i think it would be more fair to just include all 7 losers in a poll and let people vote the one that gets to advance to the next round. from then on it would be even. 8-4-2-1.

so, when is the voting on the matchups up now going to be closed?
I'm gonna wait until tommorow to see if I get any new posters, cause that's when the original date to get them in was, and then if there's no new ones, I'll close voting for now. I actually don't have my poster up, school's been hell, so I'll have that up soon. We can vote on the Wild Card on Tuesday. My dad's birthday is tommorow, and I start work on Monday, so you'll have to bear with me on all this.

I might recommend reducing the number of festies that go into Wild Card voting to the 2-4 that do best in the first round. That way, we don't end up with any one fest in particular that can be considered the 'loser'.

I don't understand this. It seems like there would be just one "winner" from the wildcard round, rather than one "loser".

Yeah, but then we have one or more bands that score low in the poll and come out as the big losers of the competition. It's just not worth throwing them all in there, when outside of the top three or four, none of the others really have a very good chance at all. The field's crowded enough if you look at those that would be in it, even if we limit it - beyond that, there just isn't even room in this poll for the others.
I think we should still include all 7. The message of "Your festival wasn't even good enough to make the poll" seems a lot worse than "Your festival lost by x votes". Besides, that seems like the only fair way.

^^^I agree, if I were in this competition I would be way more offended to be told "you don't even have a realistic chance anyways so we're not even gonna consider you" than if I were simply given the risk of finishing on the bottom.

^Makes more sense that way. Plus the first round had some awesome candidates that went head to head against equally awesome candidates so I would like to see them all have a chance...

Couldn't any of us post the poll at any time? I'd be willing to include all seven.
I don't want to violate FightForYourMind's authority, as he's done a good job so far. But pending a response from him, we should consider moving this forward.

i think he held back his own poster and was waiting for someone to go up against. i guess no one else has submitted a poster, so i don't know where we go from here?

Hey guys, I'm so sorry I haven't kept up with this. I've had so much going on lately. I'm going to drop out of the festival, and along with suspendedzen, post mine after the contest. When I'm not here for a period of a day or so, I think it's best that someone take over for me. I actually have to go, and I didn't even read all of your responses, but choose amongst yourselves who that should be. Hopefully, I'll be back on thursday? (pending on going out with my friends) or the weekend. I just started work, so I have absolutely no free time to get on the computer. I go to school and go straight to work until late night. Again, sorry about all this confusion, and I hope it'll sort itself out.
I haven't recieved any other posters since i posted the seven matches, so if I do, I'll let you guys know ASAP.
ok. i will try to help. we had 7 match ups in the 1st rd. with only 5 clear winners. there was 1 tie and another contest was only won by 1 vote. so somehow we need to get it to an even number of participants for the next rd. the 5 clear winners automatically advance. what do we do about the others?
the bracket syzygy - 1 seed (40 votes) great lake - 2 seed (39 votes) island in the sky - 3 seed (36 votes) strawberry springs: - 4 seed (31 votes) monarch - 5 seed (30 votes)
wild card round shadowlands, rust belt, calidonia, and custie fest. everyone votes on two, with the top three taking the 6, 7 and 8 seeds.
figure out a way to deal with ties in the future and let's get this tournament started! or something else if anyone has a better idea.
Hmm, I think we should include some others in the wild card round. While custie fest did well, there are some other posters that are better than it that aren't included in the wild card round. If you are going to have a wild card round, at least give posters who had a tough first match, Kamp Krusty comes to mind, a chance against some other posters. Maybe we should just figure out a way to deal with the ties, than include all the losers in a wild card round, than we could get eight in the second round, which seems like the best way to handle the second round.
I don't know, I think if you're going to do a revote, at least include everyone. Maybe we can find a tiebreaker for that round, since one wasn't set, maybe we could have the mods vote on the tie? That seems like the only way to handle it without people getting pissed. Than we can include everyone in a wild card round.

Was the voting of the first round officially closed? I only ask because it appears that Calidonia has gained another vote since the debate of what to do started. Monarch and Krusty got some late action too, but that wasn't really any significance... but votes are still being made?

it was supposed to be closed. but it's still open for voting. we can't make people stop voting. calidonia and custie are tied again though.
I still think the best idea to get the wild-card winner would be to include all 7 "losers" in one poll and have the public choose the best one. That way we end up with 8. If we wait too long to do this, I think people will lose interest.

yea but the problem arose because 2 of the matches tied. calidonia/custie and rust belt/shadowlands are currently tied. the longer we leave it open the more it is confusing what to do.
