Sorry I am a ridiculous over planner...someone give me the low down on camping vs staying in a hotel. There arent late nights are there? What am I missing staying in a lodge close to the site vs camping?
Everything in the town of Hunter is walking distance (or a 5 minute drive) from the mountain, where the festival is. If you camp, you're right on the mountain, if you stay at a hotel, you'll likely be within the general area.
There is one late night each night, although the details on when they actually end are a bit hazy. Umphrey's was a late night last year, and they were awesome.

Camping = setting up your tent on one slope of the ski mountain (that runs parallel to the slope where the music takes place).
If you set up your tent down towards the bottom of the mountain you're likely to find flatter ground but a good portion of it is slightly slanted (can make things difficult for sleeping at times).
The left side of the mountain is all the campers and tents. The right side (that looks kinda empty) is where you watch most of the shows.
There are late nights for sure. Just not as many or as late as Bonnaroo.
There's two spots for late night shows:
1.) 2nd main stage (outside) where a big late night act usually plays (Umphrey's McGee was one).
2.) Smaller, indoor room where they usually have one or two bands play.
They don't usually go very late.
Not sure where the lodge your staying at is but I'd say go for it if it's within walking distance.

Thank you so much ITM...Im debating VIP and camping or just going the hotel route. Seems that everything in the lodge is sold out (which I expectexd it to be) so it would be something in close proximity but probably not walking distance. Not sure, didnt do thorough research, just enough to propose a plan to friends lol.

I'd much rather be at MJ. Personally, I don't care much for weddings and wouldn't want to go regardless of when. That and quite frankly - my cousin and her fiancee are both 21 years old. They shouldn't be getting married so young, but they're both kinda dumb. If they weren't believing in that whole Christian abstinence BS, things might be a bit different. If they hooked up two years ago, would they be getting married now?
June weddings are the worst, and quite frankly seem to be the most popular. Might be missing one this year for roo, another the following weekend(knew June, just recently learned the date or it would have been a similar decision). I also know of a June one next year where I will probably be the best man, so I'm assuming it will be the weekend of roo, usually how those things work.
On that note, really hoping my finances for roo are set by Mountain Jam and I'll be able to swing over.

I can't vouch for it. Just what nbcst said. I'm not looking to rent a room though. I'm taking so many days off, I can't afford it! I'll vacation pay for job one but I'll be losing upwards of 1000 bucks of missed Cheesecake shifts

Wow, a whole day off in between. It's a hard life you lead.
I know. SUPER rough. I don't know when I'll get home from Mountain Jam. But I leave for Bonnaroo around 6:30 Tuesday evening. It'll probably give me a solid 30-35 hours in between to sleep, do laundry, repack and take a LOONNGGGGG shower.
