Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Alright, figure I spread the word... not sure how many people can make this since it's: A. the weekend before Bonnaroo (May 31-June 3) B. in midstate New York, somewhere in the Catskill Mountains
But it's a really great festival. Very nice location, last year had a solid lineup - the thing is put on by a local radio station and Warren Haynes. Last year I only went one day (Saturday) due to my work schedule and not being able to take time off, but its a really great setup out in the mountains.
Got an e-mail last night saying pre-sale tickets are going on sale Tuesday at 10 am and lasting until Friday. $165 for the pass, add 30 for camping. No groupon deals like last year.
I have had a ton of fun at Mountain Jam the last two years, unfortunately due to money and work I won't be returning. I highly recommend this festival to anyone though, especially if you are looking for something a lot chiller than Bonnaroo. There are WAY less people and the average age is a decent bit older than Roo making for a much calmer experience. The location is absolutely stunning at the bottom of a ski run. Another nice thing is there is a ski lodge right there with a bar, restaurant, and bathrooms that all festival patrons can use.
My #1 piece of advice is DO VIP. It is only something like 200$ more and they make it more than worth that. For one they have professional catering for lunch and dinner Friday-Sunday and the food is top notch for as far as catering goes. The free bottled water, juice, teas, coffee, sodas, and such all day is great too. The biggest advantage for me is the pit between the two main stages which allows VIP to get up on the rail for the early shows as they start and you only have to get there maybe an hour early to get on the rail for the headliners. There some other nice advantages with parking, showers, the entry line, bathrooms, discounted beer, and other stuff too.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I've gone the past two years. I think of it as a Bonnaroo warm-up with much better weather conditions. Last year I actually watched the MMJ set with Zack Galifinaikis (sp?), which is a memory I'll never forget.
I will almost definitely be back this year for at least the two weekend dates, but hopefully I can get off on Friday and make it for the full weekend.

hiya. I bought mountain jam tickets! w/camping and pre-fest party. This will be my first mountain jam...actually my first overnight fest ever besides for bonnaroo, I'm excited to try something different/smaller (and closer! I'm from Baltimore) 1. What's it like on thursday night? the pre-fest party? will there be bands or what? 2. Whats the temperature usually like?

The pre-fest party is similar to Thursday at Roo. Last year they had music on the two smaller stages I think about 6 bands total. It was lots of fun last year with London Souls and Soul Live being the highlights for me.
The weather is beautiful during the day with highs in the mid 80s low 90s on sunny days and lower when its cloudy. I've been twice and there has been at least one night of serious rain both years. At night it can get really cold so make sure you have a real sleeping bag and a waterproof tent. After Levon in 2010 at about midnight (which was after a fast intense storm) the thermometer in my car said it was 34. From what I've heard in 2009 on Sunday night it actually briefly snowed.
Last year it was in the 70s during the day and 40s at night. So much more comfortable than Roo, and 20 degrees colder. But it can get really warm, or can get really cold - just be aware.
Now one of my cousins is getting married on June 2nd. I'm not sure if that prevents me from getting tickets to this, or makes me want to get one more.
Yeah, I was in shorts/t-shirts during the day but bundled up at night. The Umphrey's late-night show was pretty damn cold, I think I bought a sweatshirt from one of the vendors just so I could stay for the whole thing.
Another thing I would like to add about Mountain Jam is the patrons of the festival are by far the nicest of any festival I've gone to. Everyone there is super cool.
Thanks for the info. Getting super excited. This was going to be my only fest of the summer but I think I want to go to Roo too. funfunfun
Is there anything fun to do around the mountain if we get there early?
How far away is camping to the stages? It doesnt seem too bad from maps I've seen but just wondering
Is it typical beer/food prices? (prices like bonnaroo?)
What's the experience like getting searched on the way in??
Thanks guys!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun things to do if you get to Hunter, New York before the festival: Drink. Aaaaand we're done. Just kidding, if you like hiking, there's some beautiful trails out there. But keep in mind you're going to a ski-resort during the spring, so options are limited. We usually just hang out at my friends ski-house and rage.
If you do the festival camping, you're on the same grounds as the stages. The stages are right by the ski lodge, the camping area is on one of the ski slopes, not a far walk at all.
Food varies, you can find cheap food at one of the many food vendors, but nothing is that expensive. You also have pretty good beer prices.
If there's a strong lineup, I will be pissed off that I can't go. Or I might just say to hell with family and skip this freaking wedding. Or just hope everything good I want to see is on Friday or on Sunday, so I can scramble back and forth from Connecticut.

Room for one more?
Yeah, I agree with basically everything said. Franti is a given. As long as Grace Potter is doing the festival circuit this year again, she'll most likely be there (and I'll be up close drooling per usual- damn she's hot). Zach Deputy and Ryan Montbleau as well.
