Inspired by browell on the People of Inforoo podcast... We DO need to see more pets on this damn site!! Here are my two babies:
Beasley is a spry 15 year old lady who loves to yell and yell and yell... But we love her anyway. Most of the time.
Andy is our sweet rescue baby and literally the bestest boi EVER. Now three years old, he loves napping, short walks on quiet streets and snuggles. But his favorite things on earth are other dogs. Here he is chillin' at his favorite spot, the dog bar.
On the morning of October 1st I received some of the worst news you could think of. Speck ( my oldest dog ) took a turn for the worst and the decision was made to put him to sleep. In between Thursday night and Friday night it seemed that he was ready to leave us. He refused to drink water or eat food. He lost his sense of balance which made it difficult for him to get up or walk and wanted to be left alone. ( vet confirmed heart failure ) Rocket being the watchful younger brother brought this to my parents attention by almost bringing the door down. I myself was not there to say goodbye to him. It was agonizing to not have one final moment with him. Having to keep most of my emotions bottled up the last few days has not been pleasant. But I was fortunate to have had friends and loved ones close by to help me cope as best as possible. Over the years Speck always brought me some peace and respite after long days and I could always count on him being there, relaxed and with a smile. He was always the quiet and strong presence for a little guy which makes me miss him even more. Although in his latter years he was more grumpy, but I cant blame him for it. I won't forget going to get you the day before thanksgiving in 2008 from a Pennysaver ad. And easily choosing you instead of your attention seeking sibling. There was no doubt you were the dog for our family. I love you, Speck. Thank you for these last 14 years. I hope you found your peace from the pain. Nov 26 2008 - Oct 1 2022
P.s. Strangely enough I took photos of him a few hours before this all started. ( last ones )
I’m so sorry for your loss, supЯefan. I’ve said it half million times and I’ll say it half a million more. Losing pets is losing your immediate family member.
I’m glad he has a brother for you to turn to. You’ll both need one another to get through this.
Yeah, thanks guys. We're doing better. Just weird not having him around. No idea if Rocket gets a new little brother eventually. Although this time I cant get a Pom from craigslist and such cause sales like that are banned in cali now. I think my parents personally feel this is their last dog since they would be in their 80's if it was a waiting scenario for another one. Too much effort for seniors and a puppy.
Totally understand that. My mom is pushing 70 and refuses to think about getting any pet because she doesn’t want to leave them when she goes.
When we got our kitties a few years ago, Mrs. GL was joking with me and said “ These will be the last kittens you ever know” and I swear to god I’d rather her punch me in the face. It would have been nicer.

Well the gf might get a cat eventually so there might be another fur baby lounging around one day. When Rocket was a puppy we had gone out to buy him a sweater cause we had a ridiculous cold snap here and they had sold out of em in a few places. A local petsmart had this one cat up for adoption named Sahara. We looked at each and thought it def wouldve been the one to get due to our love for Coachella. Did have a longstanding agreement if she did get a cat it would be named Hand Banana. ( yeah, i love aqua teen that much )
FYI if there is indeed a future Pom ( which would be my 5th ) he would be named Speck. ( yeah, the trope from the Simpsons like Snowball ) Our vet had to add numbers in the database cause the old records showed the info from the ones in the 90's.

I mentioned that one of my cats died when I was at Coachella one year, but I didn't mention that 2 of my current cats were born during the same Coachella. We thought it was surely a sign and named one Yuma and one Sahara.

Lol, of course. Naming pets human names is always amazing though. Friends in chicago adopted a cat during covid and named him Steve ( albini ). They just got a house and are potentially going to get him a partner and name them Sharon ( van etten )

My girl dog (almost 14 yrs) who passed a few months ago was named "Ruby" but I specifically named her "Ruby Mae" based on the Felice Brothers song. Of course, I'm not going to get mad when my family and friends don't want to use a full human name for a dog and it naturally became Ruby or other short variations. So she was basically just Ruby lol. But I knew her real name. She did too.

We’ve named all our dogs people names. We’ve had Madison (Darryl Hannah in Splash), Yoko (who is more actually named after a dog in the very terrible National Lampoon’s Thanksgiving Family Reunion), Omar (so many Omars- Mr. Omar from Everybody Hates Chris, Omar White from Oz, Omar Rodriquez Lopez, but really, we were watching The Wire when we got him, so Omar Little), Dave (Dave Brockie), and Murray (Goldberg).
That’s awesome. Saoirse will be in Barkus tomorrow. It’s an aviator theme so she has some goggles and a helmet which she hates and a bandana. I think there’s 1000 dogs this year which is great. Royalty is reserved for only rescue dogs, but she’ll be a pilot. I wish I would have spent time on the wagon which would have been cool to go with a Snoopy or Red Barron plane. I’ll get some photos. Tuxy is banned because he hates dogs.
My baby girl is visiting with my mother while I’ll be in the Bahamas and I feel like a piece of me has been taken. If y’all can post pet pictures, that would help a lot.

This is Bastet. She is a rescue and smarter than all my pure bloods combined. She likes sky raisins, treats, sunshine, and belly rubs.

This is Killian, I lost him in June after 11 wonderful years. Toughest part of pet ownership but I'll always remember and be thankful for the times we had.
Edit: well hell, I can't get the image to show up for whatever reason.
Just upload and use the BBCode Fully Linked. It’ll give you adds when you post the picture just take out the [ url = yadda yadda yadda] [/*url] tags at the beginning and end.

I'm hopefully rescuing a cat this weekend 🤞.
Update: I did rescue a cat. It's only day 2 and she is still in her hiding phase because she is super shy. Will post pics when she warms up to me more.
Finally a diff breed wins the Westminster. But still lame the judges cant stop picking the same handful as finalists though. I need a Pom to beat that damn Pekingese one of these years in the toy group.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
