honestly i don't ever see cream at bonnaroo. since it really doesn't look like they'll ever do a full-scale tour again... i doubt that they'd share the bill at roo. plus- adding them to the lineup would JACK up the price of a ticket.
hey so i was thinking... someone on here said that widespread is a headliner cuz they are too big, so it's either give them a headliner spot or don't invite them at all. But here's the thing.... I saw them last night at this place the NTELOS pavilion, which is like a 11,000 person venue or so. this place wasn't even CLOSE to being full. i would say maybe 2/3rds full. Then i looked at their tour stops.... no big ampitheatres, mostly smaller ampitheatres or large clubs. Then i thought to myself, when was the last time they played a big ampitheatre around my local area, because that would have been when they were big shots.... 1998, virginia beach ampitheatre.
well, 10 years later they can't even sell about 7,000 tickets.... so i mean, why are they headlining. i've seen them a few times, there are some tasty grooves now and again. but the argument that that person made about them either being a headliner or not at all baffles me.

Widespread has been a part of Bonnaroo since year one, which was the 1st time they headlined. The band embodies the spirit of where Bonnaroo came from... Roo has come a long way since then, but asking Widespead to headline the festival again and again... it's a matter of respect

anybody have any thoughts on this?
yea,i was the one that made that comment. you just don't see a band at headlining level scaled back that often. about the only time that happens is if they break up and reunite. like smashing pumokins playing in small clubs this year. i guess it would kind of be insulting to them to ask them to play a smaller stage after all these years on the big stage.

They still sell out fairly well. I am not a big fan of theirs, but every time I go to Phillips Arena in Atlanta to go see an Arena Football game I see that banner hanging from the rafters saying:

Finally gonna take a stab here...
Friday: Radiohead (Bring em back. No one will complain.) Saturday: Roger Waters (The closest to Pink Floyd as Bonnaroo will ever get. Its time to be realistic.) Sunday: The Allman Brothers Band (Face it people, it's time. Warren and Derek need no introduction. Bring it, this would be one of the best ends to the weekend ever.)
As Bonnaroo expands it horizons, I can pretty much guess this wouldn't/won't happen. With that said, I think in the future we are gonna see some thing a little more funky or electronic as a headliner. Which in a way, disappoints me cause I love the rock, and can't imagine a headliner without a guitar. But as the saying goes: "it is what it is"
Other wishes: CSNY, Talking Heads, Mr. David Bowie, Headlining version of SuperJam (reminicant of Clapton's Crossroads Festival), The Flaming Lips, and last but not least, how about a 40th anniversary celebration of the Beatles "White Album" with an All-star list of musicians led by Paul & Ringo? ;D
Looking at what I put before, I don't think it would be that too realistic. So I will try to take another stab at headliners
Friday:Allman Brothers Band I am not sure they have headlined before, but its a no-brainer here.
Saturday:Rush There was a rumour floating around on the Rush messageboards before their tour dates were released that a music festival appearance in their 2008 leg of their tour was possible.
Sunday:Black Sabbath There is also rumor that the original line-up for Black Sabbath will reunite for 2008 and release new album. I think Black Sabbath would be one of those atypical performers at Bonnaroo. And if it could work for Tool, I think it would definetly work for Black Sabbath.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

Ozzy's voice is horrible these days, so it would kind of be a waste. Go watch their performance at Live Aid (TWENTY YEARS AGO!) and see how bad that sounds.

Have you seen them recently?
I saw them 6 years ago, 3 years ago and 2 years ago.
Those were three of the best performences Ive ever seen in my life. Ozzy, Tony, Bill and Geezer all played spot-on. They were absolutely stellar. The sound was amazing.
I completely support the idea of Black Sabbath being at Bonnaroo next year. I think they could really amaze a lot of people.

I beg to differ too... at Ozzfest in *edit 2001, not 2000* Ozzy was sick and his voice was shot, but every other time I saw him solo or with Sabbath, he was stellar, right up to last year's Ozzfest. Sabbath would be a welcome addition to Roo, they really are just a bunch of (granted hard rockin') hippy jammin' guys, I think... and Sweet Leaf would go over really well, somehow I suspect
Well I just read in Rolling Stone that Bruce Springsteen AND THE E STREET BAND are recording an album to be released pretty soon, and will do a full US Tour after. One of my headliner wishes may come true.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.
that was an amazing webcast. Ben Harper came out at the end.
Missed the webcast tonight, but it makes sense as Eddie Vedder came out for a tune with Ben and the IC during their set last night. If they are as good as you folks are making out than I say bring them on. Personally I'm not the biggest PJ fan (saw them in 1992 and wasn't blown away) but I would be happy to give them a second chance at Roo next year.
yeah, but Bonnaroo has bigger headliners than Lolla. This year Muse headlined a day too. They could never headline at Bonnaroo. Much more of a late night show, again.
And last year Ween headlined a day...and we know where they played at Bonnaroo this year.
