Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hey gang! First off, we decided just to have a thread dedicated to Camp Inforoo instead of having its own sub-forum.
For those of you that are not familiar with Camp Inforoo, we set camp in the tent only area (no cars are allowed in the tent only area) located near by Centeroo (where all the action takes place). Now you may be asking who can camp @ Camp Inforoo...the answer is anyone If you are interested in camping with us just post it here and we shall put you on the list so we know how many people to expect to be camping with us.
Besides Camp Inforoo, there is a brunch on Friday that is open to everyone on the board and their friends .
Let's start getting a phone list together to help people find the campsite (being on the list is completely optional), fire an email to me at rooguide {at} gmail {dot} com (replace the at and dot, yada yada...) with;
* your name/board name (or both) * your estimated arrival time in Manchester. I'm looking for generalities here, i.e. about 2pm on Thurs. If you are planning on being part of the WalMart meetup, let me know that as well. If you have no idea when you will arrive but still want to be on the list, that's fine too. * your cell phone #. This is only useful if you will actually HAVE your phone with you on the way to roo and are planning of having it turned on. If you want to give more than 1 number (you and someone you're going with) that's fine too. This # will be shared with the other people on the call list. * anything about your own personal weirdness you want to share, i.e. "I'll be the 7 foot tall, one legged pirate looking guy dressed in a monk's robe smelling like patchouli with Mickey Mouse ears on." This part is optional (but fun)
I'll send the phone list to the email address you used to give me the info. If you want to be on the list, please email me the info by Fri (June 5th) evening or Sat morn at the latest. I'll put the list together over the weekend and fire it off on Monday. For those of you camping with us look for a flag with a picture of a baby on it around the NE corner of what should be Camp Adrian. Can't wait to see everyone in a week!
Hey everyone! Well, it looks like I'm going to make it to 'roo and Jay has graciously allowed me to take back some of my old Camp Inforoo (CIR) organizing duties so I'm going to be giving him a hand here getting things set up. A couple of things right off the bat
EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Even if you've never posted, please feel free to join us. This is absolutely a case of "the more the merrier"!
We will try to stake out as much space for everyone as we can at the site, but reserving camping spaces for people has never really worked out that well. Don't worry too much about getting a spot, even if you can't set up your tent right in the middle of CIR, you're more than welcome to drag your chair/cooler/sunshade/whatever over.
We'll work out a list of things that people can bring. The first thing that comes to mind is sunshades/shelters. Also probably camp tables would be useful, the past couple of years all we've had are my ActionPackers. Keep an eye on this post or Jay's original post for more about this and feel free to suggest/offer other stuff
As Jay mentioned, the brunch planning is still in its own thread. Camping in CIR is not definitely required to join the brunch.
Please feel free to ask any questions or let us know if you're going to be there. We'll work on where the camp will be later but it'll probably be near where it was last year.
UPDATE: Well, I realized I hadn't really introduced myself, just assuming everyone would know me (how's that for arrogant?). I'm Leo, I've been going to 'roo since '04 and I also wrote the Bonnaroo Survival Guide. I started the first Camp Inforoo in '05, back then it was actually the "Bonnaroo Listserv Camp" and it was just me and two other people. The next year I moved it over here and it just exploded. After '06 I got a bit burnt out and Jay has been organizing CIR since.
OK, so a couple of thoughts for CIR improvements. First off, we need more sunshades. I think we had 2 last year, couldn't really keep many people out of the sun. So if people want to bring something for the campsite, something like tinyurl.com/bbu5ah would be great. It doesn't need to have screen sides like that one, last I checked there were cheaper ones in store. Also a couple of folding camp/card tables would be nice. I think everyone got sufficiently annoyed when every 30 min I had to clear everyones stuff off of my trunks/coolers when I needed to get something. So if you know you can bring something, either post it in this thread or send me a PM and I'll start getting an idea of what we have and need.
Something that has come up before and caught me by surprise the first time is people being offended or put out by the greeting they get at the camp. Just about everyone at the camp is happy to welcome people in, but sometimes people don't get a huge reception when they first show up. A couple of things play into this.
1. Everyone (even a veteran) is meeting a lot of new people in a short amount of time. This can lead to new person fatigue and sometimes I don't realize that I haven't met someone before and don't introduce myself or others to the newcomer properly, don't be offended, introduce yourself.
2. The person you talk to might be really tired (drove all night from who knows where, waited in line on the interstate for 4 hrs, and then hauled all their stuff to the site) or under the influence of something (or both). Don't be offended if you just get monosyllables out of someone.
3. Maybe the person you are talking to really is a dud. Most everyone here is a cool dude/dudette, but you never know, so in that case you can be offended, for a second, but then let it go.
On a somewhat related note, there always winds up being a core group of people that seem to be around the main CIR chillout area a lot of the time. That's cool, but everyone is still ALWAYS welcome. Don't feel like because you haven't been there every second you aren't at a show that you have any less right to be there. Grab an empty chair, drag one of your own over if there isn't one, shoot the shit, bring Leo a beer, whatever, just make yourself part of the group. Even if you're not camping with us, if you see the flag (we'll work out the details of that later), come on over and see if anyone is hanging out. Then sit you ass down and socialize. Too many people stop by and say "I saw the flag, and wanted to say hi. Ummm, bye", CIR is for everyone. I've had people who had never even been to Inforoo.com, recognize the flag from the Guide and hang out for an hour or two and talk. And that my friends is what Bonnaroo is all about.

