I'm pretty sure this is going to be the first roo in three years that I'm going to have to skip. Honestly the lineup is pretty lousy with a few good ones mixed in. I just bought my tickets for Langerado, the lineup looks way better.
ha, the langerado lineup is much worse than bonnaroo's. not saying it's bad, i mean i wanted to go... but then i saw the schedule. it's terrible. i would be so bored for most of the weekend as there is huge gaps where i wouldn't wanna see anyone.

The schedule for Langerado actually made me very, very happy. There are very few times that there isn't a band I really want to see, and the only real tough conflict for me is DSO/P-Groove. The other conflicts are all ones where I've seen one band and haven't seen the other...it pretty much lays out perfectly for me.
Hey, Jude, don't be afraid. You were made to go out and get her. The minute you let her under your skin, Then you begin to make it better.
And any time you feel the pain, Hey Jude, refrain. Don't carry the world upon your shoulders. Well don't you know that it's a fool who plays it cool By making his world a little colder.

I feel the same way. maybe not "terrible." but I went to Langerado last year, and REALLY wanted to go this year. That lineup had me at odds. I wanted it badly but the timing and the fact that it is no longer near fort lauderdale basically meant I couldn't go unless tickets fell into my lap (they didn't).
the day the bonnaroo lineup came out, I looked at the Langerado lineup and thought that Langerado had beaten Bonnaroo this year. Then they released the schedule, and I honestly think the festival looks way weaker now that it is scheduled out. There is basically no one to see until late in the afternoon every day. Thursday should have had Claypool/Skerik/Dillon ( a trio of talent that rivals any at that fest) close out and not a GD cover band.
I'm a huge Phish fan, and I think it's a huge mistake to have PHIX late night and keep Thievery in the daytime (does anyone really need to see Phix at Big Cypress??) Sunday has almost nothing to see up until the very end.
I realize I sound like I am hating for not going, and I'm SURE it will be an amazing time. But I think back to last year, and how beautifully that schedule was laid out, with bands to see from Noon until festival close. I just am not seeing that this year.

I actually LIKE the fact that there are some gaps in the lineup. gives me some chill time and some exploring time, so what bugs you, makes me happy...
yea, definitely. Ultimately, I need to make excuses in my head as to why I'm not going, b/c as I said, I really wanted to go (and still do). But it's not in the cards.
Anything I'm spewing is probably just sour grapes.

It seems like they've put a lot of the lesser known bands in the daytime slots, which I actually think is cool because either you know of a band playing and wanna see them, or you've never heard of any of them and it gives you a chance to find new music. Sure I don't know exactly who I'm gonna see all day, but just because I haven't heard of any bands playing doesn't mean I'll be bored around my campsite, rather I'll be discovering new music... something that always makes me happy!

If you run out of things to do at a festie... no matter what festie in the world... you're doing something wrong
Not true. I could easily get bored at Ozzfest or the Warped Tour or any number of hard-rock based European fests (a la Download).
hmmm.... touché perhaps I should reword... any music festival, not metal/hard rock only festival. Maybe.

(and yah some of the conflicts do suck )
I'd have to agree with Gougeaway and oshoney,
I was planning on trying to make Langerado, but being tight on money made me decided to solely concentrate on Wanee and I am glad I made that choice. The schedule thins out the line-up immensely.
On Thursday I would have nothing to see until DSO and Friday nothing until The Wailers. However if you stayed at the Swamp Stage all day Saturday and the Everglade Stage all day Sunday, you would have a killer time. But I cannot justify spending 180 dollars or more on essentially two days of music.
So basically its going to be Wanee and possibly Bonnaroo this year for me.

Listening to a lot of the new artists at the bottom of the list right now, and I tell you what, this is going to be an amazing Bonnaroo from top to bottom this year. I love getting to listen and download new music and Donavan Frackenmeiter, The Felice Brothers, Black Kids, and Jose Gonzalez are all rocking my face off right now. Thank you roo!
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
I'm counting 24 plus the comedy tent looks pretty cool. I am so torn between going to Bonnaroo and AllGood or AllGood and 10,000 Lakes. Guess just depends on the 'Roo schedule and the other two;s lineups.

Why are the eels not playing bonnaroo. they are touring and were not picked up. thats redic. They need another headliner. Zep or genesis or u2 or ringo and paul. but please something. im going neways because its tradition but i would love to see better.
I didn't know where to post this because all the threads I frequent have mentioned something or the other about U2, and I know this thread mentions Kanye.
I read the article from U2's producer on pollstar this morning. That man is a horrid wretch. If U2 feels the same as he, I'd just as soon never hear their name uttered in another conversation. That's why U2 doesn't belong at Bonnaroo and for the same reason Metallica doesn't belong.
On another note I saw Kanye last night on the Grammy's. He's smug, and an asshole, and not really that good. But the light show was cool. Still don't see him being a Bonnaroo type. Vince Gill's comment was CLASSIC! I know the festival tries to incorporate all kinds of music, and I guess I don't have a problem with it. If I HAD decided to go, I would have gone and I'm sure had a great time, but the lineup just didn't interest me this year. Like someone said earlier, I guess it's just not my year. I'll be back next year perhaps.
