And if VIP is anything like last year (packed everyone into smaller spaces) It will be a royal waste of money. Especially considering my buddies snuck into VIP every night.
I would think with the economy the way it is, they wouldn't raise the prices so much, and would include the food. I have really been disappointed in Superfly the last two years. I thought last year's VIP was a waste of money.

The only major benefit to VIP is the time-saving elements, such as the separate entrance, close proximity to the stages, and the ability to by-pass the lines. From what I understand, the food wasn't even very good.
This is an obvious rip-off, and really frustrating. Over the years it has become more and more apparent that the festival is more concerned with making money than the overall satisfaction of the attendees.

To each their own, but rather than paying $1350 for a pair, if I had the money, I would MUCH rather just buy 4 extra tix for my friends who can't afford to go instead
I did the VIP thing last year, the food was not great, but it was edible. Really the proximity and short times to get into centeroo was the big attraction. Oh and the viewing mound by the big stage, it was nice to be able to chill without a big crowd.
I have gone to 3 Roo's, the last two I went VIP. The VIP just simply doesn't seem worth it anymore and I will never go back to GA, so this makes my decision pretty easy this year. I'm done.

Also... and I hope I'm not jinxing it... but the last 3 years, no matter when I got there, I've always been lucky enough to camp directly behind The Other Tent ,about a minute or two from the ferris wheel entrance
That shit is really whacked! Unless I suddenly become rich, I guess my Roo days are over as well. Pay $1350 and THEN pay for food?!?! It would be cheaper to book a room in Manchester and walk to the farm every day. 10K Lakes is looking better and better.

^^^My wife had a bad experience in GA went she went with friends in '05. I wont bore you with details here. Anyway, she swore off GA from that point on. We'll discuss it, but the chances are slim. And I can't go by myself. I'd get myself in trouble. ;D
The only reason to do VIP is for Proximity anymore, and I just don't see spending that much for proximity. Even with VIP, I found myself waiting in some lines to get in.
They are "selling" meal packages in VIP. Is this a joke? What exactly does VIP get you anymore?
Having done VIP for the last 3 years I can honestly say the food being removed is a non-issue for me. The food was typically lack luster, short supplied, or just not worth the wait. The cost increase (or lack of a decrease) is painful but not enough to deter me away from purchasing the VIP package again this year. The camping location, ease of access to and from centeroo, and the fact that the time from check-in to setting up camp was less than 30 minutes the last 2 years makes it worth the extra cost to me. The free showers and upgraded bathrooms don't hurt even though they really don't offset the additional cost. The only thing that has really changed for me is that I will not be buying tickets early. I need to see a legit lineup before I can commit in 2009. If the lineup isn't stellar I will have to take a long look at Rothbury as I only get one festival (my one vacation) I can attend each year.
My spot was half the size last year as it was the year before. Since they increased the size of VIP, the walk still ended up being a pain in the rear. It did not feel exclusive or special last year at all.

the vendor who sells garlic grilled cheese for a buck would disagree. does anyone love that garlic grilled cheese as much as me? I mean i make it @ home all the time, but it never tastes right. i can agree w/ the issue of proximity even though I was camped (Drago) pretty close to Centeroo. showers? yes, real cutesy and all, but do other festivals other then foo-foo Coachella make luxury out of showers? that is a real expensive price, but people will pay it and the global moderator will endorse it.
I was simply answering his question of "what does VIP get you" People will either bitch and moan about it OR if they can afford it and decide it is worth it to them, they will pay it. It's real simple. I endorse it because I am tons more comfortable there. I have been in both a number of years. It has nothing to do with being a global moderator.......
It makes my decision so much easier this year. I'm done. Last year VIP SUCKED compared to the year before. And my friends were able to sneak in anyway. So I assume it will only continue to go down hill. Only now it's a bigger price jump and no food. Cool.
This seems to be the biggest problem around here. Guess somethings never change. Did I mention that it is most certainly an individual choice as to the price to value? I have a hard time making my mind up for myself sometimes, let alone trying to convince an entire board that something does indeed suck......see the rest of you in VIP. That is, if YOU think it is worth it.

Hmmm - have never been VIP but if I had the money - we would go VIP - just for the proximity - but that is just us - Boz and I had already decided that we would do VIP if we won the lottery.
^^ there ya go! That's the spirit. You decided for yourself without using snide quips about being a 12 year old girl or that somehow people are bound to an opinion due to their affiliation with this board. This might catch on!!!!! ;D

wait - I decided that based on the endorsement of a global moderator. That and my long time standing on this board. After all - it is solely because I have been on this board as long as I have that I want to go VIP - all the cool kids go VIP and I wanna be just like them
Well, the no food aspect doesn't deter me, but since I'm getting less for my money in VIP, I too will be waiting to see the lineup before buying. Whatever they plan on charging for the VIP food, I'm positive anyone could manage to spend less without either starving or having to cook it all yourself.
I ended up in a much smaller space last year than the year before, too. I know for certain I wasn't in one of the should-have-been-an-RV-spot areas from the VIP parking fiasco of 2007; my spot was just markedly smaller this year. Could be that some areas (but not others) got a little short-changed in how they drew the lines.
