I see a lot of people complaining about these being plastic/cheap wrist bands........but I haven't seen any confirmation of them being plastic. How 'bout we wait until we actually get these things before complaining about what they're made of/how comfortable they are?
who cares about the wristband.. if they issued 2 lbs dumbells to wear around my wrist i wouldnt care.. it is still gonna be the weekend of the year and if a wristband holds you down from having any less fun then i feel sorry for you..by the 2nd hour you have it on you want even know it is there.. a la a watch

Or better yet, come prepared?
Just curious if anyone has ever tried putting some mole skin (sticky side towardd the plastic band) on the plastic bands to make it more comfy? Or maybe use some cloth underneath it to avoid irritation?
For those that have been to a festival and had to wear the plastic bands for multiple days...
Sounds Like The Yankee-ass ivyocracy tryin to come down here to sunny Tennessee and tell the workin man how to eat his breakfast! Down with the robots!!one!

These are creepy and weird.. Say somebody outside of centeroo sets off a fire work, or a security guard smells some herbs.. Well lets just look at which attendee is in the area and track them down like dogs and see whats what.
These are not for tracking people down.. they are for keeping ppl from making their own wristbands and for discouraging scalpers.. it is not that hard of a concept to understand.. a ton a festivals use these and i have never heard of them being used to track ppl.. and the reason we have never heard them using the wristbands in that way is bc it hasnt happened
Oh great, so now anytime we wanna get into centeroo we have to get scanned and patted down. That'll sure help with those long lines. Not to mention a clunky piece of plastic on our hands in severe temperature. This is lame.
You have to expect that if Roo goes to a non-cash economy that there's going to arise an under-the-table cash market at the vendors, especially those with solo unsupervised "volunteers." $6.50 RFID for a whatever, or $5 in cash straight to the individual handling the transaction. Won't happen everywhere, but it'll happen.
Also, the hell I'll ever link a debit card to an RFID bracelet. Way too much potential for loss & subsequent thievery. Crap, man...I can get an RFID scanner Fedexed overnight to my house, and if I drop a few bones to the right person who knows the system...well, you get the picture. I admit that's somewhat alarmist, but there's a lot of bad potential.

Have they come out and said they're going to scan people entering Centeroo? I would think they'd scan it, like a ticket, when you first enter the festival gates and that would be it. Scanning each and every person entering the arch would create a huge back up. Logistically speaking, they have to know that.

This is ridiculous.

This is ridiculous as well. Scanning takes less than a second and can be done while being patted down. It won't add any extra time.
There's no proof it will be plastic and to call it "clunky" is a bit extreme........especially since you haven't even seen it yet.

For the record, I'm only bummed about this because I want a ticket to hold onto like the past couple of years and I want to have four cloth Roo bracelets.

We may still get some sort of ticket-like thing to keep along with the bracelet. If we don't.....then i'll be a lil disappointed but not that bummed about it.
We (VIP) received a commemorative ticket last year after we got into the fest. I bet souvenir tickets for GA will get handed out like the CD's used to back in the day, when you come in the first check point.

I was mostly basing my comments off of the VIP wristbands from last year, which I would assume are the best bet as far as predicting what these will be like. Sure, they could be different, but I'd say the most likely scenario is that they will be plastic like those were.

I really hope they're cloth... I still have my 2010 band on, and plan to keep it til this year's roo. I did the same last year. Uncomfortable/cheap/clunky/plastic bands will ruin the tradition.
But I don't see why they cant make a cloth band with a chip in the clasp. might not be too bad

That'd be a terrible idea. They always run outta stuff that they're supposed to give you! I remember 2008 they had run out of the information booklets. That was so frustratin'!

The amount of fear some people live in is absolutely astounding.

You sound like a crazy person here.
I am not suggesting that Roo is implementing a tracking system this year. But it isn't nearly as crazy as you think. I work for a company that both designs and employs this exact technology and it is very real. It's coming to a town near you. Guaranteed.
