This isn't so much something i'll do DIFFERENTLY this year.......but it's something i've done the last few years that's a good idea:
If you have a backpack.......pack a blanket/sheet to sit/lay on. also put in a sweatshirt and/or pajama pants for later at night if its chilly. The positive of this is that during the day - a backpack filled with a few items of clothing doubles perfectly as a pillow for you to nap on during laid back sets or times you need to relax.
Take a nap everyday! Even if its next to a stage, naps are night savers!
You're so right! I've miss the past few years so I don't know if they still do a cinema tent but if they do then I can tell you from experience that it is the best place to catch a quick nap during the day!

I just thought of something that really really REALLY helped me enjoy bonnaroo more my second go around. After my first few festivals (especially roo 07) I learned one thing:
Expect to be uncomfortable and learn to ignore it. Feeling somewhat like poop (being tired, hot, dirty, hung over) is half of the experience because everyone else is in the same boat. So kick back, relax, and enjoy some tunes because if you're stuck on the little things you'll miss the big thing: the Bonnaroo Experience.
-i will for sure this year go back to the comedy tent despit the lines (went my 1st year and never since) -see the sun come up at least once-ere go NOT eat colored paper at like 10am everyday cause you'll never make it -make it to brunch -buy more bottles of bonnaroo red at the winery on the way in -bring more fruit and pass it around...it's great for a quick pick me up! -ride the ferris wheel...i say it every year but never do -get enough corn so i can bring some home with me....oddly enough good corn is hard to find south of nashville after the roo has gone

if you can handle the smoke, and are 21... the american spirit tent is a great air conditioned place to chill and regroup... bring your id, if you have one.

I'm going to try not to be as curmudgeonly in the mornings this year. Last year I never talked to our neighbors, as I only saw them in the mornings and was all grumpy. It'll be tough, 'cause I'm nocturnal by nature and being awakened by our lovely TN summer sun doesn't help, no matter how much shade there is. I'll try, though!

Put SPF chapstick on. I did a great job of keeping sunscreen on me but forgot to put anything on my lips and ended up with a huge blister on my bottom lip that lingered for weeks.
1. Make sure my boyfriend puts sunscreen on his feet. 2. Take food out of car so that we actually eat it. 3. Buy low chairs for Centeroo, so we can sit comfortably. 4. See bands even if we have no idea who they are. 5. Take lots of pictures.

This year I am definitely going to get into better shape so that I can explore more. It seemed like I was either at my campsite or in Centeroo the entire time and I didn't really venture out anywhere. I will also talk to random people more than last year, it was really a lot of fun doing this. Also, I will make a list of the bands based on how much I want to see them and try to get to as many of the shows as possible. I spent too much time hanging out with some corn and some friends at the campsite last year.
Thanks for the great info. As a soon to be first timer I appreciate it very much.
I've done a lot of Govt Paid camping in years past so I've gained some valuable info.
When it comes to making a portable shower, nothing beats building a tripod/tepee. You need 3 poles, a tarp and twine/rope. It will support a 5 gallon collapsible shower with no problem. If you have the Packing space, cut a wood pallet in half before you leave home. Use this as a floor in the shower and you'll never get muddy. You build one of these and you'll never have to worry about making friends with your neighbors again. Easily loads in a pickup, or on a car with a rack.
Something we will definitely be bringing, is the largest brightest WELCOME mat I can find and fit in the car.
These water gel crystals are cool, put them in a Bandana, then soak in in cold water(cooler water) It stays cooler for a while and wet for ever. As long as it is wet, you can swing it around and it will be cool again. Mira Cool bandannas. Or get a Cooling Ranger Hat.
Dry Ice-if you want to keep something cold/frozen all weekend, make a dry ice cooler. Dry Ice cost about $1.50/lb, check local grocery store, or better to find your local Ice Distributor(Who? find the guy who fills the Ice Coolers with ice bags outside your local Quickie Mart, Hogly Wogly, 7-eleven, CircleK, or any store of convenience.) they will have best deal on Dry Ice. 20 lbs of Dry Ice, only open that cooler once a day, and it will be a freezer for the next four days.
El-wire (electroluminescent wire) this stuff is the best. Bendable Neon wire that you can make into any shape/design/whatever. Durable, battery powered. Glow sticks last one night, are wasteful, and probably not good for mother earth. I bought my first sets of El-wire four years ago and they will be making their second trip to Roo in June. Many places sell it, I got mine from Cool Neon. Do not forget to mention my name Scrog.
Camel Pack, Camelbak, hydration pack, whatever you want to call it, get one!
Drink lots water. Bring more water and less food than what you think you will need. Food is all around and the extra water can help out someone not as prepared as you are.
Just for the record, mentioning Scrog at Coolneon will not get you anything more than a thank you for your purchase. I like free stuff and I am hoping one day I can visit coolneon and say, "hey, I am Scrog." and then Coolneon people be like"Scrog! Who are you? so many people have mentioned you, thanks, here is some free stuff." They could even leave out the thanks. I just want the free stuff. ;D
We always wind up with way more food than we need. When you're planning your food keep the weather in mind, especially if it's going to be really hot. Drink water before you're thirsty and share with others. I suspect the arm may have some additional cooling and water plans after last years tragedy.
I have to remember to get a new tent. Mine is very old and my husband snapped a poll last year.
I forgot about it and showed up to Blue Heron a month later with a broken pole. I was able to make it work for the weekend. But I can't forget this year.
I'm going to miss that tent.
I think other than that we are good. Maybe I'll bring the camp decorations back.
I will def. bring less clothes. I thought I would change a couple times during the day because I was sweaty, but it was too damn hot to peel off clothes in a hot tent. Blah.
Bring more gallon jugs of water. Great way to wake up in the morning.
Venture out on my own more. Did it a couple of times and really enjoyed myself.
Bring a watch. I'm used to having my cell phone (which I don't carry at Roo) and got tired of asking people for the time so I wouldn't miss shows.

