I have finally caught up. The 31 minute seperation i believe is how long it took the chopper to get from the boat to the islands time "bubble". once they entered the boat would be exactly the time behind as it took them to get there.
"DAMON LINDELOF: You can get away with it in Heroes, where there is an apocalyptic future you want to avoid. But we're doing the opposite. We want to work toward a future where Jack is absolutely miserable and wants to go back to the Island. Everything we present to the audience has to be factual.
CUSE: We want the audience to believe that is THE future. We don't want people thinking, ''Well, since there are five iterations of this, I'm not going to invest in what's happening to the characters.''
LINDELOF: We're not going to tell you that we're against bending the time/space continuum. We are very for it. Carlton and I are PRO time-space continuum bending! But we're ANTI-paradox. Paradox creates issues. In Heroes, Masi Oka's character travels back from the future to say, ''You must prevent New York from being destroyed.'' But if they prevent New York from being destroyed, Masi Oka can never travel back from the future to warn you, because Future Hiro no longer exists. Right? So when we start having those conversations at Lost, we go, ''This show is already confusing enough as it is.'' To actually have characters traveling through time has to be handled very deftly.
CUSE: For example, the fifth episode of the season [airing next week] deals with time travel and operates in different time periods. It was a tough story to break. But we adhere to our rule: no paradox.
LINDELOF: It's been weird, though. When we got back from the strike, we had to put up a master timeline of the future, from the point where the Oceanic 6 will end up leaving the Island all the way up to where the flash-forwards will end.
CUSE: And the hard thing was charting a timeline when there's a bend in space/time: How do you illustrate that kind of timeline when time isn't entirely linear? That took us an entire morning —
LINDELOF: — just to debate the quantum physics of it all.
CUSE: We needed to bring in a professional illustrator. [They smirk.]
INTERVIEWER: I have a sneaking suspicion you're pulling my leg on some of this stuff.
whoa whoa whoa. i would miss like the most important detail of the whole episode. so, she doesn't have a kid. she is taking care of claire's? which leads to the obvious... where is claire?
cause, didn't desmond have a flash that showed claire and the baby getting off the island?

i have no idea what happens to claire but i would really like to know why theyre lying to everyone about what happened after the crash. oh well, i can be patient and spoilers help in the meantime.

I think they have to lie to everyone about what happened after the crash. I mean if we are to believe that there is some sort of space-time continuum thing going on, those that got rescued from the supposed Dharma people on the boat, would have had to make a deal with them to pretend like they're the only survivors. But obviously there are still some people on the island, presumably Claire. That's why Jack wanted to get back there, and Charlie visits Hurley and tells him they need help.
That was a crazy twist at the end though. I thought the whole time, even before this episode, that it was Sawyer's kid. But I guess not. I think Sawyer's gotta still be on the island or he was in the coffin at the end of last season.

Desmond's flash was of Claire and Aaron getting on a helicopter. Who knows what happens after that? As we learned last night, it's not a simple flight to the freighter.
I wonder what this means for the psychic's warning to Claire to raise Aaron herself? and will we ever meet the "good people" from L.A. who supposedly wanted to adopt Aaron?

So is Aaron one of the Oceanic 6 or not?
yeah i believe that some are still on the island i just want to know why they have to lie and say only 8 survived and whatnot. I dont think Aaron counts as one of the 6 because he wasnt listen on the flight (thats what people from other message boards have said). I am loving these flash forwards though even thought they frustrate the crap out of me.
Yeah, we don't have DVR and last night we were like "did she say his name was Eric? Aaron? WTF???" I know my Inforoosters would set me straight! Off to call the spouse! ;D

I wouldn't mind seeing Claire get an arrow through the throat from one of Rousseau's traps. But that's just me.
Honestly I wouldn't mind that either
awww...why is that? i actually like claire.
so who is your favorite character? the first couple of seasons, my fave was lock, but now my favorite is desmond. i love his accent!! and how he says "aye!" instead of yes. and lock started acting crazy!!

oh, and about kate's "son" being called aaron: i totally flipped and my boyfriend said: "wait, who's aaron??" and i told him it was claire's son's name, and he started flipping out too! gotta love this show...
and one more thing: is anyone else of the opinion that charlie might not be dead? i know he looked like he died when he was underwater, but this show is full of surprises. does anyone think maybe he swam out the window and he's coming back later? maybe he actually WAS the swimming champion that could hold his breath for 4 minutes! it's true that he appeared to hurley in the future, and i can't explain that. but it would be totally crazy if he were still alive!! since they didn't bury him i feel like there's some way he can still come back!

I don't dislike Claire, just don't care too much about her. I used to find her really irritating but now I'm just indifferent. For some reason I really like Sawyer, I think there is alot to him.
As far as Charlie not really being dead, supposedly J.J. Abrams or someone has confirmed that he is in fact dead.
My other main question. Why is Jack's father alive in the flash forwards? I think his storyline is gonna get craaazy.

I think jacks father may be jacob (the man in the cabin) remember the coffin was empty when the plane crashed.

i know he was the man in the rocking chair in the cabin but im not sure if it was REALLY him. Remember the black coud monster can take on different forms (took the form of Yemi) . But I have also thought that maybe he is Jacob but there is still so much to explain.

the man in the chair looked a great deal like locke i think i read somewhere that it actually was the same actor, only with a wig. crazyness!! so i guess we'll find out soon what's going on with that.
and yes, i'm very intrigued about jack's father being alive in the flash forwards.
one more thing...does aaron count as one of the oceanic 6? he wasn't really a passenger on the plane.
and who do you think is in the coffin at the funeral jack goes to in the flash forward. i thought it was ben, but he was alive in sayid's flash forward. so now i don't know!
so many questions! aarrarhhh!!! i love this show ;D
woa woa, did i miss something? when was jack's dad alive in the flashforwards??
unless i'm mistaken, i don't think we know anything for sure. jack mentions his dad twice as if he was alive in the flashforwards of season 3's finale.
Post by starrynight on Feb 24, 2008 10:39:07 GMT -5
in ther first flash forward we see of jack (i believe season 3 finale) when he is talking to the chief of surgery he says "why dont you go upstairs right now and talk to my father, and if i'm more drunk than he is, then you can fire me.." or something along those lines
and i think the eye looked like Locke, and the man in the chair was Christian, but who knows for sure.
