Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
i agree. i dont get why people get so upset. like inforoo is their own personal stomping grounds and if your not part of the happy go lucky everything is great crowd then they whine. how come noone has anything to say to the dude who said fuck super fly and fuck widespread. did i say anything nearly that negative? no i just responded with a not nearly as negative post. i think its more that i just have a fan club that loves to hang on everything i say because inforoo is their happy place and they have WAY too much invested in it. oh well.... damn i hate having time on my hands. dont fear super heros work starts back up soon and festie season is upon us.... ill be out of yer hair living life soon! thankyou for your hard work policing the internet.... your hard work turned a 1 post exchange into 5 pages of nonsense. heck of a job!
ooh ooh... I want to make a long rambling post too
I guess I'm one of those people who tries to stay positive on these boards. I like to joke around and keep it light. (nom nom nom) I usually stay away from conflict.
but honestly... I AM disappointed in Bonnaroo this year and probably won't go. I'm going to other fests and my summer will be jam-packed with music. My decision NOT to go didn't have anything to do with Metallica, Kanye, or WSP. It all boils down to the fact that my favorite bands are playing other places and I can catch them without the marathon endurance test that IS Bonnaroo. In past years it was worth it and I suffered the heat and exhaustion with a big smile on my face. This year it just isn't worth it. I kept waiting for Superfly to give me that one "thing" I couldn't resist... didn't happen.
I love that crazy farm in TN. Part of my heart is there. I know that place like the back of my hand. I've had some of my best memories there (musical and otherwise) but Roo doesn't have a monopoly on good times. "The Roo Vibe" isn't really a ROO thing... it's at Rado, AllGood, Echo, and at a lot of the other fests too. It started before we were born and will continue after we die. PEOPLE carry that vibe not a single event.
All you hippie haters need to realize that Bonnaroo started with "jam-bands"... and hippies... and all the traditions that go with them. Have some respect. Fans like me don't appreciate being talked down to and thrown a bone... we want to be represented fairly. Sure, Roo has changed and evolved, everybody knows that... can we just show a little understanding to those who don't LOVE those changes...
I was at the Roo '02... I was at Roo '07... I've seen the changes with my own two eyes. Everything is different, good in some ways, bad in others. Bonnaroo used to be MY fest now it's somebody else's... I hope those people have their faces ripped to shreds by outstanding music... I'll do the same, just not at Roo.
.... and a note to Stallion: don't preach to Dude about his "facist attitude" and how he "doesn't get it" when you're telling Jerry fans to go to hell in your sig... .... I find THAT offensive...
I try really hard to not be overly sensative and - in general - have no problems with anyone on this board but I can't really overlook one thing that Keith said in his most recent post
it seems like this little superheros of positivity club, along with a cop who wants to yak about corn all the time and who very nicely fits who i was referring to as asshats, has already cost us a couple good inforooers.
Now - I may be overreacting in thinking that Keith is pointing fingers (and I hope I am overreacting here)
1. at me - for trying to be overly positive. If you were, Keith, guess what - I have enough negativity in my everyday life working for the VA and dealing with veterans who have seen more then you will ever see in your life. I don't come to Inforoo for negative things - I come here for the positivity and excitement about Bonnaroo.
2. at Boz for the cop comment. I just want to point out something to you - Boz worked Animal Control for a number of years - a thankless job that put him in the line of fire more then once. Now he works dispatch telling cops where to go. What he does in his personal time with the stressful job that he does is really no one's business and he normally keeps it very private. He let's loose here because he considers the members of Inforoo to be close friends that aren't going to rat him out or dog him out because of what he does for a living. In case you haven't noticed - I have been a member here for right at 2 years now - Boz has just recently started posting more because he thought this was a group of friends that would not judge him because of his job.
Another thing - the title of this thread is "I am disappointed" Not quack Bonnaroo because all the other festivals are better then Bonnaroo will ever be. It is a thread about being disappointed about the latest addition - not about the festival as a whole - so it makes sense that I would come here and read this thread because I am disappointed with WSP being added - just not my favorite band - but that does not mean Bonnaroo sucks or Langerado beat them - or Allgood is better
They are all different - some of us go to one - some of us go to several - I choose to go to Bonnaroo.

