I think the statue could be what getfresh posted - it has been there for who knows how long and we don't know how long women have been unable to have babies on the island. Maybe the incident caused that, maybe the destruction of the statue itself caused that
Good one. The destruction of the Goddess of Fertility caused the inability to have children on the Island. I like it.
Jacob wove a tapestry of thread he spun himself in his chamber in the plinth of the four-toed statue during his many years on the Island. Other views of the tapestry
His tapestry depicts a pair of wings outstretched from an encircled Eye of Ra, and what appear to be seventeen long arms emanating like rays out from the eye. The hands at the ends of the arms grope for human figures who appear to be at the mercy of the hands, while a king sits in a throne and observes. The position of the tapestry as it hangs inside the four-toed statue plinth
Across the top of the tapestry is emblazoned quote from from Homer's Odyssey in upper case ancient Greek: ΘΞΟΙ ΤΟΣΑ ΔΟΙΞΝ ΟΣΑΦΡΞΣΙ ΣΗΣΙ ΜΞΝΟΙΝΑΖ. The original sentence, in lower case is θεοὶ τόσα δοι̂εν ὅσα φρεσὶ σῃ̂σι μενοινᾳ̂ς (transcribed as theoi tosa doien hosa phresi sêisi menoinais) belongs to Book 6, line 180 and means: may the gods grant thee all that thy heart desires [1]
The quote at the bottom, which can be only partly seen, in full reads: ΘΞΟΙ ΔΞ ΤΟΙ ΟΛΒΙΑ ΔΟΙΞΝ. The original sentence is θεοὶ δέ τοι ὄλβια δοῖεν (transcribed as theoi de toi olbia doien), and means may the gods grant thee happiness. It can be found in several places in the Odyssey, e. g. Book 8, line 413 and Book 24, line 402. [2]
The tapestry also depicts numerous other figures laboring, and what appear to be geometric designs along the bottom.

I dont think the destruction of the Statue causes the infertility because it seems in 1973 people can still have babies on the island. That is when Ethan is born and I am almost positive the statue is not intact then. I think the incident may have something to do with it. Also, what if jacob is not really the good guy in all this. Frank said the good guys always turn out to be the bad guys. That probably has some meaning.

Did anyone else notice Juliet hold her stomach when the ywere with Bernard and Rose. It seemed liek she was pregnant? She turned the tea down and Bernard looked at her strangely? Maybe that is why she wanted the bomb to go off. Maybe she thinks things will change and she want be pregnant and in turn die from it on the island. (FYI so I dont steal someones material, The last part about Juliet agreeing with jack I got from Lostepedia)

Ethan was born on the Island, so we know that the whole people not being able to have babies ocurred sometime after this time period. Once again, I think it's a form of punishment.
Also, what if jacob is not really the good guy in all this.
I certainly don't think he is. The more I think about it, the more I think there's a power struggle going on between Jacob and the man in black. A game, if you will. Maybe a game of chess? Black and white, pawns....
Backgammon. Locke refers to a set being found in ancient Mesopotamia in the pilot episode. Its pretty cool because I recently started rewatching Lost with my Wife who hasnt ever kept up with it. So I am getting a double dose.
Does anyone else now think that Rose and Bernard were Adam and Eve(the skeletons found in the cave)?
I personally think that scene was the end of Rose and Bernard, and I don't think we'll see them again. They seem to have found what they are looking for (peace and quiet). I could be completely wrong, but I have a feeling "Adam and Eve" are more important characters than Rose and Bernard.
As soon as I saw them I thought Adam and Eve. But then during the scene I realized that they are still wearing factory made clothes. Adam and Eve were wearing handmade clothing like Jacob and the other guy had on. And they had the whole black and white thing going on as well. Which is funny that B&R are black and white.

^ same here. But i just wanna say, even though John Locke is dead and the man in black has taken his forn, I'm still gonna root for him for now. I don't think Jacob is a good guy, and I don't think Juliette is dead. Hopefully they go even farther back in time. This episode was kinda slow in some parts, but i think this was a great way to end the season.
O Locke is definately the bad guy. I mean Jacob all but walked into the knife. When he said "they're coming" to Evil Locke he got majorly pissed. He has to be talking about Jack, Sawyer, Sayid, Kate, Jin, Juliette, and Miles.
Richard, Evil Locke, and Illana and crew will hold Sun and Frank hostage for a while probably. And the end could possibly hinge on what Ben chooses to do in a down the road situation.

Anybody notice Jack's amazing sharpshooting skills while on the run? How many people did he kill anyways?
Def seemed like another time flash at the end, which would mean Juliette is fine. But I don't know why a nuclear explosion would make them time travel again.

HAHAHAHAHA!
I noticed that whole shootout at the end seemed kind of ridiculous. Suddenly this group of people who previously couldn't handle anything with guns is a finely tuned precision military unit. The whole thing looked so much more tactically well-conceived than they should have been able to pull off - I kept asking the screen, when did they have time to go to boot camp in the last few hours?

that may have been more of a foreshadow for what was going to happen with Locke. Now that I know that it hasn't been Locke this whole time but this Easus guy?? Its been cool to think about Locke's little swagger he's had since he's been back, he's been a little more of a cocky badass.
They focused too many scenes on Juliette finding out, and knowing she was pregnant just to kill her off. Juliette is not dead. Wherever they flash, she will be with them

That is the consensus. When Bernard offered her the tea, she touched her stomach like a woman who is pregnant. I personally have never been pregnant, so I guess it would be like when I have too many burritos ;D
From my wandering online search, I have found that many feel the Egyptian God is Sobek.
The belief is that Jacob is Sobek. "He was a repairer of evil that had been done, rather than a force for good in itself"
The other man could be Seth, the God of mayhem and chaos. From my readings, Sobek and Seth did not get along.
I think it could be the other way around. Jacob is the creator of chaos, and Locke stealing dude has to clean it up. That has got to chafe after a few thousand years.
I'm still not under the impression that Juliette is pregnant. She had her gun tucked into the front of her pants... maybe she was touching that to sort of reinstate her mission? I guess I'm just ready to believe that she's dead and gone, and we've moved on.

I don't think Juliet is dead, but I don't think she is pregnant either. A pregnant woman would most likely not get off a sub going to safety to go back to an island that is about to be blown up by a hydrogen bomb.

I read somewhere in an article I think someone on here linked to I think that the actress that plays Juliette signed on for a different show. So that probably equals no more Juliette. I love the theories keep it coming guys I wish I could give karma to everyone in here at once.
Did anyone notice how Jacob touched all of the survivors in the flashbacks? Or if he didn't touch them directly, he handed something to them that he had touched. Very interesting....
Awesome episode but not quite a cliff-hanger like previous finales have been. I'm really please with the progression of the storyline though!
I think Jacob was testing them. Meeting jacob changed each one of their lives and sent them to the island. I think this is why everyone wants to kill him.
