last tour with Derek Trucks and though that was just as good. I'm all for Clapton, be it with Cream, Derek Trucks, a Blind Faith reunion or in just about any other form.

Maybe it was just that tour... he was still heavy on his MTV Leila accoustic type phase--- he even had Billy Preston with him who strangely enough also bored me. Possibly the worst concert I have ever been to (though both me and my brother did actually fall aleep in the middle at a Sting show back in the mid-90's--- another boring mediocre time in my wild rock and roll concert career... imagine that, sober as a bell and unintentionally sleeping in a sold out arena show)

On the Incubus discussion.... I was a really big fan about 6 years ago. I have seen them 3 times, once on the Honda Civic tour/Morning VIew era, once at Lollapalooza 2003, and I saw them again on their ACLOTM tour. Now. They were EXCELLENT the first time I saw them. They have gotten worse each time afterwards however. Nonetheless I would still love to see them again and I just might go see them in Cinci. I think they would fit right in at Bonnaroo but they DO NOT deserve a headlining spot.
Now on to my headliners. Maybe something like... Friday- OUTKAST Saturday- BOWIE Sunday- DEAD
I also think anyone of these bands could headline....Brian Wilson, CCR reunion, New Grass Revival or some type of incarnation (such as he bluegrass sessions), Paul Simon, DAFT PUNK
Also just for discussion.....how about Kanye West, NIN, or maybe even Dispatch----i hate this band.
And just for the record...
Dear Superfly, If you somehow manage to arrange a Talking Heads reunion at Bonnaroo 2008, I will buy a ticket to every festival you have from this moment forward and spend LOTS of my money there.

you have actually seen incubus on the exact 3 same tours that i did. but i disagree that they have gotten worse. the 2004 show was pretty awesome, with the drum jam and all. i am seeing them again next month.
p.s kanye west please stay the hell away from bonnaroo

Superjam should be:
Eric Clapton: Guitar Santana: Guitar Les Claypool: Bass Dude from Guster: Drums/bongos (have you actually seen/listened to that guy?! he's crazy...) Toyd Binsley: Violin. Robert Randolph: Lap Steel
this would blow my head away, and I would easily pay $200 just to see this performance alone.

haha oh my god that would be incredible. I would like to see Jeff Beck in the Superjam with Clapton, now that would be face melting.
