Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I think I'm going to concentrate on getting quality naps as often as possible instead of focusing on trying to get a good nights sleep.
Me and my buddy bought these battery powered fans, and I just sat that on my lap and lay down in a pool chair and I'd be set. Little shade, a fan and some corn and I'd be napping all day.
I also plan to eat better. I can't be spending $30/day on greasy festival food no matter how many mouthgasms it gives me. I've got to stick to more healthy food that I can bring. Fruit, fruit juices, etc.

-nap in the VIPs A/C tent during the early morning. -gonna pay someone for a message halfway through the weekend. -bring enough water. -don't wait til I'm starving sick to eat. -cut my consumptions of any party favors in two so my stamina has a chance!

I think the biggest thing will be to rest more during the day. My feet felt like bricks during the late-night sets. Also bring a pancho or raincoat. The MMJ show got mighty cold last year without it. Rain at roo is great during the hot days, but not so good at night. Less food and more water.

I am going to bring a chair to sit in during the day. Stood too much during the day, and thus at night, my feet were killing me.
Searching for what I think is the balance between comfort and portability. I saw a couple with some really cool chairs last year, but forgot to write down the brand.
Visit Shakedown this year. Have enough ice that I do not have to buy the expensive stuff.

We got 2 of these for wedding presents and took them last year. It was pretty cool because you could set them up and go get drinks or food and no one would be in your spot when you came back. I am little and really had no problem carrying it around all day. Best wedding present ever!
In the interest of improving our 2009 experience, I have the following thoughts and suggestions.
Problem: Stuffy campsite neighbors. Solution: As it gets closer we need to spend more time on the inforoo website and get info on the VIP inforoo group. Where/When they meet up before going through security. I know we will have more fun with this group around us, or at least near us.
Problem: Not enough music. Solution: This started off w/ my big mistake on Thursday. So no drinking or smoking until we get our camp set up. Secondly, no sleep over Wednesday night. I’ll work 10-6, you work 11- 4, you pick me up w/ my gear, drop me off at work, you go to work, collect whatever else you need after your shift, then pick me up at 6pm. We take our time down, and meet up w/ the VIP inforoo crowd Thursday 8ish. Thirdly, after the lineup is announced we need to come up with a priority list. Must see, Like to see, Check them out, Would be nice, Don’t care. Now we know we can bring food and beverages through VIP security, we can spend more time in Centeroo listening and walking around. Also only for a few shows we sit in the VIP bleachers. More late nights!!!!
Problem: Lack of Roo experience. Solution: More walking around Centeroo. Less VIP bleachers. We need to ride the Ferris Wheel (Thursday/Sunday). We need to walk around GA at least once Friday and/or Sunday night and find Shakedown Street.
Problem: Too much food and too much time dedicated to food. Solution: Once again, my bad, I know and you know I can cook. Bonnaroo’s not about food. We will prepared ahead more and simplify. No big production, unless we find that could be a benefit to the VIP inforoo crowd. We spent $300 on food, $250 on Centeroo beer/food, $50 on ice = $600. If we’re smart, which we know that we are, we can cut that by 2/3. Also we don’t have to bring the big camp kitchen, just a camp stove set up on your folding table, which cuts down on car space. Breakfast – Make banana bread ahead, freeze. Coffee. Fruit salad make Thursday. Lunch/Snacks – Sandwiches, Tater Salad, Trail Mix (take to Centeroo) Dinner – Burgers/Dogs (it’s just a pit stop) Bring frozen gallon jugs of water and Gatorade mix (hydration is key), less ice needed.
Problem: Roo letdown. Solution: Add more time after for decompression. We can find someplace in the mountains for cheap to relax and dial it down Monday night, drive back late Tuesday, local hotel Tuesday night, I’ll work Wednesday afternoon.
I know it’s early, but think we can save money, have an even better time, and meet some people that are “our” friends. It’s a start and feel free to use your Sharpie on it.

If I think it's going to rain, I'm bringing a change of clothes into centeroo with me.
It took me quite awhile in my state during Tiesto to figure out that the WET SHIRT + dress combo I had on (I had put on the shirt to stay warm...haha) was what was keeping me so cold!

Last year was my first Roo and surprisingly we were extremely prepared. I did a lot of research and got a lot of advice from fellow Roo-goers. This year I will NOT waste an entire day waiting in line to get a front row spot! Even though Pearl Jam was awesome, I missed out on an entire day of fun stuff! I will also apply sunscreen prior to getting out of the car to set up the tent. I will wear my bandana over the tops of my ears from the start. I will rent an RV - having a shower and toilet at my disposal mean a lot to me! I will take more pictures. I will not share a bed with John or Dusty.... f*kers punched me in my sleep last year! I will encourage more of my friends to go. I refuse to go with someone who has to be home by Monday morning. I will NOT share my cherry Pop Tarts!! And I will leave my buddies behind and find some new boys to play with!
I won't skip out on the second half of my most anticipated headliner (Pearl Jam), just so I can get a good spot for my most anticipated late-night (Sigur Ros).
In future years, I will do more on Thursday. When I got there, I was so worried about doing too much too early and wearing myself out, that Thursday seems as though it was sort of wasted (kind of like me ). I stayed at camp until like 7:30, and I only caught about two and a half sets of music, plus Zach Galifianakis.

This year we are bringing a tiki bar, LOTS more outside lights for the campsite, some of those nifty hammock chairs and a new EZ-up! We let the future FIL borrow ours right before 'roo last year and it blew away.