I had already PMed Keith about the cop comment, and it was not Boz at all. He told me who it was, and also said that guy hasn't been around for a while. It was definitely not your husband he was referring to, meg.

even if i didnt love you for being you, this is exactly how i feel, and exactly why im not going to roo this year either. you summed up my thoughts better than I.

and for the record jam has to be the most diverse class of music as far as undefinable music classifications go. the dead, string cheese, left over slamon, umphrey's, bisco, robert randolph, les claypool, mule, keller, grace potter, deep banana blackout, moe., oar, toubab krewe, tlg, wsp, oysterhead, msmw, etc... all groups i would consider jam. and they represent such a wide spectrum of music that its almost impossible to even call it a genre. to me there is diversity all over the jam scene. not only between the bands, but also just within a band from one show to the next. its not the same set list played the same way 50 times in a row and callin it a tour. its different everytime. to me jam = diversity almost every band outside of the mainstream cash cow bands that do the same show every freeking night just like it is on the cd so the lights will look super neato and whatnot can be considered jambands. roo in recent times has embraced those cash cow productions. its more of a play then a concert. they are actors putting on the same play everynight. its boring to me, and to me its not what roo was about. umphreys and company are authors, giving us a new experience every time we see them. and people can say what they want about 04 and dave but youve never heard me bitch. because i loved both shows. you couldnt have asked for a better set of special guests then what dave had. he got what roo headlining was all about. imo metallica, tom petty, tool, the police, etc... havent got a clue. i guess i shouldnt prejudge because i had to eat my words with radiohead. but i feel like im pretty safe in assuming that metallica is gonna put on the same show theyve been putting on for a decade. i dont mind pj. i woulda had them open for neil young is all. but the bottom line is that even if you do despise all hiphop or electronic or whatever and are a closed minded jam fan then id still say you have far more diversity in your music then most of the people listening to tool, metallica, or kanye. not judging. just forming my opinion based on my experiences in life. am i still entitled top do that?

K - then all apologies Keith - I know who you are talking about now
Told you I hoped I was overreacting - I am pretty good with people having issues with me - but when it comes to him - I know he is a big boy and can defend himself - but my claws come out.
And now I will move on to spreading positive rather then negative and stay away from this thread
See ya at 'roo

My sig line is a quote from The Electric apricot movie, which was written by Les Claypool. If you find it offensive, take it up w/ him. And it's not directed at all Jerry fans, rather at good-for-nothing festie-touring hippies who don't get jobs and contribute to society and whatnot.
F-in hippies have no sense of humor. Reminds me of a lyric from someone else about hippies that will probably offend you:
We're never wrong about nothing And we look pretty good We never ever have to worry We're always in a hurry To convince ourselves that what we are Is really very groovy If we believe what's in the papers And the magazines that define our folklore We can never laugh At who or what we think we are Or even what we think We sorta oughta be 'Cause we are totally empty And our lives are really useless So what the f@ck? We ain't got no sense of humor We got nothing left To laugh about Including ourselves -------------------------Frank Zappa: "We're Turning again"
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it

i miss oaty.
I kinda miss him too... but then I remember how he called me an "oblivious bitch" and I get over it.
yep it was not directed at boz at all. i didnt even know he was out of the animal control biz. you and i have our differences but i like you. no hard feelings towards you or boz in anyway. but like i said i responded to someone saying quack wsp and talking about boring jam bands at roo (what theres 4 now?) but not one word was said about him or his negative and abrasive comments. its fairly obvious that there are a few people who constantly like to make posts directly about me and not about watever we are discussing. they only comment to point out my posts and tell everyone your opinion about me and my methods. not about whatever is being discussed. again you all take me way too seriously. does the new roo bother me and upset me a bit? for sure. does it have me running around town pulling my hair out screaming about custies and kanye? nope. im just killing time.

