love the new change. we now have to somehow convince them to fix the weezer vs. hot chip conflict and i'll be perfectly satisfied. i'm really getting into hot chip but weezer is one of me and my fiancee's bands so we're going to watch all of them.. only 15 minutes of hot chip
my friend and I are looking for a place to stay still. We'll get our own hotel if we have too of course, but if somebody has some other options, let me know! Already did Roo and ACL this year, and just purchased voodoo tix at the last minute!

Gonna try to do the Eagles of Death Metal show. As for the rest I'm gonna wait to see what official aftershows get announced.
Gaaah only two weeks I can't wait.
Also, I finally got around to listening to Okonokos. And I'm in love. I'm even more excited.
Though it makes the MGMT/Deadmau5/MMJ conflict even worse, but meh, what can you do. I'm gonna do 30-45 minutes of MGMT, all of Deadmau5, then run as fast as I can' to catch the last 1hr15m of MMJ

So, I just endorsed Gravity A a few posts above. But I need to re-recommend them. I've been a fan of theirs for awhile but I just saw them last night for the first time since earlier this summer. I don't know what happened but somehow they got even better.
They busted out Tribulation's bass line in the middle of a jam last night...so sick
Do we know what time the set starts on Sunday night? It's at Blue Nile right and the Dead Kenny G's are also playing? I'm sure it will be packed, Blue Nile always is! Does anyone have more detailed info on this show? I really am interested in it, but don't want to just show up down there and get into a cluster you-know-what and end up not getting in or missing half the show because of logistics and a whole mess of issues....I love the venue, Love the performers and know it will KILL if you can squeeze in and get there and get settled before the show starts. I just don't have enough details or connections to know I can do that yet.... Any info, suggestions, hints or secret inside knowledge will be most greatly apprectiated! ;D
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Just got word that a lot of the techno acts are going to let photographers shot from the pit for their whole sets! ;D
THAT will make it a lot easier for us to get shots with all the conflicts! YAAY for the enlightened approach....I hope it catches on! (Well there WAS the stipulation about security precautions being abided etc.... but it will be fine of course! )

because of jonsi not playing at the same time as muse, i figured it'd be worth the drive to nola for 2 bands.... i've been to voodoo twice for all 3 days and was disappointed with the sound both times.... but jonsi and muse are just too much to pass on
so only going for friday night, and probably gonna have to get a room in slidell afterwards, too late to find a cheap room in nola

The website says the show is for 10pm, and you can't buy tickets online. I'm thinking there will be a $5 cover considering it's Halloween and the show will actually start up around 11pm...just speculation though.
(Plus I wanted an excuse to post up my giant obnoxious cool new sig ;D )
Oh. MY. JIM!
Well, I have been missing out on the view round here. That is a divine sight. See ya in 2 DAYS!!!! Are you going to any late night stuff saturday? If so let us know so we can meet up at some point. I need to call you and work out all the dirty details.
To everybody who is headed this way tomrorrow or is already here:
The weather in the Dirty Nola is fantastic right now! It is breezy and cool and wonderful! I could not be more excited and pumped for you beautiful people to come to our beautiful city. It is going to be three days of non-stop horror, costumes, music, and intoxication. We should all keep each other up to date day by day on how our VooDoo has been. Tomorrow, I'll be walking from my house to City Park (i know some of yall are jealous) and after Muse i'll be headed to the Quarter to go to One Eyed Jacks to see Eagles of Death Metal. Saturday i'll be at the 'Doo til Florence and then headed to the Quarter to see the Krewe of Halloween (formerly the Krewe of Boo) Parade, then back home to N Alexander by Canal for a block party going on on our block, then to Frenchmen for the Ultimate Halloween craziness party! and i'll end it all off on Sunday with voodoo and MGMT into Deadmau5 into My Morning Jacket!!!
Anyone already in town? I hope you're loving life!
well with day one over with, i have to say that i had a blast! i was impressed with the layout of the festival and every band we saw was fantastic. spent far too much on beer, which is typical of festivals.
we saw rusko, stanton moore trio, dead confederate, jonsi, metric, weezer, and muse, all of which were great. rusko was a fun surprise and really had people dancing early in the afternoon. stanton moore trio w/anders osbourne really shined, but anders stole the show. dead confederate started out slow but finished with a bang. i think they are better on record than live, especially on "tortured artist saint." they slowed it waaay down and almost ruined it. but still a good set. metric was also fun but we were only halfway hearing them and watching the tv screen at the sony stage waiting for weezer. muse was also a lot of fun, but after weezer's performance, it was tough to get as excited for them.
the highlights of the day were jonsi and weezer. jonsi and his band made lush, beautiful, LARGE music that fluctuated between soft and haunting to extravagant and powerful. He really won over the crowd. Weezer, Rivers especially, seriously brought it last night. They played almost nothing but classics and really played into the crowd. Rivers was running everywher and climbing on all kinds of equipment, including the port o potties! He also high fived me TWICE as he was running past! Awesome. We also spotted Brian Bell wandering around at about 4pm while we were in line to try and win money at the Trident Layers booth, which was also cool.
Anyway, i wont be spending too much time at the Park today, because there is so much else to do in the city tonight, but i hope to ssee some of you on frenchmen for a costume frenzy after the shows!
