To me the South Carolina win is a much bigger blemish on Florida's resume than the Tennessee game. UT is a very good team, but needing 3 blocked kicks to beat an average SC team at home is questionable.
oh well there is nothing we can do now but sit back and watch the big ten finish 1/2 in a slaughterous fashion and maybe that will shut everyone up about how greaat the sec is.
i think after they slaughter florida and usc that osu and uofm should meet up on a highschool field and play the most intense scrimmage we have ever seen just to find out who the best team in the country is for real.

Outside of the top 3 teams, the Big 10 sucked. Bad.
can you honestly say that it is mor difficult to play so. miss, central florida, kentucky and w carolina over playing a bigten schedule. wisconsin, msu, indiana, minnesota, penn state, north western. all of those teams can jump up and surprise a top rate team. i dont see w carolina or kentucky being cappable of beating a top team on their best day.
S. Miss, Central Florida and W. Carolina aren't SEC teams. Of course playing those teams is easier than playing a Big 10 schedule.

umm.. didnt they play already? better luck next year :)
"fortunately for me, it was not the SEC that got screwed this year."

i agree with that. and vanderbilt was another low point that was never met by michigan. shit vandy only ad 1 win. but almost made it 2 against florida
florida has looked pretty sloppy at times (from what ive seen) but still they have the players to make blowing them out very difficult or impossible and they seem to find ways to win. for them to have any chance at all i think their d will need to score a few, which is admitidly a posibility, even against us. i wonder how our spread will fare against the speed they have in the backfield (so i hear). Im guessing we'll find a way to score as always but still, id love a blowout but they definitly need to be taken seriously. they have every right to play in this game.
usc vs. ichigan however should be a blowout, and i hope it is.
The whole Big Ten vs. SEC as who is the tougher conference is almost impossible to be able to argue. Most of the real out of conference SEC games are against ACC teams due to local rivalries (and the SEC owned the ACC this year). I know that UT beat the crap out of Cal, but USC beat the crap out of Arkansas (both being at the begining of the seasons with each team that got demolished having a big time player being injured or out.) and neither of those teams are big 10 obviously. It would be nice to have more SEC/Big 10 OOC games during the season but it never happens.
We do have alot of bowl tie-ins, but bowls are not really a good measure of a team, unless it is the MNC game. However, with all that being said, I don't think dudewheresmyroo can really say that the Big Ten is that much more physical of a conference than the SEC. Both leagues have lots of representation in the NFL (and not just at skill positions) and both leagues are usually up at the top of the rankings in recruiting with FSU, USC, Miami, Texas thrown in. So going into college and coming out of college I think that both leagues have plenty of talent. Its not like we are only playing with finesse down here. Either which way, the SEC is definitely a deeper conference, with 9 bowl teams against the 7 of the Big Ten.

As for the "huge layoff before the bowl games", Dude, it's called finals. Remember, these kids are supposed to be going to college to learn. Football is just an extracurricular activity....
you cant be serious. you keep telling your self that. thats why ohio state has their star players taking credits for aids awareness and golf in the summer so they can play. its all about the learning.
the discussion shoule not be about who ahd thier chance. florida had their chance to go undefeated but lost to a second rate team and almost lost to a second rate tennessee. the discussion should be about who are the 2 best/most talented teams in the country. and almost everyone agrees that michigan is the 2nd best team in the country but they "had their chance" they arent there to decide who has had chances or not. the fact is they all hads a chance to go undefeated. florida didnt. michigna didnt. lokk at the teams they lost to and look ato the scores of the big teams that were played. michigan destoryed number 2 notre dame and florida almost loses to tennesee. michigan loses by 3 to the best team in the country and florida loses to a team that isnt even close.
And Michigan almost lost to Ball State. So there goes that argument.

You wana talk about getting screwed talk about Wisconsin. They were ranked ahead of four teams playing in a bcs bowl game, but since one conference isnt allowed to have more than two teams in a bcs bowl they got shafted to the Capital One Bowl. I think the directors of the Big Ten need to get their acts together, because they're looking like idiots this year.
Go look at Wisconsin's schedule and ask yourself "who wouldn't go 11-1"?

Almost lost isn't very accurate. They were up by 19 points and brought their 2nd and 3rd string defense in. Gave up two long td passes then brought the 1st team back in and held on to an 8 point lead. They were trying to sneak in a 1/2 game rest before the OSU game and got burnt. If you watched the game it was clear that Michigan would have won easily if they poured it on.
That game, along with @penn St were the only two UM victories with a margin of victory under two touchdowns.
If we're going to talk about bad wins, how about needing 3 blocked kicks to win by 1 at home?

