thursday - (minors) Badly Drawn Boy, Black Mountain, Danielson friday - David Gilmour (minors) Band of Horses, Dredg, Ghinzu saturday - Coldplay (minors) Muse, Placebo, Modest Mouse sunday - the allman brothers band (minors) Built to Spill, The Eels, Conor Oberst
Zeppelin and The Who have the same touring managment. They didnt back in the day (kit lambert and peter grant). When jimmy Page was with the black crowes The Who would play the night before or the night after. How amazing would that be to have these two giants in rock history playing back to back nights at bonnaroo. However, this would leave out Rage beause you need a band for sunday where people are willing to leave early.
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Here's some lineup ideas I'd be happy with that I think are possible and interchangeable
Friday: NIN or Incubus or Foo Fighters Sat: MUSE leading into Bowie or Led Zep or Radiohead Sat Late night (kanye slot): Flaming Lips or Jay-Z Late Night Which Stage: Ghostland Observatory (though Flips & GO shouldn't be on at the same time, imo ) Sunday: MMJ or DMB
I like the idea of NIN & BOWIE, though I haven't heard any word on Bowie touring so I'm not sure how realistic it could be. ARCADE FIRE would then be a great addition (not as a headliner necessarily)- I'm hoping they're on the lineup either way.
Still wondering: FOO FIGHTERS & LED ZEPPELIN...
I think MUSE would be a great addition - Friday night? are they big enough in the US for a headline spot? Maybe a late night spot or opening like Beck leading to Radiohead in 06
Other possiblities MMJ, THE FLAMING LIPS FLIPS (could also work for late night What Stage) INCUBUS (looks like they'll be touring into '09) BEASTIE BOYS, DMB, JAY-Z (a big "meh" ), PHISH (possilbe but I'm thinking they'd be more likely to do their own thing on the Manchester grounds)& RHCP (would rather not have them, but I think it's possible)
I'd like to see MGMT back in bigger spot, but I don't see them as a headliner
And I would always, always be thrilled to see RADIOHEAD again ;D
Maybe it's too early to bring the White Stripes back but they are supposedly getting back into the studio in the near future and I think they could headline Friday night.
It doesn't mean a whole lot, but Big Hassle, the same company that does publicity for Bonnaroo and several acts who play Bonnaroo, are doing publicity for Weezer's new album. In the past, this hasn't really mattered much outside of the smaller end acts who play Roo and didn't have publicity beforehand, but it's worth keeping an eye on.
