I think people get too caught up in what kind/size venue a band plays and doesn't pay attention to what kind of crowd they would draw. Does Tina Turner play larger arenas? Yeah. One of the dates cited on the previous page was the XL Center in Hartford, CT. I remember when that show happened - my parents went. I'm pretty sure it wasn't sold out, either. Tina Turner would never headline Bonnaroo for the simple reason that I don't think she has a large amount of fans who aren't under the age of 50.
People could say the same about Stevie, or Bruce, I do not think it is true for any of them though. Living legends are living legends, she has been in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame since 91, she is from Tennessee, and from the looks of it still can sing. I know you would prefer her to be in the kitchen getting you pie though.

No, you can't. Springsteen is an a whole other level in terms of current popularity - his new albums sell well, he's constantly touring, and his crowds are a healthy mix of young and old. Let me put it this way; every time Bruce tours, I know loads of people who do everything they can to go see him play, and I don't think I have many friends over the age of 30 or so. I have NEVER heard of anybody I know who wasn't in my parents' age range talking about how stoked they were to go see Tina Turner.
There are certain artists whose music reaches across generations and develop groups of fans no matter what age they are; I'd put Bruce and Stevie in that group. I really don't see a ton of people under the age of 50 clamoring to go see Tina Turner.
Also...did you really use the sham that is induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as an indication of how good/popular/whatever somebody is? If that's the case, then I'm holding out hope for John Mellencamp (maybe he can sing that song from the car commercials!!!!), the Bee Gees and Rod Stewart. They're all legends, right?
Actually I would love the BeeGees, and wouldn't mind the other two at all. Of course I just suck at music but we can't all sit around with Kanye's balls in our mouths all day I suppose. As to people under 50 seeing Tina, I guess that is like your opinion man. Looking at the crowd from 09 it does not appear to be refugees from a geriatrics home or anything, but hey your parents went I am sure that gives you a better grasp of the demographics than me.
As a 23 year old I can't say I or any of my friends would get excited at the thought of seeing Tina Tuner (talented though she may be). I don't like Bruce either but there were alot of my friends pushing me to go see him in 2009, so from my perspective Mike Vick's points are solid...

Bruce's popularity covers more generations. Not to say Tina isn't a big draw, but her relevance has waned a bit. She doesn't tour very much anymore and hasn't released an album this decade. I'm sure she would be great, but as a top 3 headliner, I just don't know.

Jesus you guys are really jumping on her, and btw who has on here has any of the last three Bruce or Stevie albums since they are so currently relevant? Not liking it is fine saying it would not be a draw seems just plain wrong to me if you look at her last tour. Does it fit in to Bonnaroo, idk she is a singing legend though and it is not like they follow a particular model or all the other bands that people would not expect to see would not have showed up. She would be in line with Stevie to me, a great 70's act who produced 80's cheese, and does legacy tours these days.

According to Wikipedia, Tina has done one tour since 2000. And had a few appearances here and there.
And I don't buy many records these days, but some people buy Bruce's obviously. They chart well on Billboard and go gold, which is an accomplishment these days.
I also said she would be a nice draw, but I don't know if she would headline. I like the music fine.

Ok anyone other than you , I thought about this when I posted it, but you had not been in here so I thought I could get away with it.

I love how flustered you get when you start to realize that not everyone feels the same way you do. It's cute.
Hmmm i find your musical taste questionable, but I think that arguing a person who sells out arenas, tours rarely, and is that big a name wouldn't headline is just laughable. Also I think that anyone who rules out any band for Bonnaroo is an idiot, they consistently surprise everyone with their choices. As for flustered that is even funnier, I will argue all day but I do not take it personal like some on here do.
Several people on here need to nom some corn and stop taking themselves so seriously.

Quick question, what about Fleetwood Mac's current lineup, there are 3 ladies in that band currently, isn't there? I know they are not "Headliner Status", but I think that they could play Sunday Pre Headliner.
Oh no worries. I had to think about it twice myself. Like I said. Would love to see her back. I would say Duffy as well but this last album was the pits.
Not that I want them to, because I don't, but I think Fleetwood Mac is the only one that could possible headline.
I think Fleetwood Mac would be an awesome get...but I'd only support it if they were on the second line of the lineup...they would be a tremendous preheadliner.