I always think that, but then I have issues deciding which dresses to bring so I bring them all.... I think last year I had 8 dresses with me You never know what will fit the mood when you wake up at Roo And I just purchased another one......
- Spend more time at shows. Last year was my first Roo and thinking back, there were only a few concerts that I saw large portions of. Most of my fun was wandering around Centeroo or at camp. I hadn't known what I was getting myself into with Bonnaroo, but now that I've got some experience and know how is, I'll be spending more time taking advantage of this year's awesome lineup.
- Invest in a foldout hammock/bed. I'm going with a big group, so there'll be plenty of tents. However I don't intend on sleeping in a tent at all. Sleeping on an above ground hammock would be pretty prime.
- Along with seeing more shows in general, I want to see more daytime shows. I know the heat will make me think otherwise at times, but the lineup is so stacked with bands I wanna see this year that I have a feeling I'll be spending more of my day in Centeroo.
- Go in the fountain
- Check out the comedy tent
I guess looking back, I realize I didn't experience much of the "main attractions" of Bonnaroo for my first year...it was still the best time of my life though. I was even skeptical about this year possibly being better, but after the lineup dropped and a bunch of friends decided to come along...I couldn't be more excited.

I'll definitely be bringing an air mattress this year to sleep on under my EZ up when it's really hot. I'll bring less food for sure. And I plan to spend way less time at camp and more time exploring Centeroo, meeting new people, and checking out bands I don't know much about.

Yeah I think I brought 7 or 8 dresses last year with me, but I ended up wearing half. I just need to learn to be decisive about what I am going to wear before leaving the house!!
Emergen-C packets - The last time I went to Roo I didn't know what they were, but they are great for putting the vitamins and nutrients back in your body that partying depletes.
Eat more Fruit - Neighbors made fruit salad and shared it, very awesome way to get the day going.
Preplan what you want to do see but don't let that control your trip. Go with the flow you really can't see everything, and some things you might not have thought to do and see are a pleasant surprise.
A blister kit - I will never go to roo again without one.
Introduce yourself to your neighbors on the first day. Worse regret ever is "Man, we should have thought to hang out with them earlier, they were cool".
Tolerate discomfort - get past it and enjoy.
Save a little space in the beer cooler by bring plastic bottles of liqueur.
Nalgene Bottles 32 oz. Bring more than one.
Dry Shampoo - This girl had some, it's great for people who have oily hair for in between washes.
a big bucket to put water in. so I can rinse and clean anything that is needed.

i don't have anything to change this year other than I'm adding fly paper to my pack list after finding myself camped in clover last year and we were covered in flys... i sleep on an open cot under an ez up so they were a little annoying
i lay a tarp down at the campsite under the ez up so we can take our shoes off to walk around... it saves your feet because its the one area of the festival not being trampled over and the terrain can be kind rough at places. I'm a calloused barefoot stumbler anyway but not everyone can do it, i get that
bring an extra tarp, never know when the Sky's going to turn green/grey on ya
freeze gallons of water into ice, drink as it melts and it takes longer for blocks to melt in your cooler