Yeah, upon getting the chance to spend a bunch of wildly intense fun-lovin' time with The Princess Alyroo... I gotta say NOTHING could be farther from the truth ;D

short for customer.... its kind of a negative term about people who are on vacation at fests and spend lots of money to keep the festie machine rolling. kinda the same as white hat. and not to be harsh or whatnot but its why there are bands like tool, kanye, the police, beastie boys, metallica, etc... keep showing up at fests. to "diversify" with people who spend money. i should purge all negativity from my life and quit using terms like custie. we will see how that goes ;D

while i don't think anyone intended to hijack this thread from the original poster's intent about the WSP addition, the direction these last 2 pages have gone in are exactly why i started coming to inforoo in the first place. got some passionate discussions, some opinions that might not be agreed with but are respected, some making sure people are talking about the same thing before flying off the handle, some older members i don't see post as often anymore, some newer members participating, and what sounds like some interesting inforoo gossip that i must've missed out on somehow:

interesting...i'll have to get the full story from becca when she gets back...she always knows everything hehe
anyway, just wanted to say thanks to those who took part in this thread today, made me remember what i loved about this place, if not bonnaroo itself.
edit: and for the record, i don't really hate Corncat. i DO think you guys overkill it just a little bit though
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!
i hope oateys lurking and smiling. him and i used to argue just to argue all the time. some of these people suck at arguing . they always wanna make it about what type of person you are based on an internet message board instead of just having it out over a topic. but i do get that inforoo is not you average message board and i agree i go overboard occasionally . but sh!t ive been pretty damn good this year!!!!!!!! this lineup at my old job and i would have been booted form inforoo..... again ;D

same here man. killing time on inforoo is good times. i just hope no one is seriously personally offended. nothing i say should be taken seriously. and enjoy that mini kiss man! im gonna hold out and catch em headlining roo next year ;D but seriously have fun. i saw some type of thing about them and it seemed like a fun show. little people are always fun!
but its why there are bands like tool, kanye, the police, beastie boys, metallica, etc... keep showing up at fests. to "diversify" with people who spend money. i should purge all negativity from my life and quit using terms like custie. we will see how that goes ;D
Now I don't know about Kanye...
But Tool? Seriously? They are known for some Wal-Mart-brand music that you would call mainstream? We've had this same discussion before, over and over and over. And certainly if you say jam bands represent all genres and yet somehow out of over 100 you can only find two, I guess I can't argue with whatever cloudy logic gets you there. But to keep drumming on about how jam bands are diverse, but there's no room for diversity- (again, as if this festival had been around for more than 6 years)- and then use Tool and Beasties (!) as a shield of populist content... Yikes. And lesse, how many fests for those mentioned bands? Um, not many. Meanwhile JJ and WSP make the rounds. How many fests feature Lesh? Everyone keeps saying how there's plenty of jam fests out there-- so why should Roo compartmentalize and homogenize again?
Roo has changed-- it has become a fest that an even larger segment of music lovers can enjoy. So that the Blues fan can feel comfortable where they might not normally. The Pitchfork kid. The Harp (R.I.P.) loyalist. The Bluegrass fanatic. The metal fan? Still not so much (they have even fewer bands than the jam crowd- they must be PISSED!). But it's still LIGHT YEARS away from a Hannah Montana festival.
And wasn't it "back in the old days" of Roo when William Hung of American Idol showed up? In fact it was in the first three years that TWO American Idol people made an appearance...
well i admit trey should be ashamed of himself for bringing an idol up there. that was wrong and he should be disciplined. i think he has a thing for mainstream posterchilds. matisyahu and an idol. heroin is evil mmm'kay! but i must defend william hungs show. it was one of the most surreal moments of my life to be raging and all out of my head in the campgrounds at roo and have a float with hung singing she bangs come around the corner with a giant mr t float. i thought i had finally gone too far and lost my mind. that and the girl i was with and i had an inside joke about hung. i used to hide his picture in wierd places and she would laugh when she found it and then she would leave them there. so he was part of our everyday life. and to show up at roo. holy shit it was a strain on our brains. so i say bring back william hung!!!
