MMJ and Trombone Shorty? Seriously, they have to set a major clash for all 3 headliners? Most of it ain't too bad, but seriously. Headliners are headliners.
I really hope that the times change. They've got MGMT 5:30, Deadmau5 6:15, MMJ 7:00 all on sunday! I guess I'm going to be doing a lot of running around.
THIS!
Also, the Weezer, Hot Chip, Galactic, Muse overlaps. >.<

Yup. Heck, with this kind of real motivation for bitchitude about scheduling conflicts, let's not forget that Widespread Panic will be conflicting with all of the headliners and the headliner conflicts on the other side of town, lol. Seriously, it's a little ridiculous. Someone please remind me about this when I start whining about the scheduling conflicts at roo next year?
Muse and Jonsi at the same time? that's ridiculous, those are the only 2 bands i want to see on friday (the only day i can make it)
i've seen muse once, Sigur Ros once... but Jonsi in an enclosed tent (Bingo tent) is going to be the winner, than catch the end of muse afterwards, i guess

Did Dr. John drop out? They don't mention him at all anymore
The Voice of the Wetlands featuring Tab Benoit, Cyril Neville, George Porter Jr, Waylon Thibodeaux, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux and Johnny Sansone were founded in 2005 when some of Louisiana's most prominent musicians got together and produced a benefit CD for the Voice of the Wetlands non-profit organization. The loss of South Louisiana's wetlands is a serious environmental problem, contributes to the loss of the musicians' unique culture, heritage and livelihood and was made even worse by the destruction from Hurricane Katrina. The New York Times states that "If one band had to encapsulate [the 2009 New Orleans] Jazzfest, it might well be the Voice of the Wetlands All-Stars, an improbable cooperative with a cause." The Wetlands All Stars features Grammy nominated guitarists Tab Benoit, youngest Neville Brother Cyril Neville, singer and guitarist Anders Osborne, Johnny Sansone, "Louisiana's Rockin' Fiddler" Waylon Thibodeaux, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux of the Mardi Gras Indian tribe, the Golden Eagles.
lordrockinghood, dr john is playing with the voice of the wetlands allstars and they play at 4pm on sunday on the soco stage
overall, its as to be expected for a festival: all the acts you want to see play late and at the same time. but i have to admit i am happy to see that i can at least see a large portion of mgmt, deadmau5 and mmj. they could have scheduled them all at the same time if you think about it. at least this way we can see them in portions, or all of mgmt and all of mmj. i saw deadmau5 at roo, but my lady is going nuts to see him and she doesnt care about mmj, so im compromising by letting her see enough of him after mgmt to where she is ready to let me "drag" her to mmj.. women..
my biggest conflict is weezer and hot chip.. i really wanted to see hot chip. and even though i saw weezer at roo, she has never seen them and they are one of "our" bands so we have to see their set.
no one should forget the krewe of boo parade in the quarter as well on saturday if you aren't impressed by voodoo's sat lineup!!
personal preliminary lineup (im waiting to look deeper into the smaller acts til after today): Friday: 2:15 stanton moore trio 3:30 innerpartysystem 4:30 dead confederate/ 5 kaskade 6:15 crookers/ 6:30 metric 7:45 weezer {no hot chip } 9 muse/ 9:15 jonsi
Saturday: 2:15 treme brass band 3:30 rebirth 4 the whigs 5 cage the elephant 6 florence and the machine KREWE OF BOO IN HERE SOMEWHERE (might miss cage and florence) 9 ozzy/ 9:30 eagles of death metal
Sunday:12:15 white rabbits 1:15 janelle monae 2:15 minus the bear 3:15 airborne toxic event 4 voice of the wetlands 5:30 mgmt 6:15 deadmau5 7 mmj

Ugh. These scheduling conflicts suck. Can't see all of MGMT. But the real one that hurts is that I'll be missing Jonsi.
And it sucks because early day Friday is so barren. Saturday too. Sunday is the only day thats jam packed for me
Anyways, my preliminary schedule Friday Explore place/Find random bands>Rusko>Innerpartysystem>Kaskade>food/restroom>Metric>Weezer>Muse
Saturday Cage the Elephant>Florence/Die Antwoord> Drake>Street Sweeper Social Club/Crystal Method>Ozzy
Sunday Jonathan Tyler>White Rabbits>Janelle Monae>Minus the Bear>Airborne Toxic Event>Interpol>30-45 mins of MGMT>Deadmau5>End of MMJ
Saturday Morning I may just sleep in. I'll try to see O'Brother based on suggestion, maybe check out random DJs in the dance tent, I dont know. Or try to find a new band I like. I'll figure it out.
Jonsi really needs to be switched with someone else in the bingo parlor or like rapheal saadiq or paperboy reed
The Royal We of course....sigh. But I guess it wouldn't be a festival worth a crap if it didn't have some conflicts but....OUCH!
My schedule will have to be created on the fly at the festie. Just too much hype right now. I need to get on the ground and see what's happening before I decide....

My schedule will be something like this. Sunday night is the only night the conflicts will really affect me. Every other conflict I can deal with, I just have to choose not to see a local band that I can see any other time.
Friday stage hop during the day>Big Sam's Funky Nation>Happy Talk>Kaskade>Crookers>Metric>Soul Rebels>Hot Chip>Jonsi
Saturday Big Rock Candy Mountain>Boys Noize>Rebirth>My Name Is John Michael>Crystal Method>Paul Van pier
Awesome! I don't know anyone else who knows of Cut Chemist. I had to call the college radio station when I heard "The Garden" on the way to work one day. Love that track, sounds so much like Thievery Corporation. Can't wait to see him live.
Sadly, I will not be able to attend this year due to family issues. I am selling my ticket here below face value at $125; paypal only. Please message me if you are interested. In a few days I will put this on craigslist/ebay.
Ya, definitely choosing Jonsi in a tent over beginning of Muse. Although, if they do play 'Map of the Problematique' I'm gonna hate myself, but quack it. Saturday isn't too bad, and Sunday is fine up until MGMT/deadmau5 of course. Thinking the same as everyone else pretty much on these conflicts.
Kaskade is cool, but seeing Cut Chemist will be too awesome, and then Boys Noize the next day/night. Going to be a great weekend....
As a last note, I saw LCD in Atlanta this past Monday night. They started off with 'Dance Yrself Clean', just as they did at V-Fest, and it was just too amazing. Too bad they're not coming to New Orleans :-(.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Yaay indeed! Got my press confirmation tonight...watch out Jim James....I'll be in the pits snapping away furiously to get our resident Shreveport Librarian some great photos! ;D LOL!
It looks like now that the Press Creds have definitely come through that I will have one extra Early Bird ticket that I need to sell at face value (or maybe even a little under for one of my dear Inforoosters) that is still in need of a ticket...or just makes a last minute decision to head to NOLA and join us! *hint hint*
PM me or message me on Facebook if you are interested.

I wish Jonsi was in the tent on Saturday night. I would have gladly gone. But as a huge Muse fan Friday night sucked. I still kinda wish he was in the tent earlier in the day, but I'm fine with the main stage, beats the Muse conflict.
