The island is a sexist pig! It does seem that candidates need to be men, but on the other hand, Flocke said he didn't know if the Kwon referred to Sun or Jin, and it seems like he would know if the rule is boys only. Maybe his saying that was just a device to get us to pick up on the no women thing.
I just don't understand why, if Flocke's only goal is to kill everyone, he hasn't done so already. As Smokey he could have killed every one of them easily, couldn't he?
Did anyone else catch when real Locke was in the bath tub, Peg Bundy (sorry but that is how I see her) said she wanted to run away and get married. Just invite her parents and Locke's Dad? WTF? Dad pushed him out a window. But maybe not in this alternate universe?

Things have been changed in the other universe. Ben, Ethan, and Shannon were all out of place. My guess is either Locke didn't get adopted, or something happened that made his dad that stole his kidney not a dick in the alt timeline.
I think it was part of Locke's destiny to be in a wheelchair, whether his dad was responsible or not. I think the point of the alternate reality is to show us what these people's destinies are; that certain things would have happened even if the circumstances were different.
The author of the blog I mentioned before also wondered if it's Ben's destiny to kill Locke in the alternate timeline. I don't think it's a coincidence that they've met and Ben seems to be a controlling know-it-all then, too

well locke is a sub, maybe they are going to come in and be like. ben we have to let you go we have john here to take your place and ben gets real angry.

And then he whacks Locke over the head with that coffee maker that was annoying him. Locke then slips on the old coffee grounds that fell out when Ben swung the coffee maker, and injures his spine in the fall.
Entertainment weekly has an interesting take on FLocke.
Fake Locke said, "I want to go home." So....where's home? Exec producer Carlton Cuse offers up this warning: "He wants to leave the Island. If you start thinking about the ramifications of what happens if the Smoke Monster can leave the Island.....it's maybe not a good thing."
Maybe Jacob keeps MIB there on the island as prisoner for safety reasons. And Jacob brings people to the island that have potential for both good and evil, to try to teach MIB a lesson? I do know MIB is sick of it.
ok so i just read an article in rolling stone about lost and i love how they summed it up....
at heart, it's a sci-fi wackjob fantasy for hardcore gamers and stoners, drenched in a kind of wake-and-bake there-no-such-thing-as-a-conincidence paranoia and full of psychedelic in-jokes.
but through the nerdy haze, LOST has a soul. at its deepest, it is about the way we process and remember trauma and how that can be as damaging as the event itself. this is a group of people with some bad sh!t in their collective past who won't let each other forget it. they try to reconcile the past with the present, but they can't even agree on what the past is.

Apparently I have to stay away from Facebook on Tuesday nights from now on since douchey people on there are giving running commentaries of what is happening as they watch....I watch it when I get off at 9 on DVR. Jerkfaces. Oh well, more inforoo less facebook.

So Fake Locke "recruited" Claire long ago...Jin should have told Claire the REASON why Kate had her baby (because Claire up and left Aaron and walked off into the Jungle 3 years ago) but I understand she's crazy/being influenced by the evil fake locke and Jin wants to get back to the temple. So who do you think is trying to get to the island? I'm thinking it's Widmore, Desmond, and Penny either all of them or just Widmore or Desmond. I did enjoy this episode especially since Jacob was apart of it I <3 his mysterious character
Oh and I also loved the appendix reference and how Jack said he couldn't really "remember" getting it taken out
Alright I'm done
p.s. I just realized that all the LOSTies have a father issue......think about it
Right now it's just Jacobs Ghost, Jack, and Hurley against Fake Locke, Sawyer, Claire, and maybe Jin.
Looks like Fake Locke's crew is on a direct route to recruit at the temple where Sayid, Miles, Sun, Ben, and Illana are sure to be unless they somehow escape.
He's not gonna be able to recruit Illana, Sayid or Frank, but who knows about the other 3.
and my guess would be someone on Fake Locke's side is coming to the island, since Jacob's plan was basically to ruin the lighthouse. Probably Widmore.

But wasn't Widmore the good guy out of the Ben-Widmore conflict?
I'm loving the alt stuff. Screw the answers(not really), the alt stuff was what was great about Lost.
Also the scene with Jin and the Other when Claire is outside and then comes back in was great. Best scene in the real timeline so far, so intense. Also I don't think Jin could have really reasoned with Claire. This isn't the Claire that people have been attached to. For all we know she has been dead for a while.
Also can someone please explain how MiB is stuck in Locke's body, but Christian has also been making appearances to Claire. Ummm, what???
"And I just lied to a samurai!" best line of the whole episode.
I'm confused by this whole "someone is coming to the island" business. I know Jacob said that to Hurley at the beginning of the episode, but then, after Jack smashed up the mirrors, Jacob admitted that he sent them out of the Temple because someone was going to show up there. I assumed that he meant Fake Locke's people were going to the Temple and Jack and Hurley needed to get out.... and now I'm not sure that someone is actually coming to the island.
I will have to do my internet research this morning and see what other people think...
Not Locke said he wanted to leave the island. That was one of the 3 choices he was discussing with Sawyer in the cave. I imagine it would not be good for the rest of the world if the Smoke Monster were to get off the island.
If anyone is curious, Carlton says the thing in Claire's baby basket is referred to as "Squirrel Baby". I didn't get a good enough look at it to tell exactly what it was, all I know is it looked rotted and probably smelled really bad.
So aaron was born on the island. is it possible that we see somehow later he ends up back on the island? maybe jacob IS aaron all grown up? idk kicking some ideas around
i like the way you're thinking. whoever is coming to the island (probably desmond and whidmore) somehow has aaron with them. at the end of the series there will be a time flash that brings them back thousands of years. all of the survivors will die (skeletons in the cave) except Aaron who was born on the island and thus cannot die on the island (unless he is murdered idk). he will continue to live and rule the island until his murder, and thus someone else will need to take his place. idk just adding to your theory.
i agree on the idea that the sides are shaping up. here is how i see it: side one-fake locke, claire, widmore, sawyer, christian side two-jacob, ben, hurley, samurai
-i think jack is a wild card. i think that's why he is 'so important'. he is either going to step up, or completely blow it. -even though ben murdered jacob, i think he is on jacob's side. since ben was so neglected when he was little, he is probably lashing out at his 'father' figure. blabhablha. -i think christian is not dead. i was thinking (like i'm sure many of you) that his 'ghost' was another reincarnation of fake locke. BUT there is no body! that has been the biggest difference. we saw locke's body. he wasn't even shy about hiding that. -i think maybe the person coming is desmond. i hope he gets to save the day b/c he had it so crappy in that button pushing hatch.
questions i have: -will sayid turn 'crazy' like claire? if so, why would jacob tell the people to put him the water? that doesn't connect for me. -why is aaron so fcuking important??? i really think it has something to do with being one of the only babies born on the island. -who was #108 they were supposed to go to? is that important? -what the heck does fake locke want in the temple?? hasn't the smoke monster been in the temple before?? when it appeared to ben as alex? when it got the french team? that confuses me. -where is walt?
ok. sorry. that was a lot.

I ♥ Hurley. They give him the best lines. I write them down so that I can hurl them at people later ;D
Team Smokie VS Team Jacob
In EW they mention a scene they watched being shot. MIB is wreaking hellacious havoc. There is fire, there is blood. There is a man flying through the air, and not by choice. Sayid and Claire emerge from the aftermath. So I guess fake Locke makes it to the temple.
Next weeks episode is Sayid-centric. This makes me happy.
And Sawyer, please take a bath. Your looking as rough as Claire.
