Personally I hope C&C doesn't pan out, because it seems rather unlikely that both them and TMV would be booked. And I'd prefer TMV a hundredfold.
i don't know about that. they're not really the same style at all, even though they do share lots of fans. tmv is more of a late night show, they already played one. coheed would probably be in a tent in the middle of the day, like mastodon was. but if i had to choose between the 2, i would pick tmv.

Meshuggah is touring North America in 2009, though they've not announced dates beyond February. They would be an incredible metal band to see live, though.

I really enjoyed the sets by The Sword and Mastodon last year. Metallica disappointed me (but I've seen Metallica over a half dozen times, starting with the Master of Puppets tour). I used to sing in metal bands, produce metal 'zines, and I was a metal d.j. So, metal bands that I would love to see play Bonnaroo (and who might be good fits for Bonnaroo): Wolves In The Throne Room, Krallice, Nine Inch Nails, Opeth, Isis, Pelican, Neurosis, Deadchild, Saviours, Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Soulfly, Tomahawk, The Melvins, Big Business, Faith No More, Dillinger Escape Plan, Danzig, Voivod, Darkthrone

Oh yeah: Ace Frehley would be great at Bonnaroo and so would some of the doom metal bands like Sunn O)))), Sleep, Cult of Luna, Earth... the doom would especially be great for a late night set. Also, they may not be considered metal by many standards, but The Black Angels sound very much like metal live and would slay during a late night set.
I'd avoid Coheed and Cambria at all costs... I really can't stand that band.
Only similarities I see in TMV and C&C are the high pitched vocals (except Cedric actually has depth and range in his voice), faster playing, ridiculous concepts, nerdy prog...
So, yeah, I can easily see the comparisons... on a face value level. Once you delve further into their respective music, TMV has much more going for it.
Also, I've said it here and there over the past few years, but I'd really like to see Skinny Puppy in a late night tent... not metal at all, but definitely a heavy act, they are right in tune with Bonnaroo's political/social/environmental ideal and one hell of a concert, at that.
They are one of few very extreme acts that don't bring along inevitable morons and meatheads, and I bet many would enjoy it. We'd just have to ween Rooheads slowly away from their more mellow soundscapes on the farm; like, one year bring Squarepusher, the next Aphex Twin, next thing you know, Roo is more or less ready for something the level of Skinny Puppy.

I havent seen them since they had painted faces (twice also) and they were good then, I figured they would've stayed the same if not stepped it up the last couple years.. sucks to hear that about them, ill have to Youtube their newer shows and see
i'd clap my hands to a hatebreed circle pit wrapping around the fountain
I've seen Hatebreed live over a half dozen times and I've been to dozens of hardcore concerts. I don't think that Hatebreed would necessarily translate phenomenally at Bonnaroo, but I have to give it to Hatebreed that they emanate some magic live and I've witnessed some really unified and energized crowds at Hatebreed shows (especially when playing at festivals like Sounds of the Underground). The pure endurance of Bonnaroo does not really seem condusive to moshing. There was a smattering of moshing during Metallica, but overall I think that people would rather dance instead of mosh. Also, a pit near the fountain would be dangerous as hell. There are few things more dangerous than a moshpit with a wet floor.
I could see an interesting pit developing if The Mars Volta played, though.

I used to like Hatebreed quite a bit, but anymore they just don't do it for me. Now Kingdom of Sorrow....different story. Jamey Jasta & Kirk Windstein...yeah buddy.
Yeah, thats old school there. I was never a fan really. Kirk is what really sells me on Kingdom of Sorrow, actually, anything with Kirk, Down, Crowbar, KOS....Kirk Windstein can do no wrong.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I saw them last night with Emmure and Unearth. Fricking ridiculous, out of hand, and phenominal. I would in no way be opposed to seeing them again at Roo.
But Isis announced their new CD is coming out May 5th...so that made me think that there's a bigger chance of them being there...or it's wishful thinking ;D