This year I plan to stay later on Sunday. We had to leave early the first year because our friends that rode with us were ready to go. Last year we left after Robert Plant/Alison Kraus. My husband wanted to get home so we wouldn't have to wait in line to leave Monday morning. This year I want to stay until it is really over!
-pack 0 beers and instead bring a big plastic jug of vodka.
--bring a shower tent
word of advice on shower tent. Make sure it can actually support the portable shower bag. Last year I purchased a shower tent for the first time in my life, already had the portable shower bag from years past going to different fests and camping. Anyway when I filled the bag (only halfway, mind you) and tried to attached it to the center of the tent the shock poles basically crumbled under the weight. I was pretty bummed indeed having spent $35 on this thing. So what I ended up doing was just putting it on the top of the truck parked near me stripping down and showering off for all to see. Now for me personally this is no big deal. I have no hangups about being naked in front of others and really don't see any problem with it. I'd mainly purchsed the thing because of the close quarters shared by all and more so was avoiding other peoples hangups about nudity. You never know who you are going to be camped next to. This year I will not bother with the tent, still bring the bag and hope the neighbors don't mind when I get in the buff
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."

This year will be my 4th...i have gone with the same 2 friends all three years, and we get better at doing Bonnaroo each year. My ideas....
-Get there early on Thurs!...but not too early!! We were in line at 4 AM and ended in BFE (argghhh this is the only thing we cant seem to get right...first year as noobs we got prime time real estate, like 5 minutes from centeroo at most)
-As everyone has said PACE yourself. I try to not get TOO crazy during the day, so i can go balls out at night...love the nighttime, we totally missed out our first year, because (among other things) we totally didnt think about bringing a shadepiece (essential!!) and we basically got wayyyy to crazy in the hot sun all day, and were exhausted by night...so...in short, take it easy during the day, rage your face off until the sun comes up at night. nighttime is where bonnaroo comes alive. sigur ros and ghostland melted my face last year!!
-Beer...last year was actually the first year we drank to any noticeable degree at bonnaroo...mostly i think, because we were camped next to these hilarious canadians who would get up and start drinking at like 8 AM...Still, i agree with most that its generally too hot to drink at Roo...although i would say, thursday is maybe a good day to drink...as its a little more lowkey, and i tend to want to save the special goodies for the more epic shows on fri/sat (especially nights)
-Glowsticks/costumes...last year i was SUPER jealous of the people with glowsticks at ghostland...was totally unprepared for how awesome glowing things are. this year, were bringing tons(smuggling them into centeroo) and possibly costumes to frolick about in at night
-Do not make unneccessary trips to and from your campsite (especially if you are camped inBFE like we were...it really takes it out of you!
-Probably dont want to wear sandals to centeroo...lot of stress on the feet for 4 days...i personally love sandals, but they were hell on my feet last year.
-Keep a Bonnaroo log or something...my buddies and i just used a spiral notebook to write random crazy stuff on throughout the weekend...start on the roadtrip and write whatever you want. share the duty (and fun) of being the recorder, and put your own touches on your Roo story, so you can share with those who didnt go! our only rule is that once someone has finished a page, it is done, and nobody can go back to look at it until the festival is over. its a cool keepsake, and give you the *warm* bonnaroo feeling when youre really missing the farm!
-Going to bring a guitar, and get my buddy to bring some bongos, and jam out at the campsite
-Last but not least--be communal, be happy, get crazy, lose your mind, find it again, share, explore (inside and out), find a new favorite band (or bands), make friends with your neighboors and all the random people
“Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally upon our planet. Doesn't the idea of making nature against the law seem to you a bit . . . unnatural?” -Bill Hicks
Hmmmm what I will do differently next year? I WILL GO! Last year was the first bonnaroo I missed and I have never been so disappointed as I was last year for the 4 days in June that I belonged on the farm. I definetly had valid reason such as moving and starting a new "grown up job", but i definetly cannot miss this year
I loved my faux-Crazy Creek! Got it from campmor for $7? And I would fold it up and bungee to the outside of my backpack as I didn't want to have a huge pack.
One major one for me is that it's best to catch whole sets, or at least half sets - any less than that, and you kind of cheat yourself.
Friday latenight last year, I was very conflicted like a lot of you, so I decided to split up my time. I saw about 45 minutes of My Morning Jacket, 40 minutes of MSTRKRFT, an hour of Superjam and 30 minutes of Tiesto - I think I would have had a lot more fun if I just chose one or two shows and stuck with them instead of constantly bouncing around. In retrospect, I probably would have enjoyed myself the most if I stayed right where I started the evening, at MMJ.

Embrace it! I let things bring me down way too easily last year....The blisters on my feet. Kanye.....The cold rain all night long while I was trying to have x-tra fun....then at tiesto while standing in the mud puddles, crammed liked sardines....crowd surfers getting dropped on your head coming from behind.. wah! wah! I know I sound like Negative Nancy! So that's why I say this year I will embrace it.
oh man, i'm reading these and laughing. Yes you need to plan well and have all the supplies... but you really just need to GO WITH THE FLOW. That's my only suggestion to you all. I've been to Bonnaroo basically by myself the last 2 years and it's really helped to just go with the flow. I planned on seeing one band but as I was walking by another tent... something caught my ear.
Sit down, relax, enjoy the new tunes, share some corn and strike up a conversation with a new person multiple times a day. Have a jalapeno corn dog. Buy some chocolates/brownies and watch the sunset. take a nap and rest up for the late nights listening to some tunes under a tent, a tree, in your lover's arms... take a 30 minute break and watch something in the cinema tent. Ride the ferris wheel and get off your feet for a few minutes...

One thing I will do different is put only the barest essentials in my bag heading into Centeroo!!!! ast year, I packed wayyyyy too much and it tired me out!

I totally agree. My friend wants a plan for every day. The only thing I want to know is which bands I want to check out and the rest will just fall into place. Do what you want at that minute. Though this is a helpful thread.