I would love to camp at InfoRoo. I just have a couple of questions since I've never gone Tent-Only. When you first go in the festival do you tell them you are going to Tent-Only or do you just head there once you park? I was just wondering if there is a designated Tent-Only parking area that we should park in. And do they let you drop stuff off at Tent-Only before you park or do you have to haul all your stuff there on foot?

You park along with everyone else, unfortunately you can't drop your stuff off before parking. You could be as close as 2 min walk from tent only, you could be 30+ mins away. I have a couple of wheeled coolers that work well to move stuff, I've seen people use children's wagons, luggage type carts, etc. Look forward to seeing you, slumberjack and everyone else there!

Also - last year there were golf carts actings as taxi's - not sure when they started but I thought someone mentioned that they had paid 5 bucks and got all their gear to tent only in one trip

I'm sure there are plenty here who lerk on inforoo and then come to bonnaroo and tent in camp inforoo. I seem to do the opposite every year. I show up on this board always and then lerk in tent only somewhere come Roo time. I never really know where camp inforoo is, but I know iv'e walked passed many of you awesome peeps and thought to myself... I bet I 'virtually' know that person.
not sure if we'll be camping with ya'll (gotta get my ya'lls ready for June ), but I'm going to make a point to at least drop by and introduce myself. I barely met any new people last year and I'd like that to change this year. Festivals are way more fun when you're running into people you know everywhere you go.
I am not sure yet whether i will be catching a ride down and doing tent only, or if I will be renting a car and camping next to it.
If i do end up in tent only, I'd really like to set up with you guys! I will going solo so it'll be nice to have friends, albeit new ones
Katy... you will DEFINITELY catch a ride... don't worry about that! So don't waste your $$ on a rental car... save it for other Roo gear. And... I am planning doing the Camp Inforoo thing... sounds like the most fun way to go for a solo Rooer like myself...

it's not a matter of money really, i haven't completely decided what i want to do yet! I still don't know if tent-only is for me, but i'm leaning toward it.

I'm offically headed down to Roo for just the second time, first since 06, and I'm going with my mom! Should be a blast....she's a huuuuge Bruce fan, so I told her there's no way she can miss his performance at Bonnaroo....I know I'm glad I got to see my music obsession, Radiohead here.
We're in the early planning stages and I'm trying to talk her into Camp Inforoo, but she's not sure about being away from her car. I'm sure I'll be able to talk her into it though. One of my regrets from my last trip was not taking the time to meet some of you guys and I know if I don't camp there the same could happen this time. And I'm sure I owe at least a couple people beers for random sports bets I've made over the last few years, or fantasy football seasons I've lost
That said, don't add me to the list quite yet, but hopefully I'll be able to confirm it soon!

If I go solo or with fellow Inforoosters then I will be there. However, if my friends join again this year I think I'll stick with them but will definitely stop by during the brunch.

We don't want no stinkin wolverines at camp inforoo! I am 90% sure I will be back at cir, so you can put me on the list. Good to see some new names on there.

Ok, so that was easy enough, put me on the list please!
And Ziggy, I promise I'll keep my bragging about UM's basketball national championship to a minimum....assuming they, you know, actually make the tournament for the first time in a decade!
