This will be my second 'Roo, and I turned 40 in September. I am looking so forward to a great weekend with awesome people. Bonnaroo is an amazing place.
I am headed to Roo for the first time at 67 just yesterday. Missed Woodstock and spent the last 44 years raising 13 kids. Now it is my time to enjoy life. I am coming with an RV from just north of NYC.. Can i get a heads up on the best time to arive? If the gait opens at 7pm when does a line start forming? Do they let people in all night? What ever i am excited about this trip see you all then Mod13
YOU are awesome! Are you bringing all the kiddies with you? LOL I wish I could answer your questions, but I'm a newbie at 53 and volunteering. I do believe they let people in all night though after the flood gates open.

Yep! Once the gates open, they let people in all night long! Pod 1 (B.F.E.) is one of the first areas they fill up so the volunteers get a front row spot to watch the procession. Nothing better than pulling up a chair enjoying the show. It's the wildest sight to see folks coming in and setting up tents at 4am in the morning.
At 42, I would not consider myself an "old hippie" but if that means someone 35+ who enjoys camping out for 8 days as pre-fest volunteer and soaking in the Bonnaroo experience, I'll take it!
So I guess I fit in to this thread. Turned 35 last fall and his will be my first Roo. Going with my 14 year old daughter, not sure who is more excited. Just the two of us and we do lots of camping/vacations together, hopefully this will be at the top of both our lists for years to come and be the first of many more Roos. I would love to volunteer, but then she wouldn't be able to come with me. Maybe in a few years when she is old enough we can volunteer together, unless by then I am no longer cool enough to be seen with!

My hubby and i will be making the trek for the first time this year. I am 51 and he is 59....a little apprehensive but then i think F it!!!! this is going to be a freaking blast!!!!!!
I don't consider myself old, but i guess If I'm old enough to be some of these posters mom- I guess I am. This will be my first festival in a decade and I'm bringing my 16 year old.
Awesome! Thanks for the responses! I am 53 and making my first Roo appearance as well. I am only 70 miles down I-24 and figured what the crap.... This world famous event is so close I've gotta see it first-hand for myself at least once. Even though I'm not a drinker, I do love music and think this will be FUN! I'm volunteering- working on the Comedy Tent Croo - so that could be fun seeing a little bit of the festival from up close and personal.
I'm 59 on paper, 19 in my heart. This is my second Roo, VIP, and I'm bringing my 3 daughters.
Party on, and be forever young.
BTW, the last festival I did before my first Bonnaroo was the Dead/Band/Allman Brothers at Watkins Glen. 600,000 people, no bathrooms, no food, no tickets, and i hitch hiked 600 miles there and back without so much as a sleeping bag. bonnaroo is like a five star luxury hotel in comparison.
I am 55 and my husband is 59 and we do enjoy our afternoon cocktail...however, this is number 8 Bonnaroo for us and we really don't indulge when we are at festivals, to much to see and do and I don't want to miss a thing. I believe most older people understand the whole pace yourself concept...I think it's called experience. A couple years ago we were sitting on the viewing stage at What and it was 112 degrees..Hot! I'm from the true south (Key West) and all I wanted was a 12 pack of water!, and I had it with me.

OMG... I'd love to hear more about that! What year was that? No bathrooms? That must have been interesting! My other festivals were the very first Alabama band June Jam in 1981 and some Willie Nelson/Charlie Daniels/Oak Ridge Boys thing in Crossville, TN, in the 80's. Nothing like this though. I live an hour from the Roo farm, so I know all about TN heat and humidity and I've spent this same week in June the past 8 years in Nicaragua, outside all day in that heat and humidity, though I always had a comfy hotel bed at night.

I'm still around too like a bad penny. One day there won't be pennies (:.... We are starting to pack for Wakarusa then we have to kill some times in country just goofing off till the Roo. I need a vacation!!! Well we did just get back from Coachella and I don't work, so a small vacation ? cr****
I'm 37. This will be my first Roo. Spent my the last few years having a couple kids and getting them to an age to where they are pretty self sufficient. Coming with my husband who is 36, my sister who is 40 and her husband who is 41. All first timers. If Bonnaroo had been around pre makin babies Id of been there every year. I don't feel old in the least not do I look it but I am a hippie. All time does is make us wiser and know how to have even more fun. Can't wait to see all my fellow "over 35 hippies" this year!
First-time attendee here, turned 45 two weeks ago. My son wanted to go, and his mom insisted someone go with him, then looked at me. At the moment, I think I am more excited about the trip than he is.
