I have no idea if they're free then, but The Black Crowes would be an acceptable replacement as far as I'm concerned. I'd also settle for Clapton.
Yeah I guess I could settle for Clapton too.
Live Nation needs to step up here and show that they can use their clout for more than buying other companies. I may be dreaming, but they do have the pull to get someone good even at this late of a date.
If nothing else this means more Mule, which is a good thing.
I think the Crowes are in Europe during Wanee. I think it'll end up being Gov't Mule and .moe taking over the headlining spots for Friday and Saturday. Since Levon Helm is playing 'roo, I think I'm gonna go ahead and completely cancel my trip to Wanee this year. No ABB, No real Wanee in my mind.
If they can't get a good replacement they should just get all the Allman Bros. that are healthy and set up a cool Friends of the Bros. jam. Just have everybody come on stage and jam.
it looks like mule is getting a 2 half set and on saturday we get a wanee family jam.. That family jam sounds like it might be a damn good time. Here is the announcement.
The Wanee Festival will be going on as scheduled. Gov’t Mule will be closing the Peach Stage Friday night with a full 2 ½ hour concert set and JUST ANNOUNCED the Saturday night Peach Stage will be closed by the WANEE FAMILY JAM prior to the festivals traditional closing Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi - Soul Stew Revival, MIDNIGHT JAM on the Mushroom Stage. Don’t miss Bob Weir & Ratdog, Levon Helm Band, moe., Oteil & the Peacemakers, JJ Grey & Mofro and all the other scheduled bands that will also be appearing! Further information www.waneefestival.com.
Festival tickets will be $150.00 for Two Days inclusive of camping and on Monday, March 31 One Day tickets will be available for $85.00. Plus Applicable surcharge.
Tickets available through Ticketmaster.
Refunds are available prior to show date at point of purchase.
It looks like there is a small chance I might try to go just for Saturday night. I still don't know if I can get out of work early enough to make it worthwhile. But it may be my only chance to see moe. for a while and I have a feeling that the Wanee Family Jam will be worth the trip.

Something I found interesting as I was perusing the Wanee Festival site is that in the links page of the website they have all the links to the bands playing this year and they also have a link to Robert Randolph's site. Do you think there is a possibility he might be there? His tour schedule has a gap from the 6th to the 19th, so maybe.

It would be a nice add, but I would say very doubtful at this late of a date.
It is doubtful, but hopefully we get an addition to the line-up. I remember Tift Merritt was not on the website at all last year and I fully enjoyed her set.
Back from Wanee. It was indeed another fantastic festival. The Wanee Family Jam was basically the Allman Brothers Band w/o Gregg and practically everyone who was at Wanee sat in.
I do believe that the absence of The Allman Brothers Band led to alot of sit-ins for shows all weekend long. I saw Larry McCray sit in with Oteil and the Peacemakers, Susan Tedeschi with Scrapomatic, Warren Haynes and Oteil Burbridge with Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi, Papa Mali bring in his old saxophone player, and not least the one and only Little Sammy Davis sat in with Levon Helm.