The whole BCS package is a crock, as someone has already pointed out, it's all about the bucks and quality football isn't what counts. I just watched most of the 1AA playoffs (where the games actually mean something) and it was great because any of the teams had a shot at the title. When the ASU Mountaineers won no one bitched because everyone had their chance too.

They are each team's closest victory. That's the comparison.
If you really think Michigan's game against Ball St. comes close to showing the true measure of the team you either didn't watch the game or have no common sense. I'm sure the former is the case.
dude he is saying that michigan didnt almost lose. they blew them oput and then took all of their players out and let some poeple who get no play time into the game. not a hard fought lucky ass 1 point victory at home that should ave beeen a loss. it seems like a pretty simple, common sense thing to see. but some people dont watch the games. they just look at stats and throw out their comments. based on whatever the espn results page says. or what their local idiot radio host has to say. oh well im probably the same wa wit michigan... but this one is obvious. the bucks are 4 times the team florida is. they are on a whole other level. only michigan is up on that level with them this year. michigan got screwed and the bucks got the easy out. florida will get destroyed. it will be embarrassing. i hate the bucks but thats a no brainer. florida is a 2nd rate team. as is usc. michigan should win easily too. althoguh they have a much tougher battle then the bucks do with florida.. what a joke to have florida in the championship. all i can say is the bucks got lucky. i wont consider it a true championship. just one that was handed to them withouth having to play the tough game.
all i can do now is hope that the bucks dont grab the basketball title too. which is a possibilty. atleast with the way the ncaas are set up in b-ball the best team actually wins. if they win that they will have to earn it. at a nuetral site. the bucks essentially played the championship game at home this year. and still almost lost.

michigan cant catch a break. before the bcs they had to share it with a team not half as good as they are. now we get a system where the 2 best teams play so we avoid title sharing and they get screwed out of that too. i guess everyones tired of watching the winningest team in history beat up on everyone.
If the tables were turned you would have nothing to say. What a typical Michigan fan.....good god man, it's college football!!!!! This is the way the cards fell. No one "got screwed" it just worked out this way. If Michigan would have showed they were the best team in the land when they had the chance, we would not have to read a "Michigan got screwed, they are the best team in the Universe" post everyother day.
It just seems sour grapes from the Michigan fans. Tired of the all the crying. At some point you just have to let go and look to next year. If not considering the winner this year the real champ makes you feel better then go ahead (you really don't need my blessing) point is, comments like that makes Michigan fans look bad.
Don't mean to be harsh, just enough is enough. I never rubbed the big win in anyones face so it has been really hard listening to all the crying for a month now.
anybody who thinks florida is a better team then michigan is out of their mind. period.
i truly would have thought that bucks fans would have been upset too. why not have a great game between the 2 best teams. we lost 1 game, by 3, on the road to the number 1 team in the country. we didnt need a miracle (make that 3 miracles) to win by 1 at home against a mediocre team. we didnt lose to a team we should have easily beaten that played absolutly nobody all season long except another team that plays nobody. but most bucks fans i meet are happy to have the easy out but wont admit it so they play the florida deserves it card. it seems that the only true buckeye fans run in the older crowds. they are all upset they arent getting to play the second best team in the country.

So Michigan's second stringers aren't as good as Ball State's first stringers? Hahahaha.
Florida has played their second stringers in several non-conference games that were very similar to the talent level of Ball States, yet they won easily.
whatever. i guess we will just wait until osu and u of m win by 2 touchdowns each and then we can have the discussion about who the best 2 teams actually were and what would have been the best game.
Michigan had their shot at OSU and came up short.....plain and simple. The way I see it, they made the right call with Florida, a one loss team with the #1 strength of schedule in the nation. SEC schedule or a Big Ten, I think most people would agree that the SEC is hands down a more competitive top to bottom than the Big 10. The Big 10 has two teams (sometimes 3) most years that are are very good and the rest of them are scrub teams. Have said that, I don't think OSU is going to walk all over FL like alot of the experts are predicting.
well damn. maybe i dont have to worry about osu winning the ncaa's. they got destroyed by florida. what an embarrassment for a team that is so full of themselves. now atleast florida will be able to say you blew us out in football and we blew you out in basketball. my dad is a huge osu fanboy. and loves oden. it made me very happy to see them get dismantled like that. although i couldnt talk too much crap because of michigans performance against ucla. but then again i havent been saying double championship for the past couple weeks. with that being said i think it has alot to do with oden coming back after they had learned to play without him. im sure they will be clicking come march.
