I'm counting on them to play and I don't even like them. Wait! I have lousy luck. Maybe that'll work out and they won't play. Maybe all my dreams will come true and they'll book Ted Nugent instead. ;D
Also, no one in this thread has specifically mentioned that Trey and Phish are now managed by Red Light Management/Coran Capshaw, who has a rather sizable influence on, and stake in, Bonnaroo.
The business end of things has Bonnaroo/Phish/Capshaw/Musictoday wrapped so tightly around one another that's is laughable when people think their is NO chance of Phish playing Bonnaroo. The creative and logistic people that Bonnaroo hired to design the festival are the exact same people that ran and designed all the Phish festivals. The band members themselves have all been heavily involved with Bonnaroo in the past. It all just makes so much sense.
I was thinking for a while that Phish should just have their own festival at the Roo site next summer, but I think that would probably cut down the ticket sales of Bonnaroo, as some people would definitely skip Roo to see Phish in Manchester instead. On the other hand, Having these two festivals in the same summer would surely add up to far more ticket sales then just having Bonnaroo. But having Phish AT Bonnaroo would be a coup for AC/Superfly and they could reinforce their claim to being the biggest and baddest festival around.
This is a FAR more likely scenario than Rothbury scoring Phish. I highly doubt that would happen. In addition, Phish's summer tour is sure to be promoted by Live Nation, and I'm sure LN wouldn't want Phish to be playing an AEG festival (Rothbury). Who knows though...
Thanks for ACTUALLY injecting some reality into this thread.
na dont get your hopes up too much mrflannery, my friend who works at higher ground in burlington overheard people talking backstage after the mgb show. basically joking about how phish was gonna play roo but they wouldnt have enough time for kuroda to take down his lights before the kanye set, or something like that.
