so I suppose that the reason they see random people in the forest from time to time... like some people that are dead that appear to them... is because of the time travel thing? Or are those appearances for some other reason?

What makes no f*cking sense to me is when Locke left the island, how long was he back in the "real" world before he committed suicide and everyone came back? That was ONE episode's worth of time. Seems like maybe a week or two passed. So in that time 3 years passed on the island? Huh? I know there's a discrepancy between real world time and island time, but that makes no sense to me.
now that we know the link between widmore, eloise and faraday, i have a feeling we will see very soon what widmore did to get himself exiled from the island. i think this will be a turning point.
also this guy's website has some pretty valid hypothesi (sp???) in my opinion.
I like to think that I know a little bit about Egyptian Culture, so when I saw that statue from the back, no lie, I actually did think it looked like Anubis.
In the comments, this guy makes a good point:
Perhaps as well is that the island is special for those who believe and not for everyone.
I recall Locke and Rose both believed in the power of the island to heal, just as Ben believes in the island but not everyone has believed in the islands special powers. Just as not everyone believes in Jacob. Also if we are using Egyptian logic here, we might also consider the belief in dualism. That the island has to exist for the rest of the world to exist, a kind of stabilizing polarity. (some are chosen to ensure the island remains safe and thus the world endures) That is why the exit of the island is in the Arctic while the Island is a warm tropical paradise or why the magnetism of the island makes it difficult to pinpoint within the normal world.
Another twist, is that the energy centers talked about in the pendulum episode, would fit into the idea of new age thinking about Chakra centers, which relate to the esoteric cults of Egypt. Locke also visited a Chakra site in Australia. In the pendulum episode, Ben chats with Jack about the Gospel of Thomas, this gospel is often referred to as a mystical esoteric text that uses light and dark dualistic thought much akin to the ancient Egyptians view of the world. My guess is that island will eventually move thousands of years in the past and reveal more.
(The submarine is the ferry of the dead between worlds)

Good catch! Light and dark is a very central theme to the show. I haven't visited Lostpedia in a while, but there used to be an entire page devoted to this idea. There were two stones found on the bodies of "Adam" and "Eve", one white and one black. The producers have said these characters are important and that we'd learn more about the stones when the time comes.
As for Locke just happening to have landed three years into the future when he pushed the frozen donkey wheel, maybe it's a case where you have to think about where you want to go whenyou push the wheel, and then you will end up there?

Oh but you know Sayid......He's a bad ass MOFO. He knows why he's there..... to quack poop up!! He just better not die. I will seriously stop watching if Sayid ever dies. I think the fact that he met kiddie Ben at the end is telling.
My initial thoughts are that I didn't really like it, but like danbird, I feel that this episode is setting up for the rest of the season. So I'm going to have to think about it some before I make a final verdict.

Did anyone notice the runway they landed on? This seems to be the same runway the Others had Kate and Sawyer working on when they were captured and put in the bear cages. I think Juliet mentioned in a past episode that it was a runway, but did not know what for. My opinion is that past Ben must have known they would need a runway so he built one before the Aijira plane landed on the island. Any thoughts on this?

Holy poop, I didn't expect him to do that... so how does this affect Big (current time) Ben?? Are there gonna be some back-to-the-future style repercussions??? Great Scott!
god that was awesome! Now i have no clue. I figured the whole time that everything they did in the past already happened and they couldnt affect the future. But Sayid doing that dramatically changed things and now may allow Dharma to survive and adult Ben to reenter into the 70s.

I can't quite get on the board with the idea that Adult Ben can't enter the 70s because his 12-year-old self is there. On one hand it makes some sense, but on the other, is the same true for Sun? And Frank? Are they in the 70s already, too?
I think this is just one of Bens many secrets. I bet he has had a scar on his chest he whole time.
The only thing I am slightly confused about is the episode about Locke ate the end they showed him the place where they were keeping the sick/wounded people from the crash and Ben was one of them. When was this? After Sun hit him?

That is correct. I hope they go back to that storyline next. I wanna see a Locke/Ben showdown.
I mean if Ben 1977 survives that would be so crazy he would have known exactly who all these people are, investigating them waiting for their past selves to show up in the future....crazy ass Lost
