This show has been full of religious references from day one. I don't understand why anyone would expect that suddenly to stop in the final season, or why anyone who felt that way would have watched past the first few episodes. If it bothers you, try thinking of it as being references to classic literature, which is probably more the point-of-view the writers are coming from anyway. It's not like they're proselytizing, so what's the big deal? The continuing existance of Kate is much more annoying!
oh, it doesn't bother me per say. i guess i used the wrong words....i just didn't think in the first few seasons it would turn out to be evil incarnate vs. good incarnate (or lesser evil??? we shall see!). if it bothered me that much, i wouldn't watch the show.

I agree with VC, that the show has been chock-full of religious references from the first season.
But personally I see the focus of the show shifting more toward the struggle between good and evil, which isn't exactly a religious point of view, but more a comment on human nature. I really think that's what the writers are trying to get us to think about, how everyone has good and evil but it's our choices that really define us.

I thought last night's episode was going to have some redeeming value when Claire jumped Kate. Finally, girl fight! But noooooo, Frakenlockestein had to go and pull her off.
I thought last night was good, but instead of answers I just have more questions. I don't see how this show can answer all the questions in 8 episodes.

The thing I liked most about last night's episode: With Sawyer's alternate timeline, I thought it really put into light how Jacob's touch/influence has lead them down the path that would eventually lead them to the island. We might assume that when Jacob met him at the church after his parent's funeral, that was when James became the conning Sawyer that we've come to know. But since that didn't take place, James Ford went down a different path (which he acknowledged to Miles when he said he came to a point where he could be a criminal or a cop and he chose cop).

Wasnt that Charlotte?
but i did think that same thing that he didn't become the con man because he wasnt affected by jacob.

I agree that the episode implied that Jacob's influence led him down the con man path, but it doesn't seem like the cop path was really that much different from the con man path. He still spent his life obsessed with finding Sawyer and intent on killing him once he found him. He still took the trip to Australia, which put him on Flight 815. So, taking the cop path wouldn't really have had a different result if the plane had still crashed.
And was Charlotte actually looking for something in his drawers? He clearly said top right, and she went straight for the top left and seemed to be pretty searching pretty intently for someone looking for a t-shirt.
I think it was part of her destiny to be "on the run". Sort of like it was Locke's destiny to end up in a wheelchair, but we don't know how he got there.
Now that I think about it, do we know what Kate has done to be wanted in the alternate timeline? I remember Claire asking her at the hospital. Kate said "Would you believe me if I told you?" or something like that.... did she still kill her dad?

I think she said something like would you believe me if I said I was innocent. So maybe she didn’t kill her dad, but is accused of it?
And being a cop definitely explains why sawyer didn’t try and con Hurley on the plane.
I was glad to finally see my sawyer and miles are cops spoiler pop up. This was imo the second weakest episode besides the Kate episode.
